Stand up for the Champions

I know when you begin to dominate a championship that when another team eventually lift the trophy it can seem like an intolerable failure; compare our distress in 2009 to our resolve to do better after the final home game in 1996.  Time adds perspective to our triumphs.  As does not being there and seeing photos of the presentation hours after the event.

These are special times, enjoy them.

Many thanks to the Columba Club in Blantyre for Friday night’s Question and Answer event, and to the irrepressible Phil Agnew, who organised the event.  I was delighted to share a stage with Paul McConville and Phil Mac Giolla Bhain.  Great to see so many CQN’ers there too, my only regret is that I didn’t get a chance to catch up with everyone. With supporters like those in Blantyre on Friday night, we’re in good hands.

Remember to buy Heart of a Lion, Willie Wallace’s magnificent autobiography, available below.

  1. SoT – Precisely the reason why I wouldn’t like to see Watford achieve promotion this year, they took advantage of a loophole in the championsip rules to build a team of loanees.

If that team gets promoted, it’ll be a very different team plays in the EPL next season as the loan rules change. And probably a very poor team.

  2. The reintroduction of Broonie balanced the side again, and reduces the loss of Wanyama and Kayal for the Cup Final.

However, here’s a glimpse of Neil’s secret team sheet so far…………………James Forrest

Zola was a quality player, had a touch of the Lubos about him, now proving himself as a manager, Udinese’s gain will be Watford’s loss for sure…

BTW: Should have mentioned Luther Blissett have rarely seen a more effective CF.

If you have something to say… say it. If nobody comes back at you, then most probably they are obsessed with the huns and their mire.

Pull your neck in lad and say whatever you want to say.

You have a voice as meaningful as any other voice. Don’t get the stop because others don’t hear your voice yet.

  10. Reading on FB that David Currie of Shortbread who was at mass in Paisley was asked why he does not call them Sevco.

He said he could not afford the glazier’s bills.

    Only in Scotland.

Perhaps we should not underestimate the fear factor for those in the media.
