Suker, Uefa and regionalisation

935

Croatian hero of the 1990s, Davor Suker, currently Croatian Football Federation president, is campaigning for a place on the Uefa Executive Committee, one of 12 people chasing 7 places.

Sukor has been campaigning across south-eastern Europe, with a simple message: collapse the cream from the national leagues of 13 countries into one powerful 42-team regional league structure.  He has support across the region, including Turkey and the former Yugoslav countries.

Smaller countries across Europe have realised that they must regionalise or accept a future of irrelevance.  The Gazprom-funded deal between the Ukrainian and Russian regional league floundered at the onset or war but regionalisation is not going away.  We need innovative campaigners like Suker to rise to positions of authority, replace the ranks of the incompetent and talentless.

Well done to newco for rewarding those who used their media outlets to campaign relentlessly on their behalf in recent years with a seat in the directors’ box on Tuesday.  I’m sure David Leggat deserved the accolade of being the only mainstream media journo so honoured, which is quite something.  New season lamb is in stock early this year.

Eddie, there was a Paul Crozier in the year above me at school from down your way in West Dunbartonshire. I wonder if its the same guy who passed sentence on the ‘ the o** f***’ fan according to the Radio Clyde web page.

I’d rather he did time working with others that might affect his thinking. Jail, job loss, relationship damage and isolation more likely to reinforce closed mind thinking. IMHO. The arrest roll has a significant and disproportionate English base. Could be related to Police concern of motivated elements and this guy based in Hertford.

Alisdair MacLean, that’s a terrible tragedy in Angola.

I hope there are no more fatalities.

May there souls rest in peace.

  4. gordybhoy64,

If this act is serious about stopping the singing of certain songs….why allow the Orange walks?

The disruption they cause and the bigotry that thrives on it year in year out is beyond belief in this day and age.HH

Tragic situation, hope there is a good resolution for the people there.

  7. sipsini,

totally agree with you on the orange walks,

would be happy to see them banned or a severe restriction

placed on the number of them,

but if jailing some of them led to a reduction in the songs then

I am perfectly fine with it

    Burnely, definitely the same chap.

A good guy overall from memory.

I watched Sportscene from Sunday tonight with my son.

Not surprised there has been no focus in the media on how nasty Ryan McGowan’s tackle, the worst shown in the highlights, it was a shocker.

He was also one of the prominent pointers in the game’s most contentious incident and when we scored.

His behaviour hasn’t changed much since his time at Tynecastle.

Why did they allow Charles Kennedy on the panel tonight? My God how far he has fallen.

Nice one, you would have thought a bit of research would have been done on Mr woods before they ran with his story!

Feel sorry for Kennedy .. Long been rumoured that he has a wee bevvy problem ..

Strain of an election wipe out won’t be helping.

  16. I had a very interesting chat with a senior executive at ASA yesterday re the Sunday Herald ad and got their judgement through too.

Those cheeky Sevcovians complained not only about the ad that appeared in the Sunday Herald on 25th January, but also about the draft that was ‘leaked’ when we first discussed this at the end of last year.

They told ASA that both ads were printed in the Sunday Herald, obviously thinking their chances were better on the earlier version.

Well I can tell CQN that BOTH ads were passed by ASA as fair, honest and accurate and all the complaints have been dismissed. I sent on the correspondence to both Paul and Auldheid and when CQN 11 is out of the way, will put something on http://www.cqnmagazine.com

ASA’s Council have looked at this and on advice taken accept that they are legally a new entity. Doncaster etc’s interpretation allows them to have an opinion that they are the same club in their wee minds but not in law.

    Likewise the Herald’s lawyers.

Auldheid has already picked up on the ASA wording and has noticed a striking similarity to with the way UEFA define a club – rather than the post summer 2012 Scottish football description of convenience.

Talking of that ad – someone has managed to get the actual printing plates from the Sunday Herald – and this has been framed and is in the auction tomorrow night. A unique wee piece of CQN/ Celtic history.

  17. It is cringeworthy watching CK on QT.

He can’t remember the question and is rambling. He’s like a Dave Allen stereotype of a drunk man. Very sad.

  18. Just checking that we did play Dundee Utd on Sunday …… according to SFA, it seems that nothing whatsoever happened.

  19. I’m cringing watching Charles Kennedy, he can’t even remember the question and speaking in a drawling manner.

Hope he can sort himself out.

Many moons ago I was at visiting a friend in Dumbarton. We went to St Patrick’s for Mass. During the Mass my mate says to me ” See that guy who is the Eucharistic minister he’s Sheriff Crozier if you are ever up in front of him pull out your rosary beads before he sentences you and you’ll get a reduced sentence.”

At the end of Mass as we were leaving this lady who was sitting behind us said “I was listening to your conversation during Mass and I thought it was extremely funny, let me introduce myself I’m Sheriff Crozier’s wife.”

Which goes to show, you shouldny be talking during Mass ;-)
