Value of Ledley’s back post goals

764

Celtic didn’t hit the heights of last week’s win at Tynecastle against Inverness last night but it was a remarkably controlled win nonetheless.  The game could have been over as a contest in the opening minutes but as the lead didn’t extend beyond a single goal the contest retained an edge.

Daniel Majstorovic was incorrectly penalised when he correctly challenged for the ball 25 yards from goal but the Swede’s lax initial response to the forward ball created the situation that resulted in his red card.  Dan had a painful game against Inverness last season but after they were reduced to 10 men Celtic were far too composed to let Inverness’ numerical advantage count.

We’ve spoken about the value of goals from midfield in recent seasons.  Kris Commons lit up Celtic’s season when he arrived in a flurry of goals last year but Joe Ledley’s efforts from the back post this season could prove to be even more important.

    Antrimkev;

I wasn’t having a pull at you; like I said. I hadn’t seen your joke.

What did I expect from Frankie Boyle live?

    That’s a difficult one.

Put it this way though I didn’t expect a trendy Bernard Manning.

    As I said he’s a knobhead…

  2. Sorry if it has already been posted

but has anybody read celtic underground article “Lennon 100 not out Ride on”?

Don’t know how to do the link thingy so you will have to have a look for yourselves but i think it is well worth a read, inspiring stuff!!!

can we lose the SPL now?

is it too good to be true?

i watched their match yesterday and for 25 minutes Dunfermline gave them a match – Dundee Utd, Hearts or Aberdeen away would have taken points of them

we still have to be on our guard 18 wins in a row – there still will be a slip up

Johnny Hayes, must have been flattered with the interest we showed in him – compare the 14 man v Celtic we always face statement v the Maj got the ball i was getting back in position when the ref awarded the free kick

    You could be right:

Following on from the racism row I can exclusively reveal the SFA are to investigate racist remarks from Rangers manager Ally McCoist when asked by a journalist why he hadn’t made any signings in the January transfer window he replied ‘Cos of that Whyte prick!’

    Keep the Faith!

    Hail Hail!

  5. Sorry. The Levante goal made it 3-2. But Benzema has just scored to make it 4-2. Twenty minutes of the second half gone.

    Why am I not surprised?

If the Celtic Board collude in any scheme to have a newco huns admitted straight into the SPL then as far as I’m concerned Celtic and Scottish football are dead and they will not be getting one thin dime from me ever again.

The best example I can think of is:

The police will arrest you for committing these offences at Ibrox and protect you for committing the same offences on the high street.

    As I say,the politicians don`t have a clue.

My wife said, “Who are you going for?”

“Well love,” I said. “A team in green against a team in orange. Take a wild guess!”

Looks like you were pushing against an open door with your latest message about the Celtic board. The message indicating that there are hawks as well as doves in the Celtic boardroom seems to have made less impact than your statement.

  13. The sending off of Dan yesterday may have the opposite effect that the cheat had in mind, I reckon it will galvanise the squad even more, Lenny knows what we are up against more than most, and he will leave the squad under no illusions, that we will have to fight hard for the title.
