CUP THAT CHEERS…Brendan Rodgers beams as he holds aloft one of his three League Cups – in the guise of the Betfred Cup – during his first stint as Celtic manager.
Rodgers won the League Cup in three successive years – Aberdeen (3-0, 2016), Motherwell (2-0, 2017) and the Dons (1-0, 2018) and Neil Lennon continued the silverware sequence with a 1-0 victory over Steven Gerrard’s Ibrox side in December 2019.
There was a hiccup during the wretched 2020/21 campaign while Ange Postecoglou picked up the first of his five trophy triumphs with a 2-1 win over Hibs in December 2021 when Kyogo Furuhashi scored a stunning second-half double.
And the club’s talisman was on target a year later when he flashed two behind the stranded Allan McGregor in a 2-1 success over Michael Beale’s Govan club in February this year.
The draw can be seen live on Viaplay later today.
