Ronny’s Aberdeen-Salzburg dilemma

1430

Before the second leg against Maribor I went into detail about how important it was for Ronny Deila to rest his players.  He did, we lost to Inverness and players spent the bulk the Maribor game looking like strangers.

Since then players’ propensity to look strangers has increased, with the arrival of Stefan Scepovic, John Guidetti and Wakaso Mubarak, not to mention the anticipated return of Aleks Tonev.  Ronny has some serious decisions to make.

Does he flood the team with all this new blood, or allow them time to build match fitness and familiarity?  New blood is badly needed but so is team cohesion.

Any decision for Aberdeen will be made with the visit to Salzburg one week today in mind.  On paper, away to the top seed is our most difficult Europa League game, so we have to be ready.

My expectation is that three, if not all four, of the above will feature heavily on Saturday, which will inform Ronny ahead of his choices for Europe.

Fancy some comfy seats at the Aberdeen game and helping Mary’s Meals as well?  The Club’s main sponsor Magners have again offered us two premium seat tickets for the Jock Stein Stand, which you can win by answering the following question:

Who do Celtic play in the lunchtime kick off on Saturday, 13 September 2014?

Optionally….. if you have £1 available, please donate £1 to Mary’s Meals at this MyDonate page, which sends your £1 straight to Mary’s Meals, then send me your confirmation email, with your contact details to celticquicknews@gmail.com  Competition closes noon on Friday, so get your entries in now and watch your inbox on Friday afternoon.

You can donate more than £1, if you like, but £1 from as many people as possible will be gratefully received, as, like many organisations working in Africa right now, they are encountering a wave of additional ebola-related challenges.

Thanks for helping.

Terms and Conditions of the competition apply and are available here.

“Still harassing people and demanding to know where they stand on the referendum?”

I didn’t feel harassed – unlike that time when someone felt my bum when I was getting on the tube.

If that is true about the kids, Dearie me, their desperation is palpable.

I have said from the start the kids will decide it, they may well be young and daft, but they know what they see, and they know who are responsible for what they see.

Yeah agree with that Quonno but it worries me that BT are recruiting supporters through the OO.

Not surprising I guess, avoid Edinburgh Saturday good people.

How dare you. Keeping The Faith.

Jim Murphy and his mates in BT have repeatedly assured us that OO and others of their ilk have nothing to do with them. They simply share the same aims.

    Tell me something.

In the event of a no vote (which i think we all know is what it’s going to be) who will you vote for at the General Election next year?

What I have consistently voted for from the first day that I set eyes on Tony Blair.

One of the minor socialist parties.

I should add that I was brought up in a house where the word Tory was only ever used as a curse.

Should next week’s projected 85-90% turn out carry over to 2015, it could prove very uncomfortable for some of those Scottish Labour MPs who voted with the tories.

So in the name of balance, you find it acceptable that the BBC ask teenagers to lie?

Sorry mate, but you really have lost the plot, and my respect.

Would it really have hurt you to say something like, “That’s not right”? Or better still, say nothing, rather than make a pathetic attempt at justifying it?

  10. So what is the truth about George Galloway’s on/off appearance at this event.

We know he was invited, or at lest approached to appear, we know the BBC then said he wouldn’t be on, and the he did appear.

Might it be that one of the other invitees indicated they would only agree to be on the show if Galloway wasn’t?

I have to say I had credited you with more intelligence than that reply suggests.

You have no idea what occurred. You have read a post referring to someone’s tweet.

The old confirmation bias has kicked in and you immediately assume this is a unionist plot to undermine the nats.

I think it more plausible that it’s some admin bod at the BBC trying to cover their arse for having presented a show with a manifestly partisan audience.

Rather like the debate between Darling and that other guy, the one that it’s not all about and not a vote for.

The claim was George was ‘told’ he was not appearing at the request of the Yes campaign.

    George is on the show.

There was another claim that neither Sturgeon or Salmond would appear on QT now that George was on the show.

Sturgeon is on the programme with George.

This whole QT farce in the past 24 hours is symptomatic of the No campaign up to this point. Shambles.

  18. eddieinkirkmichael on

They, the No camp, are really sweating now. The whole might of the establishment is now mobilised to prevent a Yes vote, every dirty trick and lie is now acceptable as without Scotland finances their own system will be on the edge.

  21. Good evening all.

As with the Ipox demise, I think we can take the BBCs opinions with a pinch of salt. WM led, like it or lump it. Hopefully true Scots will take this opportunity to define our own destiny, and be freed from the WM elite, who have led us to the most impoverished and welfare dependant nation in the EU. It defies my every logic why Scots would be continually dictated to regarding Scotlands wealth. If only all Scots would realise, that Scotland put more in to the WM coffers, with Oil and Whisky taxes, than any other UK members. Pretty obvious to me. We have of course other areas we do excel, like IT. Can anyone, other than EL dispute these facts? I have, of course, not mentioned our phenomenal food production, which is envied world wide, ie Aberdeen angus, in my opinion, it’s a no brainer for a “Yes” vote. IMHO.

The BBC confirmed Galloway had been approached.

The BBC also confirmed he would not be on the show.

That was in the Herald today.

So I would take those two points as being facts.

The third fact we know is that Galloway on the show.

Those three facts are consistent with the scenario I’ve suggested. Might be right, might be wrong, but it’s consistent with the known facts.

I’d like to know what took place.
