I was a bit annoyed at BT’s halftime analysis which suggested Celtic were more than fortunate to be level at that stage. Salzburg had just enjoyed their best 15 minute period of the game, but, from beginning to end, Celtic’s performance was a textbook lesson on how to play away from home in Europe. We took our chances and drew our defensive line well in front of our box. This is how it’s done.
Were you as comfortable as I was during the final minutes last night?
Having watched the performance against Aberdeen on Saturday, when we bossed the game but were penned back when, with two debutants and a returning Scott Brown in the team, the legs faded in the last 30 minutes, I expected the same to happen last night.
Instead, Scott’s goal arrived on 60 minutes, which infused Celtic legs with adrenalin. This was the crucial moment of the game. We conceded that fabulous goal from Soriano during the final 30 minutes, but this was also our best period of the game. Wakaso (who is a player, b.t.w.) ran himself into the ground – literally. Brown, Johansen, Izaguirre and Ambrose all covered enormous areas of the pitch.
Instead of going through turmoil in the closing stages, we saw Salzburg drop deep, acknowledging the clear danger they could concede for a third time.
The one obvious question is, how did we pick Craig Gordon up for free?
Brand Britain
Brand Britain is damaged. Last night’s vote was a high water mark for independence, so far, but the demographic breakdown suggests support for change is strongest among the young. If the three major UK parties have any intention of maintaining the status quo they need to indulge in considerable Nation Building.
The football business in Britain is in the hands of two closed-shop cartels, one in England and Wales [controlled by the affluent], and one in Scotland [controlled by the unambitious]. This arrangement has disenfranchised Scottish football and drains our economy of tens of millions of pounds per year. It is a clear manifestation of second class status for Scotland and our economy, which is unacceptable for anyone who considers the UK to be one nation.
Politicians with an interest in pushing the buttons of the people, should use this time to call this arrangement out for what it is.

Certainly not, I joined Sinn Fein as a 16 yr old, over 50 years ago and have campaigned since for a fairer society, However I’m still glad that I’m campaigning against Irish pr**ks rather than British pr**ks.
An tear man
Do you hope to see Ireland reunited?
Then if you do you surely must realise that a country can and should included different views on identity !
I have no problem being Scottish or British
Narrow minded nationalism didn’t do too well in Ireland for 50 years did it?
I was brought up to believe more in the ideas of Connolly rather than De Valera
Class over nation every time
Sad that many on here would want to retreat in to themselves rather than look out wards and embrace their fellow ordinary peoples in the rest of the UK!
Isn’t that mere selfishness?

I see.
So would you say the Irish and less compassionate than the Scots or are maybe less committed to social justice?
I mean there must be a reason why you expect an independent Scotland to achieve something an independent Ireland still hasn’t achieved.

Are you sure?
Daniella was led astray by the London Badboy, himself, or just had a terribly weak nose structure.
Daniella was such a fine Girl as well, well until that Harvey (not the Harvie from way above) bloke said its alright.
Well Ernie, Ireland has been bedevilled by Civil War Politics. 2 right wing parties Fianna Fail and Fine Gael grew out of the warring factions, and one or other of these have been the dominant Government Party since the inception of the State. The last Election and the massive strides made by both Sinn Fein and left wing Dublin based parties has given rise to hopes that normal right, left and centrist type politics might emerge.

The Honest Cover Up
If a party does not have “social justice” , what they mean by it and how they aim to go about achieving it in their election manifesto they should be spurned.
The degree to which they are will tell us whether the UK as a nation actually has a social conscience.
I think it has, but with different ideas how to go about it.
I would love to hear their proposals for delivering it.
That is a consequence of the Referendum that was always an unspecified means to an unspecified end but has raised the awareness of the end that it was said Indy would deliver.
I’m not saying it would not, but the risks of failing were the cause of charges of scaremongering that prevent reasoned examination lest that undermine the Indy case.
We now have to find another way to achieve the ultimate goal which is not independence, but a stable, fair and civil society.

Regarding the Tonev complaint, whether he’s guilty or not (he surely must be if Barry Ferguson implies so), isn’t it wonderful that Scotland is such a bastion of morality and clamps down on any kind of discrimination.
