    Good sensible post.

I posted earlier re the Hibees. What was that about the hand ball?

    Shockarooney !

Thought ref Willie Collum did well tonight.

  2. !!Bada Bing!! on

WC-with respect, you shouldn’t hint and tell us stuff on here, that are nothing than rumours,so who is getting fed Rubbish? Maybe you. HH

  3. Bring on Alex Neil big time he will sort out our leaky back 4 defensive line up mark my words

  4. CowieBhoy. I don’t think the correct registration of players matters. In fact rules in general, who needs them?

Those points were won on the pitch. #letfootballwin :)

Come to think of it was that fine ever paid?

When I first heard that Lawwell had given a interview to The Sun I thought to myself, that’s a blunder.

On reflection it’s not. He’s opening up and explaining Celtic’s position and reasoning for decisions taken whilst reaching a mass audience. Whether Celtic supporting non Sun readers like it or not, and I’m one of them, we need to have a relationship of sorts with the most popular tabloid. Simply put, it’s just good business practice.

The Sun apologised for their dreadful Hillsborough coverage. Well placed trusted sources lied to their journalists. They’ve paid a heavy price for that but as tabloids go I dont see any difference with their lack of morals and those of their competitors. The only noticeable difference with the Sun is, they are the nations favourite arse wipe.

I think as Celtic supporters we should recognise there is a great deal we dont know about the reality behind the scenes. The fact that Lawwell has opened up should be applauded.

Shooting him down in flames appears to be raison d’etre for many on here but I doubt that reflects the majority or anything remotely close to it.

Constructive criticism by all means but surely all of us including PL want the best for Celtic going forward, putting a team on the park that continues domestic dominance and can compete in Europe at a level that’s measurable with other clubs in a comparable financial disposition.

All this ugly in fighting isnt doing us any favours and threatens our domestic dominance.

    I want 10.

    Anyone want to discuss?

    Hail Hail

BillyBear if you are there…I stand corrected. You jogged my memory. 2-3 it was. Did Tommy Gemmell score that night?? (it was played in daylight)…or is my memory playing tricks again?

  7. Hunderbirds…If we needed Napolean Bonaparte, Lawwell would give us Napolean Dynamite.

  9. Really meant to be asleep by now but the crap here is getting to epic proportions.

    “leaky back 4”?

That has conceded least goals in the league of any team?

For the love of God debate tactics or positions but stop the made up crap about a team in crisis.

    DefinitelybedtimenowCSC

  10. With the likes off EA, CM , ML in our back 4 expect more of the same results all these guys should IMO be allowed to go asap

  11. Ah feck. Just watching the news re anti biotics. stop the bus. we’ll all be dead as Rangers in no time.

  12. Aiden bhoy

truth be told I do fancy myself as a bit of comedian but alas I fear your laughing at me :-)

  13. Bada Bing, perhaps(mibees) the hints come from an informed stance?

    That’s a hint.

Bang bang we shot them down.

    Laters.

    Anyhoos, where’s me fleg?

  14. Foxy, I walked around CP on Sunday behind a guy with don’t buy the sun t-shirt on. For me today we shat on that guy who the club had invited.

We have our own club channels and unofficial channels. They should be used.

  15. weebobbycollins on

Tontine Tim…you’re right about Vodjvodina…but it was probably a good result as it gave us one of the great European nights at CP…

  16. I’m not too surprised by tonights result. Or too bothered to be honest. Most of the players will, rightly, be less than enthused at the prospect of breaking a leg or rupturing a ligament for a nothing game. A lot of these games are decided by the odd percent of effort. Even inferior players can take advantage of a team not wanting to commit its self.

That said, Efe’s header? Setting aside the fact that Efe is, as I’ve mentioned several times, Olivier Tebilly mk2 (athletic but utterly lacking in instinct and judgement) what exactly have the defensive coaches been teaching the guys? Rule no1 – when in doubt get rid of it in the opposite direction to your goal. I remember in my youth playing with Brian ‘Killer’ Kilcline, my first game with him and him stressing the ‘get rid’ mantra. I thought it was crude and rubbish. Then we lost a goal. All of a sudden, it made sense. It should be rule no1. If Efe is incapable of following a simple rule he should be nowhere near the first team. His inclusion is a coaching error. A terrible one.

With the above in mind, and me not being too worried about the score, I have to say I’m far, far, more concerned at Lawwell hitching up his skirt for the Sun. For a club that have banned Hugh Keevins, I’m astonished at the poor judgement shown in speaking to the Murdoch press, and worse, the Sun. They’ll tell any lie – and for the Hillsborough reporting and subsequent failure to feature the inquest verdict on their front page? We should have nothing, nothing at all to do with them. And let’s not even mention the phone hacking, the law breaking, the misogyny, the right wing rhetoric. I’m also surprised that the lead article wouldn’t excoriate Peter Lawwell for speaking to them. Well, I’m not, because that would imply that Lawwell would be criticised, and we know that doesn’t here. But The Sun? Really? Disgusting.

    Cowiebhoy,

Sam Wardrop is the usual right back for the Development team

More to come from Lawwell in tomorrow’s Sun apparently..Jeez oh.

  18. Giggsy

The thought of the Sun re Hillsborough or just the the Sun in general repulses me.

I dont think Peter Lawwells interview with the Sun was an insult to the 96. Like I said the Sun apologised and made clear that they were lied to by trusted sources.

To summarise crudely I reckon Peter Lawwell is trying to reach out to the rif raf that makes up the body of our support and not the hard core with stoney faced principles that contribute on here. Lets get real.

Its entirely acceptable for the CEO of Celtic to reach out to the mass body via a tabloid. It’s entirely understandable that he wants to have good relations with the tabloid that has the mass readership of the nation.

I dont like it one bit but I understand PL’s reasoning. It make’s good business sense.

  19. Foxy…

    I want 10.

And clearly you’re prepared to pay any price to get it. I’m not. I’d rather we showed morals, courage and ethics – even if the price was never winning another trophy again.

Despite a net spend of whatever at Liverpool over a very short period (I’ve seen figures range from £90 to £130m) Brendan Rodgers has a lower win % than Roy Evans.

Could Brendan cut it at Celtic?

Over the last 50 years. The league has been won 46 times by Celtic or the dead mob. Aberdeen won it 3 times under Fergie. The last time being 84-85. Dundee United once.

I think we are now at 26 Titles in 50 years. Rangers officially died at 20 (If they are allowed to keep the titles during proven cheating and tax avoidance:))

Not bad for an immigrant club, playing in a SPFL/SFA set up!!

  22. Looks like Izzy is for the off , even thou we have no manager.. Wonder who is making that decision .

Celtic are more than just a club but we are not a political movement.

  24. Foxy, it he wanted to reach the ‘rif raf’ then all he needs to do is bring in a decent manager and sign a few half decent players.

    No need for fluff pieces.

  25. Foxy…

You say the Sun have apologised for Hillsborough.

They’re so sorry that they’re facing trial for hacking the phone of a Liverpool director.

But what of “Gotcha!”, what of the lies about the Miner’s strike? Or the nothing story about Celtic and Poppies? Or Referencing Celtic when Anthony Stokes’ father hung an anti-queen banner in his pub in Ireland?

  26. BABASONICOS71 on

We weren’t up to much tonight and the two goals we conceded were risible. The performance and the result aside (and in the grand scheme of things they matter little) there was some sparkle amid the gloom;namely Ryan Christie, the debut of another young full-back AND Leigh scoring his 40th goal.If you add in the fact we have already secured 5iar then things don’t seem so bad,at least for me anyway.Leaving the Govan whole after watching us lose a cup final to Raith Rovers and continue our ‘wilderness’ I would have given anything to ‘suffer’ the current state of affairs.

I suppose you can’t please everybody and some will never be happy regardless of how the team does but it really is important to be thankful for what you have at times.Life’s too short, enjoy the good times (and being champions IS good).Sure,we could be better but we could be worse. And if that doesn’t juggle your balls then be content with the fact that you support Celtic;that’s enough to give my soul a wee jig.

    FOREVERANDEVER!

  27. Winnings. You may well be right (about supporters all buying season tickets not about Celtic publicly backing res 12).

If so it will be my saddest ever moment as a Celtic supporter. I walk permanently walk away.

Those of you who keep going need to at least acknowledge you are content with cheating etc and no more complaining about refs or same clubs or downsizing.

    Because you propped it up.

As I said we shall see. Either way. Celtic won’t be the same again.

  28. SydneyTim says sack Lawell now on

    Foxy

Peter Lawell has made too many wrong decisions in last 8 years that have cost our club well over 60m pounds

He received a whooping 1.6m salary in 2012 Since then max. Bonus to make salary 1m

Shocking return. He has failed and has to go

As for sun. Well think that was the straw that broke Camels back

  29. P8DDY

I agree with you re The Sun, I hate that tabloids and all tabloids with a passion.

Nevertheless for the reasons I gave I think we as a football club plc have to consider the world we live in and the rules that are played.

  30. All through the season Some dicks called for us to play some young bhoys,so Ronni obliged tonight, and what happened, the blog’s still in melt down, for fuck sake grow up, the League was won, no big disaster.

I know that I swore but it was after the nine o’clock watershed so I should be okay.

  31. Delighted to see LG hit the 40.

Cannot think of anyone since the King of Kings who has so deserved his Celtic success for the work he’s put in. got to wonder at the sincerity of those who panned him before he signed due to joining in a tactless ditty about Rudi Skatchel while he was in a pub full of fellow hibees. Well done the griff.

Let’s hope he’s not a ‘Bobby Petta’ like Johansen. The vilified Norwegian’s game relies almost entirely on the timing of his runs. This season, his timing’s been of the old cooncil bus service variety; If the timing’s off he’s completely ineffective. Last year we saw the very best of him as everythign clicked. This season we’ve seen the worst. Whether he gets another chance to impress will be down to a boss who will nt favour him due to national allegince. My money says he’ll be shipped in the summer.

Play Christie and Allan, and PROTECT them. They’re inventive young footballers. We need inventive young footballers. Rogic and Biton? Frankly I could take or leave the two. Some quality performances but Rogic stirkes me as being of questionable fitness and patchy form, whereas Biton’s antics vs the Hun at Hampden put me right off him; seemingly struck with a mortal injury to his thigh and wanting off until he realised we’d used all the subs. Five minutes later he was charging about again without any visible effects I may add. It seemed cowardly.

Efe- never a defender. An athlete who would be best deployed as a reliable defensive midfielder, brought on from the bench when we needed to shore-up games. You cannot give him last-man responsibility; his concentration levels are not sharp enough to be a top-class defender. he needs people around him to cover his ocassional mistakes; playing as last man he’s exposed every time.

Sviatchenko – a future club captain. His defending is mostly excellent, and it’s the little things that cumulatively make him great – simple qualities consistently repeated: interceptions, stepping in to clear, positional sense and timing, cambativ ein the air and steely with his tackles. Plus he looks one of those men you can count on never to hide; each game’s a personal challenge as well as a team effort. I like the cut of the fella’s jib.

Roony D – you came, you saw, you talked a fine game, you roared a bit. Then you undermined everyone’s expectations and contradicted every sweeping theoretical pronouncement with baffling practice – Guidetti playing every week when he clearly wasn’t interested in staying; players failing to match the fitness levels of other SPL teams never mind some of the Euro boys who ran our arses off; favoutrites playing badly but kept on the teamsheet; GMS, Armstrong, Johansen, Cifti; others frozen out who fitted your mould entirely or were blatantly better/as good as what you had/brought in – Stokes, Izzy, Henderson, Scepovic. And the dynamic system we were promised and saw briefly versus Inter was but spit in an ocean of inconsequential possesion with no cutitng edge or sense of purpose.

Sometimes the P.E teacher’s great ideas don’t translate into practical reality, Ronny. Sad to see your nice guy personality go but hope you learn and develop your ideas into something tangible. Two years at Celtic ansd you still never knew your best eleven. Criminal. Hey, you made a few hundred grand off us and no doubt had the burds dripping off you so I ain’t all sympathy and empathy mate…

  32. FOXY…

No I wouldnt, not at any price anyway.

    What price is too much?

But I do recognise the horrible corrupt world we live in and that Celtic have to compete in it.

Not at any price you say. And then advocate working with people you know are corrupt. How corrupt is too corrupt? Is hacking phones OK? Not paying taxes ok? Lying ok? Colluding with the police in direct contravention of peoples rights? Is that ok? Where is that line?

Celtic are more than just a club but we are not a political movement.

Ahh. So being ethical is political? I’ve not mentioned politics here, but you have mentioned and advocated working with corrupt organisations. Should we work with Rangers too? Maybe collude with the SFA if the price is right?

Of course, the Celtic board is non-political. Unless you’re Labour or Tory. And then they are all too political. Have a wee look at the freebies “Dr” John Reid enjoyed from Celtic in his register of interests – all while trousering 7x the national average wage. Non political? That’s even more preposterous a position than saying we should work with known corrupt organisations.
