There will be goals

733

Dundee have played 12 games since losing 6-0 at Celtic Park in September, scoring in all but one of those occasions. Only Celtic and Aberdeen have kept them out in 21 games this season. They lost five last time out to Ross County (scoring twice), but scored four against Accies the week before. Season tickets at Dens are excellent value for money. There will be goals when Celtic visit tomorrow.

Kane Hemmings scored five of their six goals against County and Accies. He’s a direct player who makes runs from deep into space but a large portion of his goals come as a consequence of defensive errors. In short, he appears to run at defenders in anticipation of them making a mistake, not a wholly unproductive strategy for strikers playing against Celtic this season.

Ronny Deila will be keen Celtic build on the positives from Tynecastle, although the on-going absence of Leigh Griffiths will be a concern. I reckon we would have seen Carlton Cole at some point against Hearts if it were not for the plethora of injuries which restricted the manager’s options. Hearts had done their homework on Nadir Ciftci, who was well marshalled throughout. He can expect a similar night tomorrow.

Partick Thistle’s role in the title race will come into focus over the next week. They are on an excellent run ahead of tomorrow’s visit to Pittodrie at Saturday’s game at Celtic Park, having won their last four league games. You can win two Premium Seat tickets in the Jock Stein Stand for Saturday’s game, courtesy of Magners, if you answer this question:

Who was the last Partick Thistle manager to win four consecutive top flight games?

Email your answer in the SUBJECT line to celticquicknews@gmail.com before 17:00 tomorrow (30th). My Partick Thistle knowledge is limited, so editors decision if final……

And if you are so minded, having read what you’ve done already for Mary’s Meals in 2015, you can donate a £1 or so towards them here. Many thanks…………

  1. Get in there, two games in hand!

I was gutted the game was postponed but for numerous reasons (including tomorrow’s possible headlines) maybe the Big Man did us a favour with Francis.

  2. LOL @ the Sheep bottle crashing.

Still, at least wee Chick Young’s dislocated wrist will finally get a rest tonight…

  3. Stick around, at some point this will be RD fault for Aberdeen not getting three points, this result will shut a few up in here, who where just so desperate for Aberdeen to get three points, and don’t kid yourself either, the divide the club mob are here in there droves, this result will not suit there agendas trust me, oh and they will say….what agenda? …….we have an enemy with in us, and as sure as shit sticks to a goats arse, this is not the result they wanted, they wanted three points for the sheep, and they didn’t, so just for them and the lurking Huns GIRFUYs.

  4. There wasn’t too much confidence in that last stat.

However, if it’s right, it would’ve been even worse were it not for the Jambo volleyball player.

  5. Watched the sheep game in its entirety and Thistle battled well all game, sheep started strong and should have been in front crashing one off the bar and numerous goal moth chances.

Thistle to their credit gave them no space and rallied around the ball making blocks and vital tackles.

Sheep like us did not have that player to unlock Thistle with a bit of flair and they went into their shell for periods where thistle dominated.

Second half first 30 mins was like target practice for Sheep but Thistle held in and again had a10 min spell of their own where they could have won it.

Sheep look down as if they know they keep blowing chance after chance but quite frankly their long ball into the area approach did not work and they continued to try it.

Good game to watch and hopefully quite energy sapping for Thistle before the weekend.

    Mon the Hoops.

But I do know with almost 100% certainty, even had the game gone ahead, there wouldn’t have been a sectarian song sung at Dens Park.

    Ps by the Celtic support.

  7. …as the boo’s….. (booze?…..) ring round Dens Park………..how long can Delia hold onto the poisoned – chalice that is the Parkhead job.
