Picking up maximum points this early in the season when you are joint top of the table alongside St Mirren does not always induce angst. Immediately after a chastening defeat, things are different. Celtic slid from control to crisis within 90 minutes last weekend and must collect full points tomorrow to steady our communal nerves.
On paper, you and I should be able to play central defence for Celtic and still collect three points against St Johnstone. The Perth side lost 0-2 at Hearts on the opening game of the season before going down by the same margin at Ross County two weeks ago. Their most encouraging aspect of August, so far, was that due to not making it out of their League Cup group, they had two weeks to prepare for the trip to Celtic Park.
Defeats to Stenhousemuir, Ayr and a 0-4 home loss to Stirling Albion were only offset by a win over Alloa. Rookie manager, Steven MacLean, travels to Glasgow tomorrow with nothing to lose.
News that we will be without Maik Nawrocki and Cameron Carter-Vickers for two months has inevitably impacted Brendan Rodgers plans for the final week of the transfer window. I am sceptical that we can move the dial greatly in the short period of time we have before going to Ibrox, but enduring half a Champions League campaign without our two first choice central defenders is arresting.
Almost as important as the result, will be another 90 minutes on the pitch for a team that looked like a collection of strangers for parts of recent games against Kilmarnock and Aberdeen.

You saucy rascal…..😆
:)
Record linking us to Lyanco from Southampton.
Apparently a Brazilian defender who played 30 times last season.
Never heard of him myself.
BFTB- Lyanco sounds like it should be the Huns trading name….😁
BRRB- if you’re down Ground Zero, great wee bar next to Liberty Street Fire Station, about $4-5 bucks a pint
Lyanco among the names put to the Hoops boss with Saints keen to offload the Brazilian. The 26-year-old played 30 times for the St Mary’s side last term but has fallen further down the pecking order with Mason Holgate on the way from Everton. Lyanco looked set for a move to Besiktas earlier in the window but the move collapsed, while clubs in England and the Middle East have also been alerted to his availability.
Bada
Cheers. The boozehound is on the case.
Normally I am an any win will do kinda person. Tomorrow I hope we win in style and with a few goals to spare.
It would be good to ensure our goal difference gets a boost. Ideally a clean sheet as well for the new partnership.

I remember the TV Show ” 77 SUNSET STRIP” as a young Bhoy in the 1960’s.
In 1959 the show became very popular and the ” STAR” was ED BYRNES who played the ” HEART THROB”…. Teen ” KOOKIE”.
In 1959, ED BYRNE teamed up with the lovely CONNIE STEVENS for a Duet….called…” KOKKIE, KOOKIE…LEND ME YOUR COMB”. This truly awful Song got to number 5 in the US Charts.
If I remember correctly…KOOKIE was always combing his hair in the show. the Teenage girls loved the character.
The THEME Song from 77 SUNSET STRIP was very CATCHY…Im singing it right now AND CLICKING my fingers…

William Hill have Celtic at 4/11 to win the Title and Sevco at 2/1.
Based on the general state of doom being reported in the MSSM and echoed on here by some, surely there has been a mistake by the Bookies?
PS 40/1 St J today. MAYBE we are in not as bad a state as is being widely reported ( and echoed ) ?
HS
Prices are reviewed regularly depending on form and performance, Celtic at the moment are blighted by injuries to important experienced players, players have been sold, the biggest disruptor has been Postecoglu leaving whether or not the board knew it was going to happen, he has gone and with him his game plan, changing to what Rodgers wants is taking time and hopefully will settle down soon , it has to.
St Johnstone cannot be taken lightly nor can it be approached with anything but total commitment,it would be good to see a few goals being scored and the emergence of a game plan from Celtic.

Horrific news AT, we lost 5 kids one night on the devils road way back.
You can get your head round an Elderly person going to see the Big Man.
When something like that happens, it is shocking and a real jolt, especially if it is a road you know.
Anyway a bit better news. Best of Luck Carl…..

New Heroes incoming.
Sutton I think raised a good point on us selling starfelt. Why not hold off selling him to later in the window to allow us to ease CCV back in over 3 to 4 weeks more ?
It’s done now but let’s hope some lessons have been taken on board re the reintroduction of injured players.

Celtic, Celtic thats the team for me,
Celtic, Celtic on to victory,
They’re the finest team in Scotland, I’m sure you will agree,
We’ll never give up till we’ve won the cup and the Scottish football league
They come from bonnie Scotland, they come from county Cork,
They come from dear old Donegal and even from New York,
From every street in Glasgow they proudly make their way,
To a place called dear old paradise and this is what they say.

There’s Clark, McNeill and Kennedy the best there’s ever been,

Worth a punt?
Starfelt wanted to leave to be near his lady – Celta Vigo was close enough for him – if we’d hung on to him that opportunity might have gone. We’ve also signed 2 centre backs since he left – unfortunately injuries have put the original decision in question but hindsight is a great thing.

While we’ve indisputably dominated our domestic game for 25 odd years, the caveat is, this is what you would expect.
So Bayern will dominate German football not because they’re a fantastic well run club, but because the difference in finances between them and their rivals has never been so big.
Continued domestic success is not necessarily evidence of a well run club. More so evidence of how the finances of football have changed.
====================================
Can you explain your caveat AD in paragraph1?
And why would we come to expect it?
