I don’t know what the commercial value of our summer games against Barcelona, Leicester City and Inter Milan are, but those three games are sure to dwarf the earnings we make from domestic media and prize money for the whole of next season.
TV rights for English Premier League football from next season will average just above £7m per game, that’s for each of the 10 games on the weekly card – Sweet Georgia Brown! The actual value of these varies enormously: Watford v Bournemouth has practically no commercial value, all the real value is added by games between big clubs – even the likes of Newcastle, who are a poor team, but one which many colours of football fans still want to watch.
In a different environment, TV rights for Celtic games would be north of that £7m per game figure (the increased exposure would also geometrically improve commercial rights values). Think what we could do with that kind of money…….. more paper towels in the gents, maybe, the possibilities are limitless!
Our position is far from unique, there are a dozen or so European teams of similar size who have been marginalised from what was once a meritocratic game, so change must (always) remain on our agenda. But for now, we have to make what we can from our role as the Celtic Globetrotters.

My experience of Australia left me thinking of it as being a melting pot of migrant peoples and a big player in the Southern Hemisphere. And a nation whose links with the motherland were naturally melting away. So the notion of preferential trading links based on an imperial past will surely similarly fade?
I saw the same in the Caribbean where they look to Canada and the US, not the uk.

Morning Bhoys so the tribute act are just storing up the debt and while this is funny for us Celtic fans it is really stirring up trouble for Scottish football they will come up to the SPL with all there baggage. There will be no end to there posturing and manipulation and Warburton will continue his angry tirades against everything and everyone it is not in my opinion going to be constructive for football. I hope that there will be increasing ties between the English speaking peoples , no matter their country of origin.
They were the ones united in the last great global catastrophe.
The current global destablisation is undoubtedly different in many ways ,but may be the trigger for realigning these countries .
Incidentally,N.Z. is currently voting to perhaps change their flag ,removing the Union Jack of their colonial past.

Sorry, missed your post yesterday about the interview panel, and can’t add much to it other than agree. Those people firmly and loyally cling to the old world order.
For a group of people with the label Protestants and whose original reformers had every right to question the Catholic Church with its nepotism etc, they have turned volte face.
Indeed, many in Ireland would cite the education access provided to Catholics through legislation in the late 1940s as the pre-cursor for the resistance in the north of Ireland in the late 60s. Those educated Catholics were at University at this time and had watched events unfold in Paris and Prague and the injustice suffered by their own people.
NB: Keep up the good fight with Res12.
