Suker, Uefa and regionalisation

935

Croatian hero of the 1990s, Davor Suker, currently Croatian Football Federation president, is campaigning for a place on the Uefa Executive Committee, one of 12 people chasing 7 places.

Sukor has been campaigning across south-eastern Europe, with a simple message: collapse the cream from the national leagues of 13 countries into one powerful 42-team regional league structure.  He has support across the region, including Turkey and the former Yugoslav countries.

Smaller countries across Europe have realised that they must regionalise or accept a future of irrelevance.  The Gazprom-funded deal between the Ukrainian and Russian regional league floundered at the onset or war but regionalisation is not going away.  We need innovative campaigners like Suker to rise to positions of authority, replace the ranks of the incompetent and talentless.

Well done to newco for rewarding those who used their media outlets to campaign relentlessly on their behalf in recent years with a seat in the directors’ box on Tuesday.  I’m sure David Leggat deserved the accolade of being the only mainstream media journo so honoured, which is quite something.  New season lamb is in stock early this year.

  1. Regarding Cifci…i would have thought it was simple…the ref didnt book him so he saw no offense…the tv showed he did kick Broonys head, but, was it intentional, the ref didnt book him, so as he was smart and did it while looking AWAY…i couldnt see any other outcome……#notintheleastoffended…

If anyone hasn’t received our invitation emails – perhaps you’ve not participated before – but fancies joining in, just drop us an email to the address below or to jobobaldie@yahoo.com

    THE RULES!

The rules are pretty simple. Once you register your interest in taking part here’s how it works.

    1. Each week we’ll issue an email with the forthcoming set of fixtures to choose from. In general this will consist of the SPFL top flight games and the matches involving the top 4 in England. But there may be the odd occasion when this changes, particularly on cup and/or international weekends.

    2. Each week you choose just one team and provided that team wins then you are still standing and through to the next week.

    3. Once you have chosen a particular team you cannot choose them again. THE ONUS ON KEEPING TRACK OF THIS LIES WITH EACH COMPETITOR as

we don’t always get a chance to check every selection made prior to the games kicking off. But if you need to double check, email us with plenty of notice we’ll try to help you out.

    4. If you pick the same team twice you’re aff oot! But see Rule 6

    5. If your team fails to win then you fall out of the competition. But see Rule 6

    6. If you fall out in weeks 1 to 3 (inclusive) you have the option of restoring your ‘fit and proper competitor’ status and paying your way back in with a further £10 donation [you can do this if you are unsuccessful in weeks 1, 2 and/or 3 and can do so more than once – this is, after all primarily about raising funds;-) ].

    7. You must send in your selection before your team’s particular game kicks off. So watch out for Saturday lunchtime or Friday evening fixtures.

    8. As a rule of thumb, the selections will be collated and monitored by me. In an effort to be transparent I will announce my own pick when issuing each week’s fixture list. Until I drop out!.

    Good luck!

    Appreciated here.

As I say, this is a football blog and where people come for a bit of crack, latest news and a laugh and not where deep thoughts should be introduced – I just felt myself and OHITS had so many good laughs here – CQN being a part of that – I don’t know, Na I still don’t know!

Jamesgang – sorry I didn’t reply the other day – was on a phone and keeping myself amused with the plight of the funny team…….

    Hoppy birthday?

Sounds like it’s my birthday. O))

  12. I have to agree with an earlier post, a custodial sentence for singing a song, even a highly offensive song, is completely OTT.

I would have thought that a fine and a decent amount of public service would have been suffice.

Loved this bit from that article trying to defend Chris Graham:

“Let’s hope the world of football doesn’t lose one of its most hardworking officials just 24 hours into his new role, simply because the BBC and other Muslim-appeasing news agencies pander to the Religion of Permanent Outrage.”

You are absolutely right. We have been calling for the BBC to stop pandering to the Religion of Permanent Outrage for ages.

    Oh wait….

WITS – i missed your tips this week as I was in Cheltenham myself. I held my own today and Tuesday and had the result from heaven on Wednesday with a £5 reverse Exacta on Zabani and and Aux Ptits Soins.

Do you follow the quirks where Phil Smith has not picked up the correct mark from the Irish handicapper? (Like Zabani)

Sadly in this day and age, it’s out of sight out mind, as most people don’t have their troubles to seek.

BT, more than most will know about the financial hardships being put on people in need.

The stealth in which some acts are being manoeuvred in, is disgusting and not getting highlighted by a most of the msm.

Hopefully there will be aid teams on there way. HH
