Superior fitness and mental fortitude will deliver for Celtic

1174

Having pummelled Newco repeatedly this season there is a notion that we’re going to do it again on Sunday. I’d be tempted to hold that result. St Mirren, an inferior team, demonstrated for 57 minutes how far blanket defending and a bit of organisation can take you. If Celtic record an impressive result at the weekend, they will have to be at the peak of their powers.

We can expect Newco will have watched replays of the opening 20 minutes of our Hogmanay tie dozens of times recently. They will do their best to capture what worked for them during that period, and attempt to replicate it on Sunday.

We started slowly that day, which is not entirely out of character, but one or two also looked spooked by the occasion. Newco started on the front foot, again, something they repeatedly do, but just as they have done throughout the season, they soon ran out of steam.

There is not a great deal they will be able to do about Moussa Dembele, short of cutting off supply to him. As a consequence, they will stick tight to Scott Sinclair, who will have work to do to even get involved in the game, never mind hurt the opposition. This is no bad thing, as while Scott is our most productive player, the team will be full of players hungry and capable of hurting the Newco defence.

This is a game which could be in the balance with 15 minutes remaining, but which Celtic could score three times in the closing period. They have the superior fitness and mental fortitude.

Our greatest danger will be from officialdom. Conceding a penalty, a red card, or both, opens the only door possible for Newco to take anything from the game. Keep cool heads as we’ll do just fine.

Big Jock once said, “only a fool would predict the score in an OF game. He was right. I have seen too many OF games to remember. But, but, this is not an OF game. This is Celtic playing a 5yr old club. I don’t think we are comfortable being top dogs but it is what it is. If Celtic were playing Aberdeen, St Johnstone, Dundee or anybody else, nobody would be predicting a high scoring game. I’ll put my cards on the table right now. I would take 1-0 now. Here’s the thing, it’s a Glasgow derby. Against a team called The rangers. They’re supported by the same sectarian scumbags that supported rangers. The build up feels like it did before they died and that is why they should be afraid, be very afraid. If these Celtic players are up for this game, like it was an OF game, then there is definitely the potential for giving them a right tanking. COYBIG

    Anyhooooos…

Some of you will be lucky enough to be in attendance tomorrow at Paradise. Maybe you need to be only an occasional visitor,an accident of geography and timing,to realise how lucky you are.

God knows,I took it for granted long enough. Aye,every game mattered. But it’s only when you canny get there that you realise what it means when you do.

The heightened senses as you inch ever nearer to Paradise. The “Awe,ffs,I can see it now!” moment when you just get a hyoooooooj buzz.

I won’t be in Celtic Park tomorrow. I’ll be 400 miles away. My Dad and my two sisters will be there. A lot of really good friends wil be there. And some 50,000 other guid Celtic men and women too.

And I’ll be jealous of each of them.

Here’s a wee choon whose title sums up Celtic Park for me.

And the voice answers “But what if they are better than we think?”

And the logical side laughing answers “Have you seen them?”

“Aye but what about the referee?”

“Even the refs have been unable to make them look competent.”

And without missing a beat continues

Maybe people look at a football club as being an alternative to a real Human relationship, they put their all into it, they get tattoos on them as a sign of love and commitment, a distraction,..the clubs realise this btw..what does sicken me really is when i go to the local grave yard and see a Celtic crest on the grave stone and know these poor people have died and they have went to the grave giving their all. more than likely would have gave their life’s or would have went down fighting for their cause. and for their club. It’s so sad society has got to this stage.

CELTIC HAVE been systematically cheated. We all know that by law it has happened and been brushed over it cant be disputed. The people in charge of our club who think that our best interest is to get as much money as we possibly can for which ever player we might/can acquire next and we might think we are as good as the Billy big shots from England shire and we might one day get a shot at them, then we will see them as our fake GODS …..Delusional wee souls..it will not happen. Celtic is as far as i am concerned Helping the Hun out to be a challenger to try and get this shit league into some kind of position that it can compete again (where we can maybe get 2 teams into champions league) by hook or crook .we are all living a lie, delusional unrealistic sad individuals,.The scenario in which has happened to the Scottish football in my eyes is a sad state of affairs. I believe nearly every one of the fans out their has got no self respect and would take back a cheating wife if they offered them the lie that they swear it was an accident and it wouldn’t happen again and they put on a fake tear, bought them a new BMW (brendan) same as the Hun SFA situation buy into any old bullshit as it will make you feel better..

i am out,.i once was caught in the football hatred , but i respect myself, my life my family past/ present

You know, mibbe I’d just settled wi acceptance. Not quite chuffed that the huns had somehow survived, railing against it,trying to figure out how truth and justice could nonetheless prevail.

    But,still,acceptance.

I needed to read your post. It reminded me that one thing we don’t do is acceptance.

They were always going to survive, no matter what, go through my archives to 2009 i said they were to big to dissapear /die

I am not fooled that Celtic has not known about all these scenarios from day one, five way agreement, it’s everything else that has came along with it. the years before hand FLO, DeBoer the rest, they are getting away with it Scot free and the Honest Mistake years mate, have some self respect ..seriousy

I too believe this. The fact that we are playing Glasgow Rangers tomorrow(make no bones about it thats who they are) sickens me no end. Up to our knees in fenian blood? whats to get excited about?I too hope the club do the right thing this year but they wont and I will transcend all the 5 phases of 1. Denial and isolation; 2. Anger; 3. Bargaining; 4. Depression; 5. Acceptance. of what the PLC have done or lack thereof and move on. Total hun loving BS. This year I will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Lisbon Lions but know deep in my heart football is finished as a sport.

If video assistance was used to help referees making red card, penalty and contentious offside decisions. Barcelona would be out of the CL.
