Suker, Uefa and regionalisation

935

Croatian hero of the 1990s, Davor Suker, currently Croatian Football Federation president, is campaigning for a place on the Uefa Executive Committee, one of 12 people chasing 7 places.

Sukor has been campaigning across south-eastern Europe, with a simple message: collapse the cream from the national leagues of 13 countries into one powerful 42-team regional league structure.  He has support across the region, including Turkey and the former Yugoslav countries.

Smaller countries across Europe have realised that they must regionalise or accept a future of irrelevance.  The Gazprom-funded deal between the Ukrainian and Russian regional league floundered at the onset or war but regionalisation is not going away.  We need innovative campaigners like Suker to rise to positions of authority, replace the ranks of the incompetent and talentless.

Well done to newco for rewarding those who used their media outlets to campaign relentlessly on their behalf in recent years with a seat in the directors’ box on Tuesday.  I’m sure David Leggat deserved the accolade of being the only mainstream media journo so honoured, which is quite something.  New season lamb is in stock early this year.

  5. Let me get this right. There’s a Lib Dem politician (who had to resign his position in the past due to alcohol problems) on TV slurring and stuttering his way through an hour of discussion and delivering an embarrassingly poor performance – but that’s not evidence of anything.

There’s a photograph is a “news” paper (with a long history of anti-Celtic sentiment) of the Celtic captain a couple of days before a big cup final. We don’t know when or where it was taken, but we should believe the paper’s reporting and make sure he misses said final and then sack him.

The politician has been complicit and indeed driving devastating financial hardship on ordinary people for years now – and he’s the Good Guy?

The footballer has been leading Celtic to victory and glory since his arrival – and he’s the Bad Guy?

Pub on Sunday for TV coverage – Glasgow

Looking for a pub in Glasgow which my ma and da can watch the game on Sunday. They’re staying at premier inn on Buchanan st (heading to Donegal on Monday). They know Glasgow fairly well but my ma is partially sited, so somewhere close to Buchanan St would be ideal.

    Thanks in advance

Gary Mackay-Steven is a smashing player.

Scott Brown – Front Page of the Sun

    ————————————————-

Scott Brown has disgraced his position and disgraced our club.

Surely Ronny, with his disciplined MUST banish Brown from Celtic.

We are a family club and we encourage our young fans to follow the lead of our best players.

The sight of Brown, lying drunk outside a strip club cannot be excused away.

He must be dropped (from a great height) and transfer – listed.

He must NEVER again play for Celtic – no ifs and no buts.

Alfie, you are an absolute clown of a man.You come on here slaughtering our captain, for having a night out, which we all have done ,a lot more regularly, yet you slavishly follow a Labour Party led by a man in Scotland who is being investigated for stealing money from his,and everyone elses constituents.A nose in the trough politician.

Your sense of moral outrage is a complete sham.

You are a trumpet of the highest order. Please just go away.

It is so disappointing that so many others have not decided to do likewise.

It is extremely annoying that I now find myself having to skip over so many other contributers who refer to him or quote him verbatim.

  22. the glorious balance sheet on

Scumbag tabloid rag in negative Celtic story before a big game shocker.

The rags used to always have such stories before we played the now defunct club in Govan when I was growing up in the 1990s while simultaneously writing up stories about how RFC were set for world domination…The original Ronaldo, Vialli, batistuts etc were all swooping in on Mintys private jet and hey there’s a picture of Mrs Jardel wearing hardly any clothes on page 3, fill yer boots berrz

It was Cato guntveit then and it’s Cato guntveit then.

  23. Best way to turn tables on muckraking members of the media is to stop buying or even reading the rags they write for.

Nothing like a P45 to when the bills are due to make them think about what they are doing.

  24. I hope Broony had a great night out,he works damned hard for it.Leckie gets the succulent lamb at Ipox on Tuesday,Murray praises DR for telling the truth for the last 3 years(no laughing at the back….),Jabba taking over from Jack Irvine as puppetmaster…….Some need to wake up and smell the coffee here.

  25. Turkeybhoy –

    Spot on.

When I returned from a 10 year exile in Australia last June, I was amazed the first time I took my prescription to the pharmacy. In Australia it cost me around £50 per month. I actually had my debit card in hand, only to be told to put it away as all prescriptions in Scotland are free.

I was then told that as I had reached the grand old age of 60, I was entitled to free bus travel the length and breadth of Scotland.

I have to say I was very impressed with the way the country was heading under the Scottish Government.

    Long may it continue.

Might need some help guys, wife is unwell, so may not be able to head south for tonight. Will make my mind up at lunchtime depending on how she is.

I have LFT’s ticket, but of course he is in Stirling, while I am in darkest, deepest, Turra. So my question is, if I don’t make it, and LFT turns up without a ticket, can you guys arrange to get him in please? I sent Tony a mail, but no reply as yet.

Any excuse to put the boot into Labour.

It is no considence that you both will not be directly affected by the mega austerity measures that will hit the poorest if we don’t return a labour government.

Nothing is free, we all pay. To even contemplate ditching the Barnett formula for idealistic reasons is nothing short of economic madness.

It may be a price worth paying for certain individuals, but not for the poorest.

To those of us who cannot be at CQN 11 to those of you who can : we salute you. Enjoy.
