Stand up for the Champions

I know when you begin to dominate a championship that when another team eventually lift the trophy it can seem like an intolerable failure; compare our distress in 2009 to our resolve to do better after the final home game in 1996.  Time adds perspective to our triumphs.  As does not being there and seeing photos of the presentation hours after the event.

These are special times, enjoy them.

Many thanks to the Columba Club in Blantyre for Friday night’s Question and Answer event, and to the irrepressible Phil Agnew, who organised the event.  I was delighted to share a stage with Paul McConville and Phil Mac Giolla Bhain.  Great to see so many CQN’ers there too, my only regret is that I didn’t get a chance to catch up with everyone. With supporters like those in Blantyre on Friday night, we’re in good hands.

Remember to buy Heart of a Lion, Willie Wallace’s magnificent autobiography, available below.

  1. Bobby Murdoch,

Faded a bit of the scene since he burst onto scene with Real Madrid. If your asking me would i take him, Aye !! Could be a good replacement for Hooper.

Would love us to get a good centre forward in the Sutoon Van Hooijdonk mould to complement a goalscorer like a Raul Jimenez, Eduardo Vargas , Nelson Valdez type

He is around 30 yo and should not cost much.

Plus he knows where the goals are.

IMO a bit more experience and muscle upfront would not go amiss

  6. Suprised big Johann no recommended Swedish international Behrang Safri for left back.

Give the success we have over the years with scandinavian players and defenders especially, might be worth another look this summer.

Butting in ——- Javier Portillo ..

Remember him being on loan at Fiorentina ——- the Fiorentina fans thought he was a tottie . He didn’t look like a Real Madrid player !

Wasn’t taking the huff, just didn’t want to barge in and interrupt without being welcomed to the site in the traditional manner, that’s all.

Have enjoyed reading the contributions from (most) posters, over the last few years, and have until now resisted contributing myself, for fear of being ‘sucked in’.

My first post this morning was in reply to ‘onemalloy’, who I thought I could help out a wee bit in relation to his query about moving seats. Nothing ground breaking, just trying to help a fellow Tim, that’s all, but now that I’ve been told to “pull my neck in”, I’m feeling much more at home, and might “have something to say” in the future.

No problem at all, delighted I was able to help in a small way ;-) I got an email from Charlie thanking me, so I assume they’re reminiscing ;-))

Nothing quite like a good greet!

  17. Aye he is at Gremio on loan.

Theres a thread on rm about fat ally and Neil Lennon playing golf in Portugal during the close season. Some of the inmates are going postal about this and calling for the chubster,s head.

Nothing to do with him being a crap manager though!!

Then there are the more sinister posts……….

    Thanks .

Napoli played him as a winger.. The support didn’t rate him . He was often jeered..

Strife brewing between Cavani and De Laurentis . 3 clubs are said to have agreed to pay 63 million euros for Cavani . Cavani quoted as saying he wants to play for Real Madrid . Real are not one of those 3 clubs . De Laurentis saying he owns Napoli and by extension —-Cavani.
