SFA and Sevco agree on embargo

719

This evening we received clarity on two items first reported here and on several other locations months ago.  Sevco have accepted the 12 month player registration embargo handed down by Lord Carloway’s Appellate Tribunal as a condition of their application for membership of the SFA, while Fifa have granted four former Rangers players permission to sign for new clubs.

The SFA, under president Campbell Ogilvie, took every step possible to alert Sevco that if they did not accept the transfer embargo a more severe penalty would be imposed on Rangers, whose licence they are trying to acquire.  Hopes of “elimination” from the Scottish Cup as an alternative punishment were based on false logic, and were also just silly.

Sevco disputed the embargo, hoping the SFA would offer to set it aside, as it tried to set-aside so many other rules to accommodate them in recent weeks, however, the best the new company could achieve was an accommodation to allow them to stock up on players over the next five weeks in order to off-set the effects of so many players ‘walking away’.

There is a chance this decision will save Sevco a second season in the SFL Third Division but there remains many hurdles for the new club to achieve before they start and complete a football season.

No mention yet of what the SFA and SPL plan to do with the plethora of other disciplinary matters due against Rangers, or how they proposed to prevent their own independent judicial process from reaching an inconvenient verdict.

don’t kid yourself mate ,if the SFA were serious about sevco taking the sanctions of the old club then sevco would be agreeing to being expelled from football when the dual contracts issue came up .

The only sanctions that the SFA are interested in giving the most corrupt Scottish entity ever are one’s that give them a claim to the history of their seed .

The only way out for any decent club in Scottish football is out of Scottish football for good

For once i’m actually not bothered if we make signings or not. We’re almost certain to win the league and not win the CL.I would rather see our own young players get their chance.I realise they will not be up to CL standard right away but the experience they will get added to the confidence it would provide would be of tremendous benefit to their long term development.Unless we are able to sign proven international class I would keep our green and let the bhoys have their chance. It’s the most opportune time I can remember for blooding them.

  5. PFayr,

of course its a concession to the newco, but its not like

they are gonna be able to sign Messi, old Chuck doesnt have a coin

and they have nothing to offer a decent football player

We ain’t getting upset Gordy about Sevco it’s about the corrupt SFA making up rules as they go along.

Agree Murphy was a terrible signing and can’t even be put down to a gamble gone wrong, it was obvious he’d be rubbish. Do not understand why he has managed to play at the clubs and level he has.

  8. Baba. I actually agree with you mate

No point our club signing any more Wilson’s , Murphys etc

We must have better youth players

  9. We should sign a central striker. He can compete with Hooper, Stokes, Samaras, Watt, Bangura, Rasmussen, Keatings and Murphy for a starting place.

Whisper it, but we may just have to get rid before we buy.

    Hi Chaps

Im not to upset over this moving of the transfer embargo for Sevco 5088. I mean they will have to get a squad together in the next couple of weeks, and added to that i dont think there’s much chance of Charlie Bhoy paying Big Kirky 10,000 a week to play in the third division, they will lose more players, not that there’s many more to sell.

They can sign Ian Black and Craig Beattie, tho with Ian Black’s temper against the division 3 cloggers and Craig Beatties dodgy hamstrings on the bumpy pitches in winter, i cant see them adding strength to the team.

    Peace be with you all

When they wear the hoops they get supported. Calling players donkeys is poor. This place is getting more like follow follow each day.

  14. Paul looks like Sevco have not agreed to the embargo yet saying they will only accept it if the other alternative is not playing…They have some neck on them..

I’m not too keen on having a go at our players but Murphy is quite possibly the most inept footballer i’ve watched in the hoops. When he was named in any starting line-up it put me in an angry downer. He must have been possessed by the spirit of some deceased player of fantastic ability when he scored that goal against D.Utd.How he has managed to make a living out of the game is a complete mystery to me.Good luck to the big fhella though.

If we fail to beat Helsinki, that is it as far as our European exploits will go this season.

If we beat them but get beat it the play-off we parachute into the Europa League.

bhoys…. don’t get too carried away about how good HJK are, their only advantage is they are mid-season….if we are fit and up for it we will beat them

I agree, some players just can’t handle the extreme weight of expectancy at Celtic, it is a tremendous credit that they were signed and were afforded the chance to play for this Great Club.

I always wish every ex Celt very well in their future footballing careers and hope they go as high up in the game as possible.

re Murphy. I know where your coming from. Lenny was thinking of a poor mans Sutton when he signed him.

During my time as a SFA techinical asoc member I done some scouting. Nothing major. but for what it’s worth I could see Lenny’s point with Murphy.

His strengths are winning aerial combats and providing the knock on. In a no frills game against physically imposing central defenders he can mix it with them.

Ideal for Inv Caley type games. There are plenty in the SPL were at his best he could do a job.

    Yes, I know I know…… I’m an optimist lol
