CELTIC are looking to get three deals completed before the end of the season.
Brendan Rodgers has promised to “fire up” the squad as he prepares to plunge into the summer transfer market, as CQN reported.
Before that, though, the champions want to secure Republic of Ireland international Liam Scales and exciting teenagers Rocco Vata and Daniel Kelly on long-term contracts.
S-T-R-E-T-C-H…Rocco Vata is at full tilt as he performs in Celtic’s 1-1 draw with Aberdeen at Pittodrie last month.
The youngsters have impressed Rodgers in their rare outings this year and both have scored their first goals for the Hoops as they make swift progress.
Winger Vata, son of ex-Celt Rudi and a member of the Irish Under-21 squad, thumped in his first in the 5-0 Scottish Cup romp against Buckie Thistle in January and midfielder Kelly claimed his debut strike with a memorable effort in the 7-1 league rout against Dundee last month.
The powerhouse 18-year-old is out of contract at the end of the current campaign and has been linked with Bundesliga clubs Bayer Leverkusen and RB Leipzig.
SHOVE OFF…Daniel Kelly competes for possession with Hearts duo Lawrence Shankland and Cammy Devlin.
However, the Hoops are eager to get his future sorted, rather than running the risk of losing him for training compensation of around £400,000, according to a report in the Daily Record.
It’s a similar situation with Vata, who is also 18. He is being monitored by Serie A outfits Bologna and Como and Celtic are keen for the wide Bhoy to put pen to paper to extend his terms.
Scales has taken over the position vacated by Celta Viga-bound Carl Starfelt in the summer and still has 15 months to run on his deal, but Rodgers wants the former Shamrock Rovers versatile defender to pledge his future to the Parkhead club.
