Sweeten the medicine, Celtic

991

There is an unusually sombre tempo head of tomorrow’s Champions League last 16 tie, a consequences of the 0-3 reversal at home three weeks ago and the general sentiment around Scottish football this week, but this match is an excellent test for both manager and playing squad.

We are a Champions League team again with aspirations to achieve at this level next season.  Having finally overcome the hoodoo of never having won away from home in the competition, we must use occasions like tomorrow to continue our growth in the competition.

We defended our 18-yard line in the Camp Nou and almost got away with a point.  The plan was wrong in Lisbon, where a talented Benfica controlled midfield and recorded a narrow win, but the win against Spartak in Moscow was deserved.

Celtic might not be able to qualify for the quarter finals but they can win the match tomorrow; this is an achievable objective which would sweeten the inevitable medicine.

  1. I have been sitting watching Dortmund playing Shaktar and realise that I am not getting excited about it although both teams are playing good football. Thank you, SFA. Knowing that you are prepared to openly cheat to benefit the Establishment club has destroyed something in me. I do hope I still get the old nerves tomorrow night.

I’m off to watch the Louvre on BBC4. Haven’t been there since 1968, when the Sorbonne was in turmoil.

Advantage RM now after screamer from Modric. Games like this should not be unbalanced by daft decisions from referees or those who want to make a name for themselves….

    2-1 Madrid….Ronaldo. Game over!

No sympathy for Manc supporters though!

  6. Ref has given this game to real madrid.

Man Utd shouldn’t be struggling this much at home though, even a man down.

  7. 67Heaven ... I am Neil Lennon..!!.. Ibrox belongs to the creditors on

Why is Mohrinio not celebrating the so very important goal …? …..is he heading for ManU next season ?

  8. Would prefer not to get Madrid until the final.

67Heaven – a free spending Arsenal would be a major attraction for the top managers. Wenger must be finished by now?!

  10. I feel sorry for Man U I must admit. Game turned on its head by a terrible decision by the ref. Never like that in games like this.

I thought the red card wasn’t unreasonable. The initial contact was accidental but Nani straightens his leg, pushing off his oponent studs to ribs. Only saw that bit of the game waiting for Elementary to start. Vinnie Jones playing Moriarty? Unbelievable.
