Bring on Biton for Johansen.
We badly need someone in midfield who can hold the ball and make a pass.
We can still win this.

Football is a simple game – if you don’t win the middle of the park then chances are you will lose
If we don’t get the middle of the park sorted we will lose
We need to sacrifice a wide player for a central midfielder – get Bitton or Kayal on and take either McGregor or Wakaso off!
The Serb lad doesn’t look great at present but we need to play the ball in to the box to give him a chance!
Commons looks as if the game is just passing him by
Brown and Johansen have too much ground to cover and are often outnumbered in the middle of the park

Defensively weak at both full-backs and midfield. No leader up front.
Top class goal. Phenomenal save by Gordon. Predictably Ambrose costs us a goal. Would take a good point against a superior team, but signs of progress from performances against Legia and Maribor. Hopefully we can keep it going second half. Zagreb skooshing other game.
Possession Football has gone out the window and perhaps that’s not a bad thing. RowZ is back in fashion at the back and we are lumping the ball forward quite a lot. A superb goal by Wakaso and a superb save by Gordon were our highlights. Cruel deflection for their goal, the shot was going nowhere. I think Biton for McGregor should be first sub, but don’t you know that means Calum will score a cracker 2nd half. We are still in there with a good shout.

Wakaso looks ok IMO not just for the goal he’s been helping izzy out defensively as well.

My worry regarding our manager is formations seem to be paramount. Pragmatism should dictate extra bodies in midfield. Not exactly rocket science.

Central midfield letting too much through too easily – could put another central mid on for the empty-jersey striker.

We don’t seem to cope well when a team comes back at us and too be fair they have looked pretty tidy. Hopefully we banish the fair/good first half and atrocious second half form on this historic tonight. HH
