SFA corporate governance questions

987

Do you like our new lightweight template?  There’s a lot less green and tons more whyte.  Like it or not, the whyte template will be here for a wee while, so try to enjoy it.

Ticket arrangements for our game at Ibrox next month were always going to be tasty.  With rumour that Rangers were heading for administration, Celtic refused to forward their rivals tickets for the game on 28 December on credit, demanding payment in advance.  Rangers found the money after a failed appeal to the better nature of the Celtic board.  This proved to be a wise move as only a few weeks later Rangers were in administration leaving a trail of unpaid debts to other clubs in their wake, but an awkward situation was likely to follow with Rangers (in administration) looking to reciprocate with payment terms.

Celtic are good for the credit, but if they pay for tickets, what’s the chance Rangers will survive long enough to fulfil the fixture?

None of us are in a position to tell, but Celtic cannot sell tickets to their own supporters in the chance that Rangers will not honour them.  If Rangers are still in business, I expect a busy few days leading up to the fixture as cash and tickets are transferred.

And to think we’ve listened to all the ‘Old Firm conspiracy’ theories all these years….. didn’t turn out that way after all.

Really pleased to see STV picked up on our story of last week on the potential improper registration of players and managed to get an anonymous quote from the SFA suggesting “that if conclusive evidence can be produced, the Scottish FA could launch a wider investigation into the conduct of the club”.

“Could”!  This story has now been reported by several mainstream media outlets.  It looks like the SFA will have to be dragged into examining this by Uefa.  Embarrassingly, they are likely to conclude an inquiry into Rangers next week without reference to the 10,000lb gorilla (as No Surrender Johnston would say) in the room.

There are now serious questions of corporate governance at the association, something the chief exec was keen to avoid. If the SFA do initiate an inquiry into the multiple contract allegation, they should start by asking some of the guys who have arrived at Ibrox from continental Europe. I hear Joachim Bjorklund, a decent defender who signed his only Rangers contract in 1996, is still working in the game.

The Swedish national team might be laible for Dan’s wages at least until his contract with us runs out in the summer. I think we kept resigning Kennedy after his injury and managed to reclaim the lot off Romania. Dan might not lose out financially but what wouldn’t you give to be in the Celtic team that put the Huns in their grave?

re scumbag Winter, a bhoy posted a link to a sports website where he is the new blogger. The editors email addy was also posted.

  3. I think Regan will chuck it before he is blamed for the on goings at the SFA, and return to the anonimity of English cricket.

The clean up and modernisation of the SFA is far from complete and if he resigns they will appoint another of their own

Paul67: Like the new look. A lot easier for us auld guys with failing eyesight to read without our specs! Great articles over the last couple of weeks. I admire your fortitude in writing as you do when your name is in the public domain. It is easy for us to hide behind our noms de blog and spout forth our opinions knowing that the only consequence of our commenting is appearing ignorant in the eyes of our fellow CQNers and getting a bit of a slagging or, perish the thought, called a hun!

Given that tomorrow is the last day of the month, will contracts have to be terminated tomorrow to avoid paying wages they cannot afford? What are the chances of naebalance or laugherty being one of the first out the door, since keeping them will cost a lot of empty ginger bottles to pay guys who can’t play again this season? Will they be able to ditch a diddy who is fit and can fill a shirt ahead of two guys who are getting money for nothing until the end of the season?

The next few days will be very interesting.

Can we sue that big clown Zlatan? Not here in Sweden you can’t.

Here he is regularly quoted as the best player in the world – that’s what he tells everyone who asks and they believe him. You wouldn’t believe all the waffle.

He elbows, slaps and punches (all captured on tv) – universally condemned in everyone else – here, it’s part of his temperament and what makes him a special case above others.

Heidcase would be a better description.

My late wife, a fiercely proud Swede and a big sports fan, couldn’t stand the twat.

Nope they should arrive tomorrow, I guess. If you have an on-line account with a group made up of season ticket holders then you can see if they get tickets.

My group includes four hence I was able to buy all the tickets before the mail arrives tomorrow – obviously only possible if they have been allocated a ticket.

Love the new layout, simplicity its self!

    Well done.

  20. If someone wants to find an illegal download for anything it’s as simple as googling it, putting links on Paul’s blog to illegal download or fileshare sites can get paul into all sorts of trouble

I know your post is addressed to Paul67 but if you will allow me my tuppence worth:

Tomorrow will be a significant day regarding contracts. I am not sure that liquidation will happen tomorrow but I firmly believe it will happen. The thing is with liquidation is that a petition has to be made to the Court to liquidate a Company. If the Court agree to the ‘Winding-Up’ Order, there is usually a period of time before it is effected, so I don’t think liquidation will happen tomorrow.

Back to the question about the contracts. All employees from your Tea-Lady to the Manager, Players etc. are already Creditors. After fourteen days the Administrators have to honour ALL contracts, that is why tomorrow will be significant. If there are no redundancies then, the players that are left on the books will need to have their contracts in full. If they are not honoured any Player/employee would have the right to walk. Rhetorical question but could you see McGregor, Davies, Whittaker staying around if they were not going to be paid what was in their contract.

Tomorrow will be a big day but not necessarily the day they go bust unless they have absolutely no money.

    I smell liquid…

    Keep the Faith!

    Hail Hail!

  26. New format is awrite. I mean were not paying for this are we so what right do we have to complain.
