SFA corporate governance questions

Do you like our new lightweight template?  There’s a lot less green and tons more whyte.  Like it or not, the whyte template will be here for a wee while, so try to enjoy it.

Ticket arrangements for our game at Ibrox next month were always going to be tasty.  With rumour that Rangers were heading for administration, Celtic refused to forward their rivals tickets for the game on 28 December on credit, demanding payment in advance.  Rangers found the money after a failed appeal to the better nature of the Celtic board.  This proved to be a wise move as only a few weeks later Rangers were in administration leaving a trail of unpaid debts to other clubs in their wake, but an awkward situation was likely to follow with Rangers (in administration) looking to reciprocate with payment terms.

Celtic are good for the credit, but if they pay for tickets, what’s the chance Rangers will survive long enough to fulfil the fixture?

None of us are in a position to tell, but Celtic cannot sell tickets to their own supporters in the chance that Rangers will not honour them.  If Rangers are still in business, I expect a busy few days leading up to the fixture as cash and tickets are transferred.

And to think we’ve listened to all the ‘Old Firm conspiracy’ theories all these years….. didn’t turn out that way after all.

Really pleased to see STV picked up on our story of last week on the potential improper registration of players and managed to get an anonymous quote from the SFA suggesting “that if conclusive evidence can be produced, the Scottish FA could launch a wider investigation into the conduct of the club”.

“Could”!  This story has now been reported by several mainstream media outlets.  It looks like the SFA will have to be dragged into examining this by Uefa.  Embarrassingly, they are likely to conclude an inquiry into Rangers next week without reference to the 10,000lb gorilla (as No Surrender Johnston would say) in the room.

There are now serious questions of corporate governance at the association, something the chief exec was keen to avoid. If the SFA do initiate an inquiry into the multiple contract allegation, they should start by asking some of the guys who have arrived at Ibrox from continental Europe. I hear Joachim Bjorklund, a decent defender who signed his only Rangers contract in 1996, is still working in the game.

I’ve posted on this a number of times after games, especially after the games agin the Administrators’ Eleven. Itr makes such a difference to focus on the ball! Even last Saturday, the players made it clear to the Man-in-the-middle that they weren’t happy with their colleagues getting kicked stupid and putting pressure on him to do something. Until the Stephen McLean debacle a couple of weeks ago I actually thought the worst of the crap, biased refereeing was behind us.

Djbee. You can’t get season 4 legally yet. I think in march it’s released in Australia. You’ll be able to get it on eBay after that.

That’s what i was wondering about, i think Celtic complained (to SFA, police?) about it.

  8. Re LC final tickets.

Thanks for the replies regarding the sections being sold one at a time. You are correct!

To be honest, I’ve had a bee in my bonnet about the corporate tickets, and I was looking for an excuse to find a way of attacking it. I know they need the money, but where are the ‘corporate’ fans every other week???

  9. Was it some evil hun voodoo what caused it?

There are plenty of nazi like black magicians on the dark side. I know from bitter experience. One of them stole my good jacket years ago and used it in a necrological ritual- i had a hun hex put on me just before they won 3in a row. I personally blame that curse for those fallow years…

Or was it just a virus?

    Breaking bad season 4.

    £40 on eBay.

Think I’ll wait a few months for the price to come down.

  16. Anyhoo – has anyone heard from the SFA regarding the involvement of politicians in Scottish fitba affairs or indeed from them on the SFA inquiry?

    I know I haven’t.

These people only respond to being put under pressure. I know it from my Union activities when dealing with management types you have to be a persistent pain in the neck. You don’t need to be rude, you don’t need to shout (most of the time) you just need to keep at them and keep at them and keep at them. Ask the right questions. When they make out that your questions are stupid ask them some more and ask the same thing in a different way. Make clear you are also asking others the same questions and that others know they haven’t answered them. Find someone they work with that they have issues with and let them know subtly that you can’t get answers from his colleague – professional rivalries among these people are a very handy tool! Pressure is all they respond to and it gets results.

I urge you all to apply some to Regan and co.

Don’t know how it has latched itself on as default search engine for IE, Chrome and Firefox. I’ve managed to change the default on IE but not the others.

Could this be due to the problems yesterday?
