Picking up maximum points this early in the season when you are joint top of the table alongside St Mirren does not always induce angst. Immediately after a chastening defeat, things are different. Celtic slid from control to crisis within 90 minutes last weekend and must collect full points tomorrow to steady our communal nerves.
On paper, you and I should be able to play central defence for Celtic and still collect three points against St Johnstone. The Perth side lost 0-2 at Hearts on the opening game of the season before going down by the same margin at Ross County two weeks ago. Their most encouraging aspect of August, so far, was that due to not making it out of their League Cup group, they had two weeks to prepare for the trip to Celtic Park.
Defeats to Stenhousemuir, Ayr and a 0-4 home loss to Stirling Albion were only offset by a win over Alloa. Rookie manager, Steven MacLean, travels to Glasgow tomorrow with nothing to lose.
News that we will be without Maik Nawrocki and Cameron Carter-Vickers for two months has inevitably impacted Brendan Rodgers plans for the final week of the transfer window. I am sceptical that we can move the dial greatly in the short period of time we have before going to Ibrox, but enduring half a Champions League campaign without our two first choice central defenders is arresting.
Almost as important as the result, will be another 90 minutes on the pitch for a team that looked like a collection of strangers for parts of recent games against Kilmarnock and Aberdeen.

You’ve kinda taken that a bit far haven’t you ?
To be clear:
1. Not a very good player
2. Could do without the circus. Come in agent Souttar every time he makes a mistake.
3. Not a very good player.
Big field of available talent, surely better value elsewhere.
Didn’t expect a flood of virtue signalling but hey ho. Each to their own.

That is great you got sorted. Well done Almore.
I still have a spare if anyone needs one then. As I said no money needed but a wee donation to the foundation is a good energy exchange of course.

Opinions, just opinions. He was excellent in the World Cup as was Mooy.
No idea what virtue signalling is either…
Tierney’s off to Real Sociedad according to the beeb
Just a wee reflection…
Statues in still-game Glasgow 2
Just along the road from the ridiculous statue of Walter Scott in George Square there is the famous equestrian statue with a traffic cone on the head of the rider. The figure on top is Arthur Wellesley, born in Dublin and the first Duke of Wellington. He was British Prime Minister and carried the Catholic Emancipation Act in Parliament. I think that fella should be allowed to hold his head highly in public. As for that wee mini hun toady Walter Scott, a season ticket to watch Livingston.

We both want the best for the hoops.
Abada apparently out now too.
This party is going well. Some of this rabble are meeting us to watch the Celtic tomorrow. Some are already hors de combat. Yankee lightweights.

*as for that wee mini hun toady Sir Walter Scott, aye he was a breest barer as was Daniel O’Connell hailed in his time as The Liberator and the acknowledged political leader of Ireland’s Roman Catholic majority in the first half of the 19th century, his mobilization of Catholic Ireland, down to the poorest class of tenant farmers which secured the final installment of Catholic Emancipation in 1829 .
Sir Walter also wrote the lyrics to IMHO one of the greatest hymns of all time Ave Maria.
I’d rather have a box to box pace and power midfielder than a defensive mid……think we are desperately short of pace in the middle of the park
Vinnie
We need both, a def mid will allow CalMac to move up and he may well be that box to box mid, maybes not but we def need a def mid, the last one we had was Big Vic.
I said the other day, one won’t win us the CL but it will sure help us not get skelped every game.
“It’s difficult to be optimistic”
Not for me.
I haven’t fled a war or privation zone, handed most of my money to a people smuggler, and risked my life getting into an overcrowded boat to cross hazardous seas.
I don’t live in Yemen, Palestine or Ukraine.
The area around my house is not on fire.
My family are healthy.
I can afford to heat my home AND eat.
My team are enjoying unprecedented domestic success.
I have a 7-11 store 250 metres from my house so never run out of bread and/or milk.
I suppose the telly isn’t great, Tories are in power, UK continues to blithely self harm post-Brexit, and I share a city with the most odious sporting institution on the planet …
But still smiling.
Hail hail.
Keep The Faith

Anyone else think that BRRB is just pretending to be in New York, New York à la American kiddy-on moon landing. My money is on him rolling out of Paddy Neeson’s – sorry, Ryan’s, any time now.
Scaniel
I’m in Blaggards Bar on W38th Street. $9 a pint, no wonder I drink. 😏
BRRB – Nice that they’ve called tha bar after you😂
I’m off to Rudy’s. First dive bar I was in about 1977. Decor and seats the same but cheap pints and free hot dogs. And an interesting clientele.
Scaniel
That’s enough impertinence from you M. Harrumph! 😉
BIGRAILROADBLUES on 25TH AUGUST 2023 10:13 PM
Sounds like the same Rudy’s Steely Dan made famous
Starfelt at centre of Celta Vigo defence against Real Madrid tonight. 1-0 Real, Bellingham again.
Team for tomorrow;
We got embdy fit to play? 😳
Starfelt has done well. Showing his pace and no nonsense defending.
CELTIC40ME
Probably Black Cow from Aja album. I think. 🤔
BRRB don’t lose that number, it’s the only one you got. 🤣🤣
Around 11 still need to do their Superbru predictions before 12.30 tomorrow
