When this publishes, I should be a few kilometres into the Great Scottish Run. These events can be humbling. You see people there with messages on their shirts. ‘The big C’ gets a lot of mentions, in many of its forms, as does heart disease and conditions most of us will, fortunately, be less familiar with. Some simply have a loved one’s smiling photograph on their back. Their former feeling of helplessness matured into purposeful action.
I’m running for Celtic Charity’s 1254125 campaign. This is not something controlled or even organised by the club, but it is fundamental to what Celtic Football Club is. The Celtic Movement was called together in a church hall in November 1887 to alleviate the distress of poverty in those unable to feed themselves. It is different from other clubs because it started differently and has since walked unfamiliar roads.
The spirit to help others has been increasingly self-evident in recent years but I am sure the commitment has become more embedded as a result of 1254125. It is now part of our routine, what we know to expect from ourselves.
We will only stay different if you and I continue to insist we walk (or run) unfamiliar roads. We all worry about where our club is going. There is little we can do about many potential dangers but we can make sure Celtic remains anchored to the spirit which founded it. You can support 1254125 through the MyDonate page I setup to convince me I shouldn’t give up halfway through this run. Your support is appreciated.
Yesterday we lost Cllr George Ryan, or St John Doyle, as he was known on these pages. George touched the lives of hundreds of people but unless you were in direct contact, you would not know what he did for the people of Glasgow, for Celtic supporters in difficulty, or even for the Thai Tims. He was an exceptional Celtic man who lived the way exceptional Celtic people have ever since that meeting in St Mary’s Hall.

Just text lennybhoy who will put the request to Georges family.
If they are ok with it I have requested a photo of their choice and will look for you guys to agree the words we use.
The finances are negligible .. if anyone wishes to I would suggest a donation to a charity that George would approve of … maybe an east end cause
God rest his soul
TBJ, bournesouprecipe,
Lasley is a friend of BBC. Regular appearances on Sportscene.
There will be no difficult questions posed and no action will be taken.
And there is a wider issue for the Celtic support and the game in general: Brown’s challenge or Lasley’s – which is more subversive and / or dangerous ?
Have yet to see Scott Brown attempt to damage another player.

Great to hear you are both well. Family flew back to Helsinki after a brilliant week with my 5yr old granddaughter. You should see her in her Celtic Onesie. She loves it. To hear a 5yr old speaking finnish and english fluently is really impressive. Good luck.

What are Celtic doing about our players being assaulted on a weekly basis and why are different rules applied to our players when celebrating goals . Just two of the things that really get on my nerves .
Tommy Joad
Agreed about “pre meditated violence”.
I remember Bougherra’s 8 fouls, on Robbie Keane after he was already booked for his fist one, but recieved no second yellow
He was caught on TV winking over to the Rangers bench after doing like his 6th foul on Keane after being booked, so was obviously playing according to instructions.
Weir might have been in on the act in that game too, he was another PROTECTED thug.

Me too.

The recklessness of Lasley’s ‘tackle’ was nearly matched by Brines bias.
All brines total lack of concern for a player clearly in distress.
Whenever he refs us its quite clear he would rather be at home poohing glass than do the job properly he is paid well to do.
Horrible individual

Maybe someone can post the link
Apart from the video of the boogymans criminal assaults listen to how many times provan mentions it
If that hateful tribute act ever do get the opportunity to play at Celtic Park for the first time, then I hope the board do the sensible thing – Ban the knuckle draggers who follow them from the stadium.
A zombie infestation of the magnificent arena cannot be allowed to happen.

Not at all, it was a good response on arguably the most important issue of them all, even in it’s dormant state.
Some Celtic fans want answers to a question that hasn’t yet been asked?
Some Celtic fans think they know the answer already, using logic and ‘the silence’ to come to a conclusion about the future.
Come the time depending on how Celtic react, or even just punctuate in some way the seemingly inevitable, all I’ll say is, it may change my perception of the club I’ve supported since before I was born.
Whatever, it’ll be too late for some Celtic supporters.

Its a new era at celtic park. …

How the feck that twat was not ordered off that day is beyond me. Also miller put a knee high tackle in on darren o’dea that warranted a straight red, but played the “butter wouldn’t melt in my mouth ” card ala mccoist and got away with a yellow . Who ref that day ? Thiomson ?
Can I Have.
I don’t buy the incompetency smoke screen either, it was the fastest corner ever awarded in the history the game.
He stood and watched Michael Duberry of St.Johnstone from four yards away roll the ball back into play with his hand, and blanked it.
Nobody is that incompetent.

Cheers chara
Oh .. now ive watched that again. . Can I change my mind and say I do miss the games against the huns :)
Or else charge them £300 each for a ticket to compensate for the damage that they will inevitably cause to the infrastructure.
Celtic are Celtic, they are more than a team they are a way of life. Just like the Catholic Church has had bad Popes but the faith was passed on by the people, there will be times when those in charge of Celtic may fall short in what we might expect of them. However Celtic does not belong to the Board or to anyone else, and it will go on regardless. The Huns in any form will never set my agenda or never cause me to stop supporting Celtic. When we do play some form of the Hun again, (which we most definitely will), if I have the opportunity to attend then I will, and win lose or draw that particular game, I will simply continue to follow Celtic. What else would I do.
I work 5 Saturdays out of every 6 and can’t commit to going to the games as I once could.
I often, like yesterday, find myself waylaid and not even home when the game kicks off, listening to the game on Radio Scotland.
And I knew Matthews had had a bad one…
A) Because it involved Lasley – I have even made a point of watching M/well against other teams to see if he applies the same ‘vigour’ – he simply does not do it. This is compounded by the fact that he has referees who let him away with it. I cite the game at ML1 a few years back at their ‘plowed field’ where he kicked every Celtic player but specifically Anthony Stokes without a card from the ref – I think they won 2-0 that day.
B) On the Radio I heard that wee nyaff commentator who sounds like a primary school kid and, I regret to say, Murdo – immediately go for the ‘firm but fair’ tackle routine. Then as the seriousness of the tackle made itself evident there was some backtracking by Murdo but he couldn’t go back on what he said. Nyaff pipes in loudly with ‘got the ball’ and lists Matthews’ recent injury stats.
Lasley – like many, gets a free ride – from the refs to the press.

Rioja going down a treat ‘-)
What about Lafferty’s karate kick on ZZ
Tommy Joad 18:12
Consider the tackles of McCulloch on Kayal, Healy on Forrest, Lafferty on Hinkel. Pre meditated violence. Weir’s seven ankle crippling fouls on Robbie Keane before he earns a yellow.
———————————————————————————————-
Throw in Weir on McDonald, Thomson on Keane and Lafferty on Zheng Zhi.

That video sums up why I hated thon deid team and continue to hate the scottish footballing authorities .
