The Mahatma Gandhi question

902

It was curious that Peter Lawwell was quizzed on potentially having a conflict of interest in deciding if a recent multiple-convict would be regarded by the SFA as Fit and Proper to direct a football club.  The club in question are not even in our league; conflict exists only in the heads of those who persist in believing in a ‘Firm which expired on the liquidation of one party.

I’ve avoided the appropriateness of a recent convict directing a football club as the deciding matters appear overwhelmingly obvious.  There are no written rules on being Fit and Proper, largely due to the Mahatma Gandhi question posed by Neil Doncaster last year.  Gandhi was a convict, but one of impeccable character.  The contemporaneous character references are all important.  The SFA will also be chastened by recent experiences.

My guess is that in the unlikely event the Nomads acquiesce, Peter Lawwell’s views will be immaterial.  “Nobody likes us, we don’t care” has nothing to do with it, just find someone Fit and Proper!

Delighted that Aberdeen’s quest for silverware survived Fir Park last night.  This club have underachieved for around 20 years now but Derek McInnes stands a reasonable chance of delivering second place in the league, as well as the League Cup.

Not so delighted at Hibs capitulation.  Despite playing like Brazil in the 1970 World Cup for the first 15 minutes of their home tie against Hearts last night they were soon out-muscled, with more than a few players looking miles out of their depth.  There is no compensation for Scottish football in Hearts progressing to the semi-finals.  They are mid-crisis and will remain so, irrespective of how they perform in cup competitions, but the absence of Hibernian from the genuine challengers is a regret.

Morton went down to a late St Johnstone goal.  They have now lost five and drawn one of their six games since winning at Celtic Park, their only victory since August…..

With this in mind, I’ll refrain from referring to the potential advantage of having a Cup Final at ‘home’ until we have earned the right to be there.

Dreadful news of Fernando Ricksen.  I hope he finds strength from those close to him in the years ahead.

The new CQN Annual is looking great, really delighted with it. Thank you to everyone who has participated in the project. You can pre-order below:

    JFH,

If thats what happens I’d hope we get his replacement before he’s sold, else it gets messy with people looking to hold us to ransom

If Fraser goes in the January window, what alternative is there currently within our price range?

    Philbhoy..,

Cant agree on Zaluska last time I saw him he played an absolute stormer

  10. I’d prefer to keep FF until he’s had a few England caps. His value will go up even though the time left on his contract will have run down a bit and it will help future recruitment if a target is reluctant to come to us because of fears it would jeopardise their chances of an England call up.

I hear what you are saying.

He was a separate guy called Tupperware Lid Man of course he has a separate catalogue called – The Tupperware Lid Man

And in keeping with his products, he always got lost, and you never seen him again.

  12. A few weeks back I asked for advice re my laptop – it was riddled with viruses etc. Got it fixed during the week – £40 to be debugged of 200 virus, trojans (whatever they are) etc – reasonable enough I thought. Another £50 to get a portable hard drive. transferred my pictures, files and what not and it’s running great.

Anyway, another question, I was offered a security package for £30 a year by the guys who fixed the laptop. Can’t blame them for trying. However I declined and I’ve put Avast on to it – is it OK or should I spend the extra and pay for something better?

By the way is it betond the realms of possibility that the people who spread some of the malware/ viruses/ trojans etc are the same people who try and sell the cure for them?

Doubt we need worry about losing FF before next summer. We should still be in CL or EL

    However,

Peter should still buy a keeper in Jan window to bed in prior to 14/15 CL qualifiers,

as Fraser will almost certainly be offski in the summer.

There’s a fairly hefty Wall in China – he could buy that if they don’t need it anymore- maybe even pick up a decent striker in the 1.4 billion (underestimate?) population. :-)

RT – I use Avast and Malwarebytes and they are fine, even when using dodgy fitba streams. You still have to be careful though. The basic Avast product is free, but you can buy a more comprehensive version as well.

Avast will do the job ( to a certain extent of course). I use bull guard as it has some top notch protection against financial passwords being lifted, but as a basic cover avast should do ok. Similar to avg….does a reasonable job.

  19. I see that Paul Murray was banging on last night about creating a Sevco Constitution that all directors of the mythical club will have to sign up to.

It will supposedly be “what they are all about”.

Might be interesting, will certainly be funny, something to look forward to having your jaw drop when you read it kinda documents.

I think we’d all like to keep him full stop but the sad fact is he doesn’t appear to have caught the bug like Sammi did.

Saying that, we’ve only got the meejas rumours about interest in him.

But and this might surprise many, I trust PL to get the best price possible, hopefully he will include add on such as extra for title and champions league appearances/wins, that would be worth a mint if barca signed him :o)

Zaluska is a decent keeper- but clearly Lenny only sees him as cover fir his main man

Methinks he will suffer from the bridesmaid tag – which is unfair

But that’s how it will pan out if Fraser not replaced.

The good news is that decent young keepers will be more inclined to step into the shoes of our great wall..

    Happy days
