we look fragile – rule number 1 , build a solid foundation (defense and midfield) , use pace and energy on the break. i feel RD is caught in two teams -his attack/high pressing v building from the back. Midfield not set up to support defense or attack.

We need to organise in midfield and play some passe on the ground to the front 3.
They are no great shakes at the back but break quickly and we end up man for man – and one of them is Efe on a yellow. He is not a RB – every challenge is a problem.
I think we need to bring on an extra lying midfield player and start to control the ball and close them down when they break otherwise we are just lumping the ball anywhere to clear the danger and it comes back to us.
They are vulnerable but we need to create with some purpose. Over to you RD
Superb strike and a miss by Brown, but the game as predicted by many is too open, in midfield especially and they pile down on the back four.
Anything can happen, lets hope we buck the trend.

Just logged on to see what everyone was thinking about the 1st half and as usual people jumping on the team/manager at the first opportunity.
Must be great being a expert ……am off
IF we get the ball up front it becomes 2 on 2, 3 on 3 situations with a lot of space.
They leave themselves very exposed that way because 6 or 7 of their players are pressing and it is something we can capitalise on.
Missed the 1st haf, thot it was starting at 8 my time, bollix.
Read back, started well by the sounds of it, and finished Ok.

We need a Wanyama type player in the midfield , and are STILL missing a player to replace the goals that Gary Hooper scored.
I could hardly be less impressed with Deila & Collins at this stage.

In the other game in our group, Dynamo Zagreb are 3-0 up at HT on Astra
I’d take off Scepovic, put Commons up front with McGregor behind him and bring on Biton.
Our ball retention needs to be much better than the last 20 minutes of the first half.
Mid is lost the noo and we are lumping the ball over it to KC and the bhoy, resulting in no possession once they don’t get it.
Game needs subs and closed down in mid.
On a Fox Sports feed, what’s with the stiffs in suits standing on a 5 year old’s astra turf football pitch? Very odd. Keep expecting them to recreate moments from the game.

DEILA is a dud another superb team selection.
2 central midfielders against what looks like the whole salzburg team at times aint going to work.
How many more times must Ronny need to see this, bring on another CM.
Great debut goal but that is about it, passing has been awful at times.
KTF will be very happy with a point but have a bad feeling about this watch out for a red card
5 minutes to half time, ball falls to johansen in centre circle and he spins, throws his leg out and lumps it high out to the left wing. This is Sunday league standard. Can we please get a proper midfielder on?
Brown hasn’t been great either, but it’s clear that between him and johansen the can’t pick a pass.
Neither Bitton nor kayal are world class but at least they can pass the ‘kin ball to feet!
Got a bad feeling about this, we might be level at HT but it has the makings of another shambles. Sincerely hope I am wrong.

usual away from home rabbits in headlights performance…we are playing with 9 men at the moment . FFS , anyone see the look on Kennedys face when RD got all exasperated when we were getting turned over in the middle of the park? We score a good goal, then we panic, 4-4-2 doesn`t work , the Austrians have sussed it and will play on Efe all night.
Get one of the front two off now or this has the look of another Legia….sorry guys.

Think we are lucky to be level.
Wakaso has worked his socks off in addition to the cracking goal. Commons is a shadow of Commons. Scepovic has been mince. McGregor- see Scepovic. Broony is trying to carry Johansen who is a tube (IMHO). Denayer, Izzy and Virgil individually ok but the back four lacks confidence as a unit. Gordon- a wonder save- looks like deal of the decade!
Need to retain the ball for more than 5 seconds. Salzburg are no great shakes tonight.

I’d get stepovic off and biton on with commons moving to the front. We need 4141 not 4411.
Too many misplaced passes. No sign of being able to keep possession. It is like going back 15 years.
Just watched replay of their goal. Efe playing their scorer onside behind the Celtic line before deflecting it past CG who had no chance.
We are fortunate to be level at HT thanks to a brilliant CG fingertip save when Izzy didn’t pick up at a Free kick.
Unless we change system it may just be a matter of time until they get another break. We need someone breaking up the play midway inside our half

We are playing away in europe and have 2 men missing , get Scepovic and Johansen off and Kayal and Biton on .

We are 1-1 against a team that has had some outstanding European form in recent times.
It’s an away game.
Our players are still trying to get used to each other, with another (goal scoring) debutant in the team.
Overall, happy so far.
