Suker, Uefa and regionalisation

935

Croatian hero of the 1990s, Davor Suker, currently Croatian Football Federation president, is campaigning for a place on the Uefa Executive Committee, one of 12 people chasing 7 places.

Sukor has been campaigning across south-eastern Europe, with a simple message: collapse the cream from the national leagues of 13 countries into one powerful 42-team regional league structure.  He has support across the region, including Turkey and the former Yugoslav countries.

Smaller countries across Europe have realised that they must regionalise or accept a future of irrelevance.  The Gazprom-funded deal between the Ukrainian and Russian regional league floundered at the onset or war but regionalisation is not going away.  We need innovative campaigners like Suker to rise to positions of authority, replace the ranks of the incompetent and talentless.

Well done to newco for rewarding those who used their media outlets to campaign relentlessly on their behalf in recent years with a seat in the directors’ box on Tuesday.  I’m sure David Leggat deserved the accolade of being the only mainstream media journo so honoured, which is quite something.  New season lamb is in stock early this year.

  1. Paper had to apoliogise for a really negative slant on a good news story. Hundreds of Dutch fans coming to the Celtic v Aberdeen game for charity reasons.

Someone will fill the details I hope.

Just seen the picture of Scott Brown in the paper, I’ve got to say, I don’t recognise that pavement, is it the Western Bar or The Burke and Hayre…. might be that other one in the triangle, what was it called again..?

    Bermuda?????

  3. I said about ‘casting the first stone’ in Charles Kennedy’s case because there is no evidence that he was ‘under the influence’ – there are at least a couple of medical conditions that can make one appear to have been drinking.

In Scott Brown’s case, if the evidence is fabricated, I will be the first to say sorry, to him and all on here who defend him.

However, if it is all true – there can be no excuse, both as a sportsman in the week leading up to the first leg of a ‘dream treble’, or, as a man, the captain of Celtic, a role model to young fans.

How on earth could he walk out on Sunday holding the hand of a young mascot after been seen laying about on the ground, drunk and incapable, outside a strip club.

My God, if you had wanted the worst portrayal of our captain, you could not have staged it better.

The usual suspects on here are defending him, just like they defend most of the dross they post – there is no defence for this action – if Ronny picks him, he may as well throw his philosophy and discipline ‘out of the window’ – he will be laughed at the next time he tries to make a stand – can you imagine Stokes saying – ” you dropped me for being back late for training, and yet our captain can lie about drunk outside a strip club, and still get picked”

We have had great captains – big Billy, Paul McStay, King Kenny, Paul Lambert, Neil Lennon – can you imagine ANY of them doing this.

Ronny will not need to be told what to do – but if he does, I hope that Dermot Desmond and Perter Lawwell are there reminding him.

Our enemies are able to manufacture their own bullets with which to shoot at us – we don’t need to present them with this kind of disgraceful behaviour by our captain and highest-paid player at our club.

  4. Lennybhoy, no, no message last night but plenty of time only in Glasgow at midday.

Looking forward to meeting you also tonight.

  5. If Scott Brown is drunk and lying snoring on the Celtic subs bench on Sunday then and only then will I question his professionalism.

Away and fly West ya Burke…

That bhoy has been through a lot in his short life, what do you know about him and his private personal life? I know nothing of him other than he plays for Glasgow Celtic and that his sister died so young.

So he goes out and has a bevy with his mates, in the day of pocket cameras no one is safe from nosey bar stewards it’s a low shot.

March 2012 Scott Brown’s sister died of skin cancer, is this maybe a time of the year young Mr Brown has a blow out?

    I don’t know do you…?

Young Mr Brown is a fine Celtic captain he has his moments on the park when you shake your head, but we miss him when he’s not there.

I like him and many do he will in my eyes always be an established great Celtic captain along the same line as McNeil McStay etc…. when there were no pocket cameras..

After all we have read and heard about Ronny’s Regime, whereby he demands a proper diet, free from chips, crisps and fizzy drinks – are you trying to tell me that he will ‘turn a blind eye’ to his captain filling his body with toxic alcohol, in the run up to a major final.

Forget Ronny – DD & PL should make sure that this shame that Brown has brought on Celtic must be punished by sweeping him out the door.

  28. Have to say, having seen the picture of Broonie on the front page of ‘The Sun’ ( someone posted it on Facebook, btw ), I’m amazed at how some people still take everything they read in this rag as gospel.

For those who haven’t seen it, He is pictured sat on the pavement, with his back against the wall, looking a wee bit the worse for wear……he looks like he’s had a good night, to be honest. I suspect many of us have been in a similar position.

He is not lying about on a pavement in a drunken stupor as is suggested, and repeated here by some.

A boozy night out in the seedy establishments of Edinburgh, with some friends, drinking vodka, and eating junk-food. So says the ‘journalist’ .

Could be he had a couple too many drinks, was tired, and sat down while his mates finished their food. Could be he was waiting for a taxi. Could be any number of reasons.

The thing is, it’s one picture, a snapshot of a fraction of a second, out of probably dozens and dozens of photographs taken by the low-life that follow our players around looking for a story. Or worse. It’s a picture taken by someone who only wants to damage Scott Brown and Celtic, accompanied by hearsay evidence and presented as the truth. Unquestionable and verified by reliable sources. In The Sun.

When are some people going to realise that this rag will print what they want, when they want, and whether it’s true or not.

Some people really do need to take a long hard look at themselves in the mirror this morning and think about how stupid and gullible they are, to be taken in time and time again by people who’s only agenda is to visit harm on our club….

  29. Kòlncelt, texted and emailed you. Did you get them ? Looking forward to meeting up again. Also with the rest of you reprobates.

Micktt , the apology revolved around the feyenoord boys coming over for the Aberdeen game and raising funds for the invisible s, the kano foundation and a Dutch charity. After some ‘pressure’ from the VB and , allegedly , some of scotlands finest, a couple of venues bailed on them . They eventually held the event , raised lots of dosh and not one bit of trouble was had.

We were even contacted by a newspaper asking how we felt about our event being cancelled ! They were politely corrected as to the error of their ways (only because my folks dragged me up well) and we heard nothing more about it .
