Ronny’s Aberdeen-Salzburg dilemma

1430

Before the second leg against Maribor I went into detail about how important it was for Ronny Deila to rest his players.  He did, we lost to Inverness and players spent the bulk the Maribor game looking like strangers.

Since then players’ propensity to look strangers has increased, with the arrival of Stefan Scepovic, John Guidetti and Wakaso Mubarak, not to mention the anticipated return of Aleks Tonev.  Ronny has some serious decisions to make.

Does he flood the team with all this new blood, or allow them time to build match fitness and familiarity?  New blood is badly needed but so is team cohesion.

Any decision for Aberdeen will be made with the visit to Salzburg one week today in mind.  On paper, away to the top seed is our most difficult Europa League game, so we have to be ready.

My expectation is that three, if not all four, of the above will feature heavily on Saturday, which will inform Ronny ahead of his choices for Europe.

Fancy some comfy seats at the Aberdeen game and helping Mary’s Meals as well?  The Club’s main sponsor Magners have again offered us two premium seat tickets for the Jock Stein Stand, which you can win by answering the following question:

Who do Celtic play in the lunchtime kick off on Saturday, 13 September 2014?

Optionally….. if you have £1 available, please donate £1 to Mary’s Meals at this MyDonate page, which sends your £1 straight to Mary’s Meals, then send me your confirmation email, with your contact details to celticquicknews@gmail.com  Competition closes noon on Friday, so get your entries in now and watch your inbox on Friday afternoon.

You can donate more than £1, if you like, but £1 from as many people as possible will be gratefully received, as, like many organisations working in Africa right now, they are encountering a wave of additional ebola-related challenges.

Thanks for helping.

Terms and Conditions of the competition apply and are available here.

  1. So we have anecdotal evidence of kids being asked to sit in the No/Don’t know sections because there were too many Yessers. In terms of the spectacle I don’t have a huge problem with that, I just don’t think it’s fair on the kids.

We have suggestions that the crowd booing Galloway was edited out at some points, boos for Ruth Davidson edited out completely – I take these lightly as I know that cheering/booing what have you always sounds much louder when you’re in it, than it comes across on tv.

We do have Galloway’s sexist and ridiculous ‘SNP Nazis’ being edited out. Which is naughty.

Far worse than all of that is Nick Robinson’s flat out lie on the Ten O’Clock news that Alec Salmond didn’t answer his question. He spent 3 full minutes answering it. The BBC seems to have lost any objectivity it ever had on this.

    Night all.

Do you know any drummers in the north Lanarkshire area looking for a band ?

My band has just parted company with our last drummer and we are looking for a replacement .

We play light rock and pop … oasis , primal scream , beatles , stones , T rex etc

Back gigging as soon as we bed in a new drummer

    What did he say?

And I mean verbatim. Word for word.

If you don’t know, just say so.

  5. Westies you know more about Quebec and the consequences than anyone on ths site I guess. Perhaps as you say I’m 20’years or so we would get over the disruption. I’m sure it would be fine. But those 20″years would see my daughters generation lost in terms of the impact. And as you say a tartan and shortbread future really isn’t appealing to me.

I see the world differently I guess. As Auldheid has said there’s is no real independence.

I’m still a long way from 65 but I am beginning to need a new adventure.

  6. BCW just to be clear I only mentioned the senior executives thing because these are the people who make the decisions. It wasn’t mean to belittle anyone.

Sipsini, I’ll be in the KDS. Don’t be late. Is wee Nicky’s mate a hooker?

After buying drinks in the KDS I’ll be skint.

  8. BCW as for celtic and poor Ronny. I feel sorry for Ronny. Though he did sign the deal with devil in peter. I was amused by the celebrations at the transfer window. It was all too little too late. I’m pretty sure we will have a difficult season and that Ronny will struggle.

Peter has made it clear now that he awaits the Hun. Though his numbers and his excuses were pretty poor I have to say.

Just to be clear………..you ain’t belittling no one.

Words are like weapons they hurt sometimes………….but more often they are obvious, dull and blunt.

Fred Colon, no I don’t play but I know a man who does and who could put you in touch with a drummer, a very very good drummer. The rest would be up to you.

Sipsini, see you on Saturday bruv. KDS after the game.

Don’t wear the gimp mask though, kids go in there and it scares them.

Now you know why I emigrated to Canada in 1969, age 19. Went to Saint Mungo’s and they thought I was joking when I took time off to see Canada Immigration. I did not like the Freemason employment crap in Scotland. 6 highers, uni spots taken up by fee paying Commonwealth students (thanks Harold Wilson immigration policies). So piss on it.

Put myself through uni in Canada, got a CA and MBA. Have done OK…..but it was Scottish education, upbringing etc. that gave me the ambition and desire.

No doubt your girls could find things limiting……but somehow I think they have the capabilities to do well.

    Good Night, and Thank You

I have noticed a lot of your posts dwell on the influence which you say is exerted on Civic Scotland by the OO and the masons.

These organisations profess loyalty to the Crown and all the institutions which symbolise and idolise the now defunct British Empire. They are sooo part of the establishment that they couldn’t even save their football team; they are fighting rearguard actions to protect their marches which are attended, of course, by all the movers and shakers in the country, and provide us with comedy video footage.

Why are you so scared of them? You are allowing them to dominate your agenda.

They are a busted flush, a laughing stock.

Westie’s, as I said to you on Wednesday, I’m glad to see you take the long term view. I’m also glad you don’t have a vote.

30 years, 40 years……….. from now many of us will not be here but our kids and theirs will.

    I voted yes for them.

Hail Hail bruv, you’re much more polite than the resident borg.

  15. Timhorton,

You can buy a beautiful house in Midland for about $350,000. Water views everywhere. Small town, no traffic. Fresh air. !!!!!!!!!!!

Drive up in the Fall, visit Martyrs Shrine and possibly St. Marie among the Hurons. Drop in at the Boathouse on Midland Harbour around 4 pm and ask for Gerry.

Love to buy you guys a drink.

    Cheers

Anyway, I’m looking forward to the game on Saturday and seeing our new players (wakaso especially). Any error in the spelling of his name is down to fat fingeredness, Im not even sure that’s close:-)

I’m also looking forward to meeting some guys for beers before and after the game and couldn’t give a shit what way they intend to vote.

We are Celtic, and that’s the most important thing about CQN.

  17. Ernie – on the sexist front an audience member gave us this gem:

“we’ve had enough talk from the women in this room”

If you really insist, I’ll trawl my timeline for the nazi slur, which was coming out straight away from the debate this afternoon. I can’t be bothered just now. I need my bed.

Galloway is a rape apologist and his credibility is largely diminished these days, which is annoying because he can be a powerful speaker and there are areas where I more or less agree with him.

As far as I can see he bullied his way onto the panel with his outburst yesterday and I bet the No campaign wished he hadn’t. I thought Ruth Davidson looked very uncomfortable on a couple of occasions when he was speaking.

  18. A Ceiler Gonof Rust on

DD, you can do it over a beer on Saturday, Neg2 is my date for Saturday night and I’ll have no bitchfest on my date.

    You play nice buddy.

  19. Galloway’s performance was excruciating tonight, absolutely cringeworthy. He’s done. The real issue is why there wasn’t a labour politician on the stage tonight. What were they scared of? A PR disaster for them.

Thought the other three batted the points about quite well. Sturgeon was the most impressive performer.

I’ve been a ‘no’ all the way down the line. I’m now 50-50. Disgusted with New Labour and just can’t take Milliband seriously. I always have and always will detest the Tories. It saddens me that they rule Scotland despite having one solitary Scottish MP at Westminster. That’s not democracy.

I’ve always instinctively been against nationalism as a concept but I’m now coming around to the view that independence and self determination is the best option for Scotland.

I looked in on my two year old son tonight, fast asleep and oblivious to all of it. My vote could affect him much more than it could me.

I’m genuinely torn and I probably won’t decide until I’m standing in the polling booth.

  20. Well done the Westies. My own inspiration was a get it up em attitude and a belief I could mix it with the best of them. It worked well. Well sort of.

    Good night.

BCW what’s wrong with The Hague man?

  21. Ger57. I guess I am influenced by my experience. Not just on growing up but modern day too. Look back at Westies post and the reason he left Scotland. My own brother left because he couldn’t get promoted in the shipyards because he was catholic.

    History I hear you say?

Well not really. The OB act, the police force etc suggest otherwise.

In an independent Scotland you have already been told we will retain the monarchy and other institutions. Can I turn your question around? Why aren’t you concerned?

Wow – The one and only. Thank the Lord Almighty.

If there is one CQN human being who is sinning less and less, Nae Drink?!!!!? who can bring us all back together about the real bond between us all, it had to be the TOP Tory, In my eyes, the Maggie respecting and all round top bloke, Mr φ.

Big Congrats on having the best gift that God gives anyone. I can tell you are over the Moon about it, the wee man has big shoes to follow and he will do just fine. ;))

Hoi, who said summit bad about the Hague? My wee lass is working there on war crimes tribunals trying to string up the real criminals of this world.

I’ve asked her to call me when she see’s George and Tony in front of her so I can organise a party.
