SPL could learn from Irish FA. SFA could learn from everyone

207

Before the SPL launch headlong into the process of ensuring Financial Fair Play they would do well to look over the water at the Irish Football Association (we’ll leave aside the fact that it’s the Irish FA who are on top of this situation there, but the league who are looking to tighten things up here, as the SFA await the next Any Other Business moment on a scheduled meeting).

Each month, every IFA club are required to complete a form which details information on whether wages, PAYE, NI and VAT have been paid.  It also asks if historic HMRC repayment plans have been maintained, whether lenders have indicated they will remove or not renew borrowing facilities and several other questions designed to flush out future problems.  Clubs, which are largely part-time with volunteer administrators, are also required to submit audited accounts.

Importantly, clubs must also authorise the IFA to inquire directly to HMRC to confirm details on the form are submitted accurately.

This single form, with authority to speak to HMRC, would have prevented Craig Whyte’s ‘business model’ from getting off the ground.

While the SPL should be applauded for tackling this issue their action must embarrass the moribund SFA.  Embarrassment might reach further heights when the SPL call SFA president, Campbell Ogilvie, to give evidence into their inquiry into Rangers’ alleged double contract practice.

  1. The only person who can take the club from Whyte is Sir Minty if he deems he did not fulfill all the clauses in the contract they signed.

Do we really think Sir Minty will do that?

  2. SaintLubo:

King and Rankers sound like perfect match- a marriage made in Hell…

  3. Sir Minty advised Whyte that Ticketus were available if he required further funding.

It is written in black & white in the contract between them.

“It just gets worse and worse. Essentially one shister sold us to an even bigger shister and now one of the people who was shistered out of 20 million wants it back so he can essentially buy the club from the second shister.

Everyone else at the club during the time the first shister was in charge are in no way culpable as they didn’t realise the first shister was infact a shister until the second shister who transpired to be a bigger shister, but not terribly good at hiding his shistering got caught by the taxman.

The subsequent investigation into the the second shister now points the finger at the first shister who may well, ironically and indirectly, save the club from the second shister by having to be back his previous shisterings to those he shistered.

    Clear as ******* mud. ”

I think I’ll wait for the film version ” Spanner and the shisters”

  7. I see Venger is in trouble again after having a go at the ref after last night’s Champions Lge thriller. This guy must be the biggest moan in football. I’m no lover of the EPL but Arsenal appeared to have more than eleven players on the pitch last night such was the commitment shown by the team. Is it correct to say that Theo Walcott was the only English born player on last night’s Arsenal team? It was obvious that Vengar’s team could not possibly maintain that pace and would eventually fail to claw back a four goal deficit. Interesting, in a newspaper interview last Sunday Trapattoni and Marco Tardelli do not rate the EPL where athleticsm more than football skills count with exception of some of the foreign players.

Not a snowflakes chance in hell Sir Minty imo was well aware of the Ticketus deal he wanted shot of RFC toute suite to save his reputation before the gorilla got loose.

The word ‘Limited’ for a company derives from Limited Liability Status. This means that the Liability of the Shareholders to and for the Company is Limited to the amount of their shareholding. They are not creditors, they are owners, but creditors can only call on them to pay up on any outstanding shares, that’s the limit of their exposure.

Hope this helps. King has no claim as a creditor.

    Q & A with Dave King.

    Q. How much knowledge did you have of the use of EBTs to pay players at Rangers ?

    A. I only became aware of the true nature of the EBTs towards the end of David Murray’s ownership.

Was he not still a director then ?

Whose team/company were dodging tax AND fielding ineligible players ?

And I take it he didn’t inform the authorities LOL.

If, or when, Rangers go into liquidation; ie, cease to exist; who would take part on their behalf in any investigation by the SPL / SFA into contractual wrong-doing with players’ registrations?

Will it not be too late to strip the now defunct club of any, (ill-gained), past titles?

  20. merseycelt lmfao as the big house door slams shut on

The only problem I have with the ongoing revelations is proper time to digest and comment on it all. We all need to soak it up as it is likely to be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to gloat because they have no defence.

Listening to thick asses like chico and diddsy last night, they communicated a truly honest desperate hopelessness about their club’s plight: eg newco must be allowed to enter SPL (the rules say so) and, from dodds, he (objectively) pleaded for a new league to be formed to accommodate his team.

I do find jabba threatening and a bit scary-joe pesci in full gangster mode and I think that’s why he is afforded ‘respect’ (it’s obviously not what he says).

In respect of the gregg wylde thing, should McMoist not be advocating holding on to that type of player: young, cheap and with potential. Should he not be arging for the promotion of youth (they have little to play for this season and are getting regularly gubbed anyway) and saying this to the administrators, advising them to get rid of the like of elbows, laughatme, papac and whittaker. Costly employees with little or no sell-on value.

The man appears to be doing nothing except what he is expert at, ie self promotion using empty soundbites with the collusion of the MSM.

If he had any dignity and a real love of his club, he would “do walking away”.

    Very interesting announcement

Needless to say COUNTLESS more questions arise

If Rangers players had two contracts then I can´t see them not being stripped of titles. If they didn´t then they would WIN the big tax case. I cant

quite round off his last statement. You also have to ask why the “rangers spin doctoring machine” ditched the old guard to run with the new. Of course

the reason is that Sir David Murray told them too … I also believe that Kings statement has been penned in collusion with Sir David Murray.

  28. Not once in that Dave King statement did I see the phrases “legal action”, “court proceedings” or “legal advice”. He doesn’t say he intends to sue, issue a writ, take Murray to court, seek damages or any other form of words that would indicate this being anything other than a whinge to David Murray about losing his investment. If he does intend to sue Murray then he has yet to confirm that!
