SFA corporate governance questions

Do you like our new lightweight template?  There’s a lot less green and tons more whyte.  Like it or not, the whyte template will be here for a wee while, so try to enjoy it.

Ticket arrangements for our game at Ibrox next month were always going to be tasty.  With rumour that Rangers were heading for administration, Celtic refused to forward their rivals tickets for the game on 28 December on credit, demanding payment in advance.  Rangers found the money after a failed appeal to the better nature of the Celtic board.  This proved to be a wise move as only a few weeks later Rangers were in administration leaving a trail of unpaid debts to other clubs in their wake, but an awkward situation was likely to follow with Rangers (in administration) looking to reciprocate with payment terms.

Celtic are good for the credit, but if they pay for tickets, what’s the chance Rangers will survive long enough to fulfil the fixture?

None of us are in a position to tell, but Celtic cannot sell tickets to their own supporters in the chance that Rangers will not honour them.  If Rangers are still in business, I expect a busy few days leading up to the fixture as cash and tickets are transferred.

And to think we’ve listened to all the ‘Old Firm conspiracy’ theories all these years….. didn’t turn out that way after all.

Really pleased to see STV picked up on our story of last week on the potential improper registration of players and managed to get an anonymous quote from the SFA suggesting “that if conclusive evidence can be produced, the Scottish FA could launch a wider investigation into the conduct of the club”.

“Could”!  This story has now been reported by several mainstream media outlets.  It looks like the SFA will have to be dragged into examining this by Uefa.  Embarrassingly, they are likely to conclude an inquiry into Rangers next week without reference to the 10,000lb gorilla (as No Surrender Johnston would say) in the room.

There are now serious questions of corporate governance at the association, something the chief exec was keen to avoid. If the SFA do initiate an inquiry into the multiple contract allegation, they should start by asking some of the guys who have arrived at Ibrox from continental Europe. I hear Joachim Bjorklund, a decent defender who signed his only Rangers contract in 1996, is still working in the game.

I know I’m being daft, but no dafter than the so-called ‘reporting’ in the MSM around one of the biggest financial ( never mind football ) scandals to hit Scotland.

What I don’t understand is that keeping staff on after 14 days, which is today, they will have a claim for unfair dismissal, albeit they will have to get in line with the rest, something is just no right.

Unless they are going to liquidate very soon and it matters not a jot.

  3. See there are a few BBad fans on here have watched the four seasons and thoroughly enjoyed them. So you know this years season, will be the last.

  4. P67 – thanks, looking good especially for an Apple user

  7. Paul,

I quite like the new format but I must say, my staff were wondering why I was so “hands on” today…..running scared because the boss was micro managing for the first time for quite a while. That was due to a wee Lent from CQN!

    Hail Hail Gerry

They are one in a long line of creditors and they are the last of their worries, so although you are right they don’t care.

I heard today haven’t paid Parks for the bus! He is a Hun so that’s how far their loyalty goes and the charity money, at the moment the administrators don’t care, they are still not paying bills, they will be looked at very seriously very shortly. Seems to me Whyte has played a blinder, albeit he is bonkers!

FYI, I had the same experience with the malware warning, using the latest version of opera, as Bobby Lennox can beat them.

The SPL rules and SFA rules will not have changed substantially on this position since substantially since inauguration of SPL. SPL rules were basically those of the old Premier League renamed were appropriate.

Do you have links showing this particular rule came in in 2005?

Not doubting you. Would like to read it for myself.

Cup final tickets went up for sale late this afternoon on the CFC website mate.

  15. Paul… Nice job on the reskin… Very clear and less furniture. Hope you don’t get hurt by the drop in advertising revenue. Fielding a lighter site in the expectation of an avalanche of stories, comments and refreshes perhaps?

Sounds very unlucky and very sore for big Dan… Maybe not the most cultured footballer, but an honest one, and I hope he’s around for raising the flag.

How many Celts have they had on over the last few weeks saying they want them saved?

I think every person I’ve spoken to both Celts and non-Celts want them to get what they deserve.

I’d fine it hard to believe so many misguided Celts actually exist!

Now I can stop trawling the internet for lesser sites.

I live a long way from Glasgow;I get there whenever I can to catch a match, but otherwise I rely on TV and the net.
