Before we get down to less important matters, let me know, did you buy Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas?
There are so many reasons to be cynical about football people (players, directors and fans alike) in the modern era it is scarcely worth listing them but occasionally a pillar of strength comes along and changes all the rules.
This morning’s headlines that Georgios Samaras has attracted interest from an English slumbering giant is reason enough to highlight the dedication of this model professional. Georgios arrived at Celtic on loan in January 2008 and was instrumental in the historic league win that year. When he completed his permanent transfer from Manchester City he took an enormous cut in wages because he wanted to be a Celtic player.
Thanks for the great support for the CQN Annual. You can order online here, time is running out for shipping before Christmas!
His talent and effectiveness has meandered, a bit like those looping runs he would go on with the ball, since then and for a while he was subject to considerable abuse from ‘supporters’. At one point he had the chance to leave but his message to Celtic was simple, ‘If you want me to stay, I’ll stay and fight for my place. This is my club’.
The story of the rebirth of Celtic is also the story of the rebirth of Georgios Samaras. He is the epitome of the modern footballer: strong, skilful and intelligent, he would get into any top squad in Europe.
There is no chance of him going to England, Celtic will not sell him and even if they accepted a bid, the player shows no inclination of wanting to leave. He is currently prime candidate for Player of the Year and is our most feared player in the Champions League.
You have six days to buy Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas in support of Celtic Charity and Teenage Cancer. This is what we’re all about, don’t talk to me about football until I hear from you on the subject that really matters.

Great refrerences to Big John Hughes, and falling over his own feet…..
I can remember that quite well.
I think big Georgio is one of the most improved, by far in the squad, and yes maybe like yogi with hair.
His detractors, from seasons gone by, must all feel a litlle foolish now given the only person who had any faith in him was neil…..
KTF….
Yeah normanstreet49, yeah Tall Sammy is doing well this Season so far but since
WGS brought him in on loan around January 2008 he was good for six months
scoring goals and his over all play was good then he hardly kicked a ball after that
until his contract was up for renewal around one day @ Ipox where he produced
the goods and scored twice one from the penalty spot then a year or so later @
the same venue he took a pen and put his spot kick in @ the exact same spot
which ‘We all know she said No Goal Keeper’ which was a costly miss & Cost
us the League that Season against Defunct & Cheats FC In other words that
miss came back to haunt us big time
As Ray Clemence once said about tall Sammy he can be a bit of a Jeckel &
Hyde type of player which is a fair over all assessment of said player in other
words he can turn it on when he wants too
So let’s all hope he just keeps focus and interested this Season for a change
& Wee Neil gets the best out of him because also referring to the same
Contract Renew Season a goal return of just ’2 Goals’ over the course of one
Season is a very poor return for a Hoops Forward Player, Yes? Your damn
tooting also for example look @ BBJ (Big Bad John) he would always set a
Seasonal target of 20 Goals + which he hit every Season he played with
the Hoops
Ntass…,
“The debate has been raging all night without my input.”
“Clink\o/ where on here did you see that “stat” quoted?”
so you’ve no been paying attention to the debate thats been raging all night but thought it was a good idea to jump in to something your no paying attention to, and no surprise about which side you join, seems a bit petty to select your arguments based on the characters making the points as opposed to the points.
Rascar Capac the whole team can take credit for this season’s achievements.
I had a few quid coming to me from a bet that GS would score twice from CM’s left peg in the set pieces in the Benfica game. I almost never bet. I was a tad miffed when CM was a no show after half time.
That bet does not square with the description “detractor” or “Sammi basher.”

AKBW1888 I think we’re pretty much in agreement.
Once we’ve formed an opinion on someone over a number of years it is difficult to radically alter it overnight. It’s irksome when someone demands over and over again that we do.
That’s right Ntassoolla I totally agree with what you say.
Canamalar an hour before dawn this morning you’ll get three heavenly bodies for the price of one to howl at! Saturn, Venus and Mars!
Well someone has to take over from Patrick Moore

you still haven’t told me which season
Thanks for your replies.
Clinko I have appealed to the management of this site for some search facilities to make backtracking easier.
It’s not always possible to come on and read every single detail of every post.
Neill Can I’m free to come and go as I please on here. And ignore what I do not rate.
Right.
Good night gentlemen. You know who you are.

Yeah so what’s your point NCLHE?
Your Bees Knees (He’s The Mhan) Is Not Exactly A Prolific Goal Scorer
& After All That’s What The Game Is All About Putting The Ball In The Net
Not Running Around Like A Headless Chicken With No End Product
Goals Equals Points Which Equals Prizes
100% Effort With No End Product Equals Disappointment & No Prizes

No sign of 2 goals a season in here.
Details are in a table right at the bottom of the page.
Having said that, the stats do seem to back up the theory that he is not an out-and-out striker…..
Canamalar:
Was bontyboy chameleon amigo?
My opinion on Sammi, he earns his wages. But I wish he’d swing his handbag in anger a wee bit more often.
For a while there I thought Mikael Lustig was going to get the Sammi treatment. I hope now that he has a reprieve that Nicolás Ladislao Fedor Flores, if he stays, is not subjected to the hateful taunts from the myopic amongst us.
I just watched the Real Betis v Barça game…didnae know the score…crackin’ match. Even the commentators were good….one of them said of Betis, ” They may wear green and white, but they’re no Celtic. “, and then went on to praise our achievements in Europe to the skies.
Refreshing, compared to what we have to endure from Scotland’s finest presstitutes who, at best, begrudgingly give us belated recognition after singing the praises of a gang of 4th. Div. bigots.
akbw1888,
The bitterness is just sad, said before if you can’t spot a player then that’s your problem.
Now who asked for the goals total me ? No, wait, it was you, all I did was make the info available.
I like to think there’s a wee bit more to the game than that, it’s what the result is all about granted and I’ll remind you, it’s you who is havering on about him being a prolific goal scorer no me, I’ve never made that claim, have I ?
What are you talking about 2010/2011
He scored seven goals what have you been smoking
you must have linked up with TET Spanish Friend
Your having a Turkish Bath (Laugh)
2008/2009 Was WGS last Season
2009/2010 Was mainly Moggie’s Season which ended up Barn.
2010/2011 Was NL First full Season when on January 2011
Sammy scored his total Season’s goal tally @ Planet Numb Skulls & Zombies
later that Season he missed a crucial penalty @ the same venue

Did the keeper not save it?
Child labour sneaking back under the guise of ‘education’. Michael Gove, the chinless wonder, dead ringer for Himmler (similar looks, similar speech patterns, similar brain), is behind this.

Not how much effort and passes it’s putting the ball in
the Onion Bag end of story
You don’t see in the history books but said team made
‘x’ amount of passes and ‘x’ amount of corners and
‘x’ amount of free kicks no it’s the results that count
@ the end of the day just go and ask Alex Ferguson

I wish it had only been from 89,he might not have stolen Brian McClair from us in 87!
He took over in Nov 86.
What’s that got to do with Sammi ?
It’s you who keeps insisting he’s a centre forward, no one else in this discussion has claimed that but you.
Now have you looked at his stats on that link I posted ?
Did you notice the goals to starts ratio, 81 started 34 goals, no bad for a midfielder IMO
