Ronny’s Aberdeen-Salzburg dilemma

1430

Before the second leg against Maribor I went into detail about how important it was for Ronny Deila to rest his players.  He did, we lost to Inverness and players spent the bulk the Maribor game looking like strangers.

Since then players’ propensity to look strangers has increased, with the arrival of Stefan Scepovic, John Guidetti and Wakaso Mubarak, not to mention the anticipated return of Aleks Tonev.  Ronny has some serious decisions to make.

Does he flood the team with all this new blood, or allow them time to build match fitness and familiarity?  New blood is badly needed but so is team cohesion.

Any decision for Aberdeen will be made with the visit to Salzburg one week today in mind.  On paper, away to the top seed is our most difficult Europa League game, so we have to be ready.

My expectation is that three, if not all four, of the above will feature heavily on Saturday, which will inform Ronny ahead of his choices for Europe.

Fancy some comfy seats at the Aberdeen game and helping Mary’s Meals as well?  The Club’s main sponsor Magners have again offered us two premium seat tickets for the Jock Stein Stand, which you can win by answering the following question:

Who do Celtic play in the lunchtime kick off on Saturday, 13 September 2014?

Optionally….. if you have £1 available, please donate £1 to Mary’s Meals at this MyDonate page, which sends your £1 straight to Mary’s Meals, then send me your confirmation email, with your contact details to celticquicknews@gmail.com  Competition closes noon on Friday, so get your entries in now and watch your inbox on Friday afternoon.

You can donate more than £1, if you like, but £1 from as many people as possible will be gratefully received, as, like many organisations working in Africa right now, they are encountering a wave of additional ebola-related challenges.

Thanks for helping.

Terms and Conditions of the competition apply and are available here.

I have learned that PM met supermarket bosses at No.10 this afternoon & urged them to go public on how prices would rise in indie Scotland

“Stayed out of the great debate , but the ‘No’ bias on BBC/Sky is overwhelming”

I’ve enjoyed observing the campaign. Like most people I know where my vote is going without thinking about it at an election, this referendum has the novelty factor of observing from afar.

I would liken the campaign to a sunny afternoon in Lisbon 47 years ago. No have attempted to consolidate an early lead with negativity.

The positive approach by Yes has resulted in them drawing level and with all the momentum behind them.

  4. Clyde News calling out a guy associated with the huns as a ‘ convicted fraudster’, strangely guys were cut off on SSB, when calling convicted fraudster Dave King , exactly the same.

  5. I cannot foresee how prices would rise in an independent Scotland given a currency union with the pound worth exactly the same north and south.

What I can foresee is retailers using an independent Scotland as simply an excuse to hike prices or a non-currency union leading to higher prices due to exchange rate issues.

    But, as usual, who knows!

  8. Just when you thought the self-praise could not get any worse.

After being Brave, intelligent, young, vibrant, full of hope and aspiration, positive and passionate, the Yes people are now The f***ing Lisbon Lions

Wonder what this guy thinks of that? :-

Bertie Auld, the famous Scotland and Celtic footballer and Better Together supporter, rejected the characterisation, saying: “As someone who has pulled on the Scotland jersey, I know we are all team Scotland.

“This is a choice between what we think is the best future for our country. I believe that is solidarity and unity. That is why I am voting No.”

Must have been the time he spent in Birmingham that done him in as a true Scot.

For a man that can talk for Norway can’t believe he is so poor a manager. One system in modern football and people on here saying they’re going to watch swashbuckling performances.

    “Are you a Yes supporter??”

On the basis campaign I’ve gone from favouring No to Yes.

But I don’t actually care one way or another. It is up to the people of Scotland to decide what they want and the result should be respected either way.
