Stand up for the Champions

I know when you begin to dominate a championship that when another team eventually lift the trophy it can seem like an intolerable failure; compare our distress in 2009 to our resolve to do better after the final home game in 1996.  Time adds perspective to our triumphs.  As does not being there and seeing photos of the presentation hours after the event.

These are special times, enjoy them.

Many thanks to the Columba Club in Blantyre for Friday night’s Question and Answer event, and to the irrepressible Phil Agnew, who organised the event.  I was delighted to share a stage with Paul McConville and Phil Mac Giolla Bhain.  Great to see so many CQN’ers there too, my only regret is that I didn’t get a chance to catch up with everyone. With supporters like those in Blantyre on Friday night, we’re in good hands.

Remember to buy Heart of a Lion, Willie Wallace’s magnificent autobiography, available below.

Starry P – it’s Craig all the way.

He is the unseen master of merriment.

  2. listen, I’m as critical of the standard of play in the SPL as anyone. But anyone who thinks Gary Hooper should ply his trade with QPR in the Championship is havng a laff – I watched the first leg semi-finals of the playoffs and frankly the standard, even taking into account the time as we reach the end of the season, is pretty poor.

Its about time those southerners woke up and realised that playing a match at Derby is no more attractive than at Dingwall. At least there is always the prospect of travel and playing in Europe.

As for Stoke City?!! Hats off to them for talking up their club. But Stoke’s a hole, the club is minor league and they play in the, ahem, ‘Britannia’ stadium. Comparing the Celtic with Stoke? I’m laughing and crying at the same time

  3. Nobody talking to me, canny blame ye :>)

Anybody know when the ST renewal window closes?

  4. Morning all from a slighty overcast but balmy Chilterns…

Good weekend’s football, didn’t see it all but was a great advert for the beautiful game.

Well done to Lenny and the bhoys four nil then lifting the Cup, did Lenny really give his medal away? Championees.

OT has been covered ad naus…. still well done a Dignified and fitting exit and a new Chapter in a great Football Club.

Watford, what can I say, hope they get that promotion, used to go and see them some years ago, lots of Supporters from the Town then, Wanderers pre MON were non-league.

Had some very good professionals O’Rielly, Jacket etc and a few up and comers John Barnes, Maurice Johnstone, etc, what happened to them eh?

The Sun article on Murray is an ironic parody, if that is their best attempt to rid them of this troublesome Chairman, they have real probelms.

What is he accused of? Talking to the Blue Knights, with Board room and major Shareholding changes why would the Chairmen of an organisation be in the wrong for talking to potential investors? In fact one might say he’d be remiss not to.

He was overheard talking about a Directors salary, then the Sun prints another Directors salary. Who is more in the wrong, the guy that was overheard or the publishing the information in Scotlands best selling Daily.

And of course the leaking of the Board meeting minutes, detailing the allegations of leaking against the Chairman.

Looks like some folk are pretty worried, as has already been stated it looks like a hand fisted attempt to wrestle away the control of internal investigation from Mr Murray.

Directors of a Company trying to gain control of an investigation into their conduct by NEDs – Wow.

Murray is taking the steps that the ex Chairmen of the predecessor Club, Mr Jonstone should have undertaken into the takeover between SDM and C Whyte.

The truth will out, eventually I guess.

In answer to this question you have posed, I think the answer is that all is fine and dandy with the suave Sevcovians.

By way of explanation, I will deal only in facts.

It is the close-season for Sevco. FACT

No more world-record-breaking crowds at the asbestos-ridden asbo dome this season. FACT.

But Sevco are in no rush whatsoever to have their 500 million fans start chipping in to keep cash-flow healthy over these lean weeks. FACT.

An official statement on the official Sevco website officially states that officially: “Match ticket and season ticket information for season 2013/14 will be updated in due course.”

    Crisis? What crisis?

Even Hearts have kicked off season ticket renewals, and they don’t know if it’s new season or New Cumnock.

There is something seriously amiss. Everyone is selling tickets for next season to get cash in. Sevco are not. This suggests nobody knows whose turn it is to trouser any cash that comes in this time.

Whether they’re based in Paisley; Cowdenbeath or some other toilet they’re fecked, trying to keep up their SPL pretences with the wurrrald rekord crowds slashed and everybody and their dug chewing on the carcass!!

  17. There’s no quotes attributed to that Hooper to QPR story, not even so much as “a source revealed”. Then again this is how harry redknapp tends to work.

I’m not sure redknapp is even going to be at QPR next season, he slated every one of his players in the post match interview yesterday, said that squad aren’t good enough to finish top half in the championship. What I find most bizarre is his treatment of Jose Bosingwa, a player he practically dismissed in january for failing to play from the bench. Then he gives him an extended run in the closing games, where he has consistently made terrible, match-changing errors.

I wonder if they share an agent.

  18. On Friday at Kosc Phil mentioned that some of the share income from institutional investors was in the form of promissary notes ( as well as stating the non institutional take was around £1.8m.)

Then on Twitter Corsica98 who has blogged on the misuse of charity money says that there are no institutional investors, there is money but the institutional investors is a cover.

He quotes acquaintances in the share business saying no reputable institutional investor would take the risk an investment into The Rangers represented. This makes sense and right throughout this whole escapade it has been marked with happenings that do not appear to make sense that are presented as fact only for sense to prevail.

Whatever is going on something is rotten in the state of Scottish football.

    Watford ?

    6 of yesterday’s starting 11 belong to Udinese .

2 of the unused subs also belong to Udinese..

Italian media are claiming that . Udinese ‘s Manager , Guidolin , will become the Napoli Manager . Zola will leave Watford to become Manager at Udinese..

This season’s buy for relative peanuts , develop and then flog for big bucks Udinese player looks to be Muriel. An excellent player.

Going up to re-new the bhoys ST on Friday. I’m aware of a particular seat that is unoccupied.

Is it possible to stake a claim on it prior to the closing date…?

I changed my seat a few years ago to one that was unoccupied.

I done this when I went to renew my ST.

I got it right away because I paid for my ticket in full.
