This is our trophy

Until recent times, the Newco penalty kick win over Celtic in the 2016 Scottish Cup semi-final was the greatest day in the club’s history.  They celebrated like it was a Petrofac Cup win all over again.  The teams have met twice in Scottish Cup business since, Celtic scored six over the two dates without reply, a merit scarcely recalled among our incredible achievements in recent seasons.

Our subsequent 21 games in the competition brought 21 wins, 20 within the 90 minutes.  Hearts and Partick Thistle scored a total of seven goals against us in that period, all the others put together managed to score just twice (Aberdeen and St Mirren getting one each).  In the history of spherical objects, Celtic’s domination of the Scottish Cup has never been matched.  This is our trophy.

  1. Good morning cqn from a chilly but dry Garngad

Bring on Sunday, If we turn up with commitment, heart and pride in that Jersey then we win but our finishing needs to be on a par with last Saturday. Our finishing this season has been very, very poor.

  2. With a cup tie this weekend, I’m guessing today won’t be the day for an article on our search for a new manager. An honest assessment of our last managerial appointment and the priorities this time around.

Every day allows agents to work for their clients, touting them around any number if clubs.

Every day is one day less for a new managerial team to make a difference.

As before, we obsess over short term goals whilst having no obvious strategic plan.

Beautiful day for exploring Scotland amazing landscape, I have been fortunate to see much of it

Nail on head Jimmy, sadly a PLC board full of Toom Tabard

A PLC that is stale, devoid of the energy, intellect, and football knowledge to take this club forward

We are the Evergreen cargo ship of the football world stuck in the sandbanks of inaction

The PLC board has not released any information on the “REVIEW” LOL that was started in December last year

No details whatsoever ! At the very least IF there is structural change with for example a DOF position being created, what harm to inform the fanbase ? not exactly giving away state secrets

No one on this blog promotes and scare mongers regarding sectarian divisions more than you troll, the hypocrisy of that post is really quite astounding. 17%?

Every day you troll on here about the big scary proddies and the cult whilst playing the victim, you are not a Celtic supporter, if you are then you are a disgrace.

“As far as I am concerned, the Scottish Cup is of little value to Celtic this season – it has been an horrendous campaign – let’s leave it at that”.

Some having a go that I don’t want Celtic to win – nothing could be further from the truth, I’d want Celtic to win at tiddlywinks – I said that the SC was “of little value” this year.

    …………….

According to you the Scottish Cup is of little value this year ?

So I take it that you will NOT be Posting anything in relation to the cup game against Sevco this Sunday ( win or Lose ?)….as ANYTHING that you do Post…..will also be of ” Little Value” ?

You claim to have been a member of the Labour Party until the ” Commie” Corbyn took over as leader ( your words…not mine), you also claim to have ” Worked” with Labours Jackie Baillie in the past ?

In the last 24 hours on here in relation to Nicola Sturgeon on a TV programme yesterday…YOU ” Object” to her naming and stating ” Johnston” towards the end of her interview.

Firstly, why would ANYONE who claims to be a Labour supporter/member ” Object” to ANY mention of ” Johnston” and his failings by another Politician, as Sturgeon apparently did yesterday ? I have watched ” Boris Johnston” breaking the Ministerial code on at least TEN occasions, by stating LIES to Parliament in recent times…When will Johnston face an 8 Hour interegation…like Sturgeon did ?

Secondly, To BOAST about ” Working” with Labours Jackie Ballie as you did last week on here…is NOTHING to boast about, and I KNOW that from personal experience.

She did a RUNNER when I questioned her when she turned up UNINVITED on my doorstep, trying to get my Vote a few years ago.

She had NO answers to any of my questions, DESPITE my being a Life long Labour Voter whiuch I made her aware of.

She couldnt get away fast enough !

    Chump.

  8. Like many others…for Celtic to win the Ten this season was everything to me….

However, this cup tie and the following League game against Sevco have taken on a whole ” NEW” Meaning.

It would be great to knock THEMS outta the Cup and then hopefully go on and retain it…and it would be equally great to also gub Thems in the league game, to deny them being self proclaimed ” Invincibles”…

IF Celtic turn up…and the Officials do their job fairly and properly ( Thats not asking for too much is it ?)…then the Celts can shut this Mankie Mob up for a while anyway ?

    HH.

  9. Beautiful morning in the South Side, after coffee I’m off over the Moor for a run on the bike.

Although the hills out of Eaglesham seem to become more difficult each time I do them.

  10. Well, today is not just another day here in Scotland. We can now visit anywhere in Scotland, as long as we don’t go indoors, wherever we fetch up….

One place I realise I am missing badly is Celtic Park.

As for the game on Sunday, in spite of what some on here feel, I fear we will not have an even playing field. That’s how it is and always has been in this country. I gather, according to Radio Scotland, the players in Scotland are prepared to walk off the pitch if there is a racist incident. I wonder if this includes a sectarian one. I very much doubt it. Has any politician been brave enough to even mention it? Not that I’m aware.

  12. Two decent squads.

One has been well coached and over performed this season, with the results and prizes to go with it.

The other has been poorly coached and has underperformed even beyond that.

On their day, and given the other’s weaknesses, one could hammer the other. Alternatively it may be close.

Can Celtic overcome 12 man ‘rangers’?

  13. TIMMY7 – you got me all nostalgic for days when I used to run from the ‘sham out the Humbie Rd towards Mearns, then up round Bonnyton GC and back down the B764 road back to the village. All before Nikes were invented. Enjoy!

Unbelievable that Kudela only getting 10 game ban, Effectively finished in 6 weeks. What detergent does that send out UEFA Taking the knee Show racism the red card waste of time if this is the punishment Having witnessed it I was 100% convinced that this had taken place.

  15. What odds would you get for Huns getting a pen on Sunday?

I would also wager that Moreloss is allowed to foul and dive with impunity.

I thought the Ref at the Arsenal v Sparta game last night was quite good he did not fall for any diving or faining injury. In other words he done his job.

Will Bobby Madhun and his lodge of friends/colleagues??? Not a chance

Come on Celtic we have faced this since our inception, overcome it on the park and call it out afterwards

  17. Is it not possible just to be patient in the pursuit of Eddy Howe.Still, without any evidence, the Board and Desmond being blamed for the delay.Would the moaners rather we ditched Howe, and brought in someone else?I have no love for the Board, but as far as I can see, they,or rather Desmond has done his bit.Its now down to Howe.I will say this he must have impressed Desmond to some tune, for him to be as patient as he has been.

Not been another manager seriously mentioned,so calm down,if HE wants the job,he will be here.

  18. Turkeybhoy

Can I ask what you’re basing this on?

“I have no love for the Board, but as far as I can see, they,or rather Desmond has done his bit.Its now down to Howe.”

I have no evidence to contradict this, though I wasnt aware there was any to validate it either.

I have no idea what either side has done, what has been asked or offered, what the sticking points are.

All I know is that we’re the only spl team who doesn’t know who’s going to be in the dugout at the start of next season.

Hope we both enjoy next season more than we did this one!

  19. If Howe rejects the offer of the Celtic job (assuming he has been offered it, there’s no conclusive proof that he has) would we be told immediately, or only once someone else is appointed?

  20. if you review the Glasgow head to heads this season in the league and ignore the results and the external issues around them; there is cause for optimism on Sunday

    1. Oct. a very poor performance but in the first half, any time we broke their press, we create good opportunities. They looked apprehensive but we failed to capitalise and their confidence came back wit the second goal

    2. Dec. we played with confidence this time and were all over them first half. The apprehension I mentioned before was evident the whole half. We fell away second half in energy but we had them on the run when we played more direct

    3. Again we went on the front foot and had them on the run. A poor goal conceded seemed to see us settle for not losing. We had a solid back 4 for the first time this season against them

In summary; get control of the ball and get the forwards moving/running/ harassing their back 4 ; avoid dropping deep to get touches, the only touches they need is in the 6 yard box.

  21. Big Jimmy,

I can only base it on what we know.Desmond met Howe,a deal was agreed in principle,at the time.Since then, nothing has led me to believe, this is now,not the case. What we don’t know,is what the reasons are for Howe not being in charge now.We can all speculate, and listen to the clueless media, who know as much as we know, but if Howe has reneged on the deal,we would know.We would already be looking elsewhere.

Whatever you might think of Desmond,I imagine he is not a guy who will be effed about.Until I hear different,Howe will be the manager.Moaning about the delay, and blaming anyone who takes your fancy that day, will not speed up the process.
