SALES TALK: ANGE WON’T DISMISS DEAL No.5

ANGE POSTECOGLOU has refused to dismiss plunging into the transfer market for a FIFTH time before Tuesday’s midnight deadline.

The Celtic boss has already brought in Canadian World Cup right-back Alistair Johnston, J-League duo Yuki Kobayashi and Tomoki Iwata and South Korean striker Oh Hyeon-gyu.

Josip Juranovic and Moritz Jenz have departed for Germany while Giorgos Giakoumakis is hovering at the exit with less than a week to go.

Asked if his business was now concluded as far as incomings were concerned, Postecoglou, speaking to Sky Sports, answered: “Well, I could say yes and make it a boring few days for everyone, but I’ll just say we’ll continue to be agile and see what happens.”

CROSSROADS…Giorgos Giakoumakis is weighing up his transfer options.

Giakoumakis, who knocked back an enhanced contract to trigger intense speculation last month, is now caught in transfer limbo, as CQN reported earlier today.

The Hoops gaffer added: “There is still a bit of speculation around him; nothing has been confirmed.

“With a few days left in the window, we will see what happens with Giako. He’s still part of us at the moment, but there’s still a fair bit going on around in the background. Hopefully that all gets resolved in the next few days.

“There’s no great urgency, from us or from anyone, it’s just Giako wants to explore some offers for himself and that is what he is doing.

“And if he finds something he really wants to explore that is suitable to us a football club then we will look at it in that light. But in the meantime we are making sure we’re ready to go for the games.”

The Greek hitman has sat out the last two matches – the 4-0 league win over St Mirren and the 5-0 Scottish Cup victory over Morton – and there are no guarantees he will be on show at Tannadice on Sunday when the champions return to the venue where they ran up a record away Premiership success with their remarkable 9-0 triumph over Dundee United in August.
