The exceptional Celtic Movement

900

When this publishes, I should be a few kilometres into the Great Scottish Run.  These events can be humbling.  You see people there with messages on their shirts.  ‘The big C’ gets a lot of mentions, in many of its forms, as does heart disease and conditions most of us will, fortunately, be less familiar with.  Some simply have a loved one’s smiling photograph on their back.  Their former feeling of helplessness matured into purposeful action.

I’m running for Celtic Charity’s 1254125 campaign.  This is not something controlled or even organised by the club, but it is fundamental to what Celtic Football Club is.  The Celtic Movement was called together in a church hall in November 1887 to alleviate the distress of poverty in those unable to feed themselves.  It is different from other clubs because it started differently and has since walked unfamiliar roads.

The spirit to help others has been increasingly self-evident in recent years but I am sure the commitment has become more embedded as a result of 1254125.  It is now part of our routine, what we know to expect from ourselves.

We will only stay different if you and I continue to insist we walk (or run) unfamiliar roads.  We all worry about where our club is going.  There is little we can do about many potential dangers but we can make sure Celtic remains anchored to the spirit which founded it.  You can support 1254125 through the MyDonate page I setup to convince me I shouldn’t give up halfway through this run.  Your support is appreciated.

Yesterday we lost Cllr George Ryan, or St John Doyle, as he was known on these pages.  George touched the lives of hundreds of people but unless you were in direct contact, you would not know what he did for the people of Glasgow, for Celtic supporters in difficulty, or even for the Thai Tims.  He was an exceptional Celtic man who lived the way exceptional Celtic people have ever since that meeting in St Mary’s Hall.

  4. Sorry but won’t let it lie there *don’t work Mondays* amid posts demonstrating my unequivocal, undying love of Celtic

It’s got nothing to do with I’m an uber supporter from Abu Dabi and you’re an uber supporter from Tollcross who both pay financially *or don’t for all we know* to Celtic in the same, or differing amounts.

It’s a question of Celtic’s status, posture, stance, and constitution and I don’t give a flying, for anybody that doesn’t physically actively and financially support the Celtic ideal, which is set out for anyone, to research and mimic, but not without question otherwise we’d be run by Gefinor.

The Celtic Board of Directors are behind the eight ball, (some already think they’re hiding) as were Robert Kelly, Fergus McCann et all,

The only difference this time is that it’s the biggest thing that ever happened in Scottish Football.

The ‘ i’ll always support Celtic better than you regardless’ brigade may be asked to betray the heritage of their brothers, who went before them.

I’d consider a ban on Sevco Scum who’ll wreck CP like their deid club did before being allowed into Celtic Park.

I’d consider an apology for being found guilty on eleven counts of cheating.

I’d consider Celtic’s refusal to go to iBrokes when the Scottish Cup draw takes place *it will happen*

I’d consider Celtic extending a welcome to ‘the new’ Scottish club to Celtic Park for the first time.

I’d consider very carefully Celtic Custodians

Watch This Space, as wee Celtic season ticket holder number 24,373 disappears into the sunset, whilst Sevco run amok in Scotland aided and abetted by the SFA, MSM and former lovers of Rangers.

Anybody interested contact me at lennybhoycfc@gmail.com

If we were going for the £295 tickets we would need about 70 x £20 donations. If there are cheaper tickets obviously less. I will contact Ticket Office tomorrow see what options we have.

Unfortunately even if the tribute act go belly up as did the 1872 version. They will reincarnate yet again because there are too many zombies who want to see a team in blue play at the bigotdome. I would rather we never play them ever again, but I will always support my team. When the day comes and it will I fear for the safety of our fans. The sevconians see their predicament as the work of the unseen Fenian hand. The carry on at the under 18s game was a taster of what is to come.

  19. bournesouprecipie, I don’t think its any supporters trying to obtain bragging rights as being more Uber than others. For my part all I am saying is that nothing or nobody is going to stop me from supporting Celtic and I’m also pretty sure that Season Ticket Holder number 24,373 will never stop supporting the Celtic either.

This is one of the reasons I love CQN we rally round in the true spirit of Celtic we are there for one another … I love that we sit here texts going crazy all trying to find the tickets for St John Doyles family

Would George appreciate corporate hospitality? I honestly don’t know!

I would LOVE Celtic to offer them it! For the good work he carried out throughout his life. Then the monies all of us would contribute be passed onto the 125 charity in his name! Personally I feel that would be more fitting.

However if corporate is the way to go then count myself and my 2 sons in for £20 each

A wee story re St John Doyle

The WeeOscar4Life campaign was up and running and we were trying to organise the day for the Green Bucket Army to march on Paradise. To apply and successfully be grant a licence to collect on the streets takes up to 8 weeks. We agreed on the date and spoke to GCC about whether the date was free.

Bad news it was not and neither was the dates around it. GCC offered us a date which was 4 weeks away or we had to wait until February, The latter was not an option, as Wee Oscar needed the money now. We asked how could we get a licence granted in time and GCC said we would have to gamble on it…….and then I found that we had a GCC councillor on CQN. MWD made initial contact and St John Doyle was on the case.

He cut through all the red tape and made the WeeOscar Green Bucket Day a reality! He was one of our nominated Battallion Leaders for the collection and was placed in charge of the stairwell with his team. This was a covert operation, as we had no permission to collect on the grounds of CP. He took it in his stride, with his family in his team at his side.

One of many fine volunteers that day that helped others down on their fortune.

HH to St John Doyle ad his family

    I reckon that’s the plan.

Burn cash till they’re skint then announce that the only way to avoid administration is a sale and leaseback.

Assets sold on a forced sale basis and leased back on a ransom basis.
