I’m not about to give you a character reference for Aleksandar Tonev, he may be prone to racist outburst, for all I know. Society, and therefore football, still has a racism problem, just read how coolly Luis Suarez played addressing an opponent as “negro”. The game has to react firmly when presented with racist banners, which regularly appear in Eastern Europe.
On the balance of probabilities, would a born-and-bred Scottish international be judged to have made a racist remark during a game against an opponent he doesn’t share a common tongue with?
If Kenny Miller was similarly accused and claimed to be misquoted, how would you feel? Scottish footballers just don’t have a history of this kind of remark; I’d be inclined to believe Miller. So, I expect, would Scottish football.
Tonev comes from one of those Eastern European countries. Scottish football acknowledged it had no evidence to act on but found him guilty.
Based in just as little evidence, could you please decide if Scottish football is guilty of racist generalisation in its handling of this matter? I know you don’t have enough evidence to come to a proper decision, but that’s the point.
Maybe if Aleks was at Ibrox on Tuesday making flute band gestures to TV cameras at halftime, the like of which Scottish Government minster Roseanna Cunningham once insisted was unacceptable and illegal, we’d all realise he didn’t mean any harm. Or was it just the Sign of the Cross, Ms Cunningham?
But Tonev’s not “one of us”, so who cares?

I’m not sure-I wasn’t online at the time,and I think the post was deleted-but seems KEVJ admitted to racial comments in the past. This might be behind his CQN resignation.
It’s no secret that he and I don’t see eye to eye,but I’d be sorry to see him leave if that was the case. I doubt he is the only poster who regrets past indiscretions. If they were a bar to posting,the place would be virtually empty.

Just when I thought i couldn’t dislike sleekit Sally any more, he comes out with all that mince in the media, I read some of it on newsnow Celtic.
His utterances and behaviour over the last four years have shown what a horrible, reprehensible character he really is. In saying that, I hope he stays in charge of the tribute act as at least he’s doing a great job there, for us.
Hopefully, a few goals and a clean sheet for us today. Let’s get our job done.
More importantly, we surpass the great amount raised at last year’s food drive.

If he was admitting to stupid behaviour when younger and feeling disgusted at his younger self, then I say well done for having the balls to admit your past indiscretions on here. Especially as there are so, so many judgemental posters on this site that will judge you for ever more. People change and evolve their outlook on life and each other, so i hope that he was admitting to this kind of behaviour because he’s proud of the way he’s changed his attitude around.
If the context is different and he still holds these intolerant beliefs then there’s no room for him on this site IMHO.

Say a wee prayer or put up a thought that the weather stays fine as with the consent of the cardiac nurse, I may attend my first game since the night of the Maribor one. Cannot believe how much I have missed the games. Sitting at home read the blog or listening to the radio is a poor way of being involved. Oh but I have been most grateful to those who kept me informed during that time on the blog, except for the Hamilton game, of course.

The Daily Ranger is going to town today. 4 anti Celtic pro Sevco stories on the back page then an article about VVDs horrendous and sheer pointlessness of a tackle at the end of the game last week. I hope all Celtic supporters have the sense to avoid this gutter rag.

Two hours and four minutes until the acgrmobile departs deepest darkest Carmyllie on the paradise run. All I need is a good Celtic co pilot and we’re good to go. JJ will arrive in two hours to sit in the co pilot seat.
I saw KevJ’s racist admissions yesterday and as before I couldn’t give a toss if he stays or goes. My bet is that he’ll stay as he needs the attention to keep his anti Celtic ego pumped to the maximum. I’m just happy that I’ll never have the misfortune to have him stand beside me at paradise in the guise of a Celtic man.
