Superior fitness and mental fortitude will deliver for Celtic

1174

Having pummelled Newco repeatedly this season there is a notion that we’re going to do it again on Sunday. I’d be tempted to hold that result. St Mirren, an inferior team, demonstrated for 57 minutes how far blanket defending and a bit of organisation can take you. If Celtic record an impressive result at the weekend, they will have to be at the peak of their powers.

We can expect Newco will have watched replays of the opening 20 minutes of our Hogmanay tie dozens of times recently. They will do their best to capture what worked for them during that period, and attempt to replicate it on Sunday.

We started slowly that day, which is not entirely out of character, but one or two also looked spooked by the occasion. Newco started on the front foot, again, something they repeatedly do, but just as they have done throughout the season, they soon ran out of steam.

There is not a great deal they will be able to do about Moussa Dembele, short of cutting off supply to him. As a consequence, they will stick tight to Scott Sinclair, who will have work to do to even get involved in the game, never mind hurt the opposition. This is no bad thing, as while Scott is our most productive player, the team will be full of players hungry and capable of hurting the Newco defence.

This is a game which could be in the balance with 15 minutes remaining, but which Celtic could score three times in the closing period. They have the superior fitness and mental fortitude.

Our greatest danger will be from officialdom. Conceding a penalty, a red card, or both, opens the only door possible for Newco to take anything from the game. Keep cool heads as we’ll do just fine.

The Old Firm derby a family fued for Rangers coach Graeme Murty

Graeme Murty has never experienced an Old Firm game at Celtic Park, but the Ibrox under-20s coach knows what it feels like to have the massed ranks of the Hoops support on his case.

“All of my father’s family are Celtic fans and they reiterated that to me earlier this year when I met up with them and I got four hours of absolute dog’s abuse,” said Murty,

That’s his QC being quoted, addressing 3 appeal court judges.

What isn’t accurate in his reply to the question he was asked by one of them?

    No sympathy.

Hope we destroy him and his team today.

My sister has been in court with Heidi Poom, my sister has no interest in Celtic (that’s an anomaly I have to live with :-) the three appointed people for the “big tax” case was a total joke, the aforementioned accountant was totally against the cheats, the other two said there was enough proof……..lying tramps

I sort of quite like they cheated and are still cheating, it makes me smile more every day, I sort of wish my dad witnessed it, npbut henalways said…..son they are “cheating orange bassas”

  6. was in a box at ibrox when all

Celtic fans were banned, score 1-1 , guy in our executive box was wearing a great jacket he was told by security not to come out for second half for his safety.

  9. Looking forward to tomorrow and hoping rather than taking for granted that we can win in style. I think we have a superior group of players and if they play to form we should win.

Paid a wee visit to Rangers Meeja to find out the thoughts of ra peepil. Barrie McKay and his family are Celtic supporting Tims. I also read this a few years ago when they were on the first leg of The Journey. Michael O’Halloran’s pace is getting a few of them excited too. They seem to think that these two Tims could cause our defence some problems. However, many of them think that they are likely to be on the receiving end of a doing. I can only hope that they are correct.

Like the witty wags that they are, they have found a new heroine in songstress Tiffany and plan to pay devotion to her by belting out her hit song I Think We’re Alone Now as a wind up to us Timmies. The reason? Have a look at the lyrics which they seem to think supports their sick agenda.

Children behave, that’s what they say when we’re together

    And watch how you play

    They don’t understand

    And so we’re

Running just as fast as we can, holding on to one another hands

Trying to get away into the night and then you put your arms around me

And we tumble to the ground and then you say

    I think we’re alone now,

There doesn’t seem to be anyone around

    I think we’re alone now,

The beating of our hearts is the only sound

Look at the way we gotta hide what we’re doin’

    ‘Cause what would they say

    If they ever knew

    And so we’re

Running just as fast as we can, holding on to one another hands

Trying to get away into the night and then you put your arms around me

And we tumble to the ground and then you say

    I think we’re alone now,

    There doesn’t…

Let’s hope we score early and score often.

  10. Delaneys,

  14. DALLAS DALLAS WHERE THE HECK IS DALLAS on 11TH MARCH 2017 11:35 PM

Tony, the 4 2 game at Ibrox was my favourite game there.

The walk on as our players appeared for the second half , was phenomenal.

    ………………………

One of my favourite games there too. I was on the Govan Stand along with a good few thousand other Tims. The Celtic team came out early for the second half, 2-0 down. As the fans belted out YNWA, Tommy Burns went around the whole team punching his fist into the palm of his other hand and making sure every single player was pumped up and ready to go. We ran over the top of them. Although we didn’t win the League, the Celtic support knew the team had given everything and were still singing inside Ibrox half an hour after the game. Beautiful sunny day.

    Got you now…..

Charlie Green is a crook, plausibility and Charles aren’t words I would use in the same sentence, Charles & Craig Whyte have made a living out of “distressed” companies, usually not as high profile as the Ranjurs…… In my opinion Charles Green isn’t very trustworthy and should probably be spending a few months / years at wee Lizzies expense, hoe I have answered your question, if you want tomtake it off line I could fill you in about TOGC and other directorships Charles & Craig have encountered

  20. GFTB

  22. Up like a bird on

I’ve not been at 1 single game this year through, and its as though a have been took the complete cunt out off, ( i am not even going to excuse my language) , as its as strong as i feel about the whole situation has been glossed over by the board and the whole Brendan feel good factor. The huns being in the main arena makes no odds to the fair thinking supporter. I was theyr through the Ronnie puuuurr

Celtic better get trophies awarded to them from the seasons that they shite players who got paid way more than they should have from the HUNS and their cheating side contract seasons ? Wee tax case, if not well then its nothing but a side show to Scotlands shame….it’s simple panderism

Why should they escape from it ? Player INELIGIBILITY same as SION ,LEGIA WARSAW ,RANGERS .there is a penalty rule ….This season will be a definer, I Await the outcome. I am not a an abuse victim even though i have been treated like one, I know Celtic understand the situation, THERE IS ONLY ONE OUTCOME TITLE STRIPPING . cheating recognised if you dont stand up for this you are lying and cheating yourself and your children’s future. Celtic will eventually come out and say it has happened for the greater good, but they are just lying to their self’s to protect the old firm image… make a self centred honest decision..and stick by it…Celtic have got you by your weakness , ask God too forgive you for being gullible and stupid .because at the end of the day thats all you are, a Consumer , a weak guillable faithful Celtic supporting loving consumer ,, through and through..
