Spotlight will inevitably find Moussa, wanted or not

356

You know when you get to a stage with a player when you think, “Moussa, how about you slow down with the international goals?” Celtic are ticking along well right now, and while I appreciate how important it is that when we sell players, we sell them at an elevated price, I’d be happy if Moussa didn’t attract too much attention right now.

His hat-trick for France under-21 last night was another milestone in his inextricable rise to the top. Coming hard on the heels of Olivier Ntcham stealing the show last week for the same international side, we can expect plenty of scouts at Celtic Park in the coming weeks.

Australia v Honduras tomorrow morning is the last World Cup qualification fixture involving Celtic players before headcount returns to full levels at Lennoxtown. This international break (for those who got the break) was invaluable to Celtic. We have two games per week from Ross County on Saturday until the winter break on 30 December.

That’s 13 games in 42 days, including a cup final, two Champions League fixtures, Aberdeen, Hibs, Hearts and Newco; the squad will be stretched to its limit.

Congratulations to all concerned on the arrival of Jude!

  2. Adverts are annoying, and thats a fact. Although can anyone remember the 90’s? In the early days of the Internet most companies used to charge you a subscription to use their browser, companies like AOL used to charge around 9.99 a month. Then Compuserve, i think it was, brought out a free service, but it had Ad’s, still everyone piled on it forcing all the other Companies to do the same.

One other wee hack ive found is if you click on the circled ‘i’ at the start of the address bar, just before the www. part, it brings up the site settings, from there you can block pop ups, turn off javascript or flash settings.

Cowiebhoy – congratulations from me and Wee BGFC.

Wee BGFC – amongst his many other roles – is the self-declared ‘King of the Wee People’. If the grand-wean is looking for someone to take them under their wing at away games in a few years, then Wee BGFC will be happy to oblige :-))

  4. I would never criticise MON after what he did for Celtic and the memories he gave us.

I wonder how a match between MON’s first 11 and Brendan’s would play out.

  6. Australia will struggle in World Cup, think Mooy is a bit overhyped, must be an EPL thing.

Some good flashes of skill from big Rogic but looks bit short of fitness/sharpness

  7. Cowiebhoy – great news my friend congratulations. Give my best to Jenna and Martin, it was really nice meeting them earlier this year. Jude is a braw name too. My morning grapefruit juice is raised to you all.

Honduras get their consolation goal. No adverts. No charges. Just fitba. Fascinating eh

Interesting, never noticed they dont have Sponsors on the shirts before, although they do in Rugby.

  9. Looking at the joke that is CL qualifier dates for next season. They begin before the WC ends so we potentially are without Lustig, Boyata and Rogic (probable) and Dembele (possible if he keeps banging in the goals for France U21s).

The need for a new CH in January to allow him time to settle and form a partnership with Jozo becomes more important, as is the continued development through game time of Tony Ralston.

So the Semi’s line up for the WC is going to be Sweden, Belgium, Australia, France? ;-)

  12. DBHOY Everyone but the eventual winners will struggle in the WC. Have you noticed it’s a team game? They have a presence in the WC and that’s not a privilege earned by many.

If we cant get passed the 1st round with the squad we have,it will be the worst day in our history. The standard .It will be someone from some place like Litchtenstein. We wont be the only team affected.

I think we have plenty of cover in midfield, and Ralston will be just fine.

Just thinking – if Scotland had qualified we would have had a whole team’s worth of players at the World Cup when CL qualification begins!

  18. Magnus

I’m glad the ozzies qualified, I cheered every goal.

They struggled at times against a poor Honduras and before that a poor Syrian team , the portents don’t look good for the WC

  19. Personally I’m glad this world cup pish is over for most of our players.

I don’t buy the notion that O’Neill is washed up/yesterdays manager or any other ageist rubbish.

He took a limited group of players(minus two of their first picks in Coleman and Walters) to a playoff and lost to a far, far superior, technically excellent Denmark team.

These idealists that think technically weaker sides can compete by trying to pass better teams off the park just don’t understand football. Strong defence is equally as important and had Ireland gone 2-0 up last night it would have been a different game.

As it was, it was a pleasure to watch Denmark to be fair, after some poor, tense playoff matches.

How much would Sisto set us back?!

I’d imagine any new CH would be to partner Dedryck, we just need to hope we have enough sticking plaster to hold Jozo together until Dedryck returns from Russia.

  23. Happy Hoopy Birthday to Mrs CRC.
