LUIS PALMA is likely to be unveiled within the next 48 hours as Celtic’s SEVENTH signing of the summer.

And Brendan Rodgers revealed he needs to bring in more new faces before Friday’s midnight deadline.

Palma is on his way to the champions after his Greek club Aris Thessaloniki agreed a fee in the region of £4million for their 23-year-old Honduran international star, as CQN reported during the week.

However, second time-around boss Rodgers is aware his team needs strengthening after back-to-back blanks with the scoreless stalemate against St Johnstone at Parkhead yesterday following the 1-0 Viaplay exit at Kilmarnock the previous weekend.

CELTIC BOUND…Luis Palma is heading for the champions in a £4million deal.

The Irishman, who must revive the spirits of his players ahead of the visit to Ibrox a week today, said: “I think it’s clear we’ve improved the squad with some of the players we’ve brought in, but we’ve lost starters, so we need to improve the team.

“If you go back to my first time here, the team was fast, dynamic and cut through the lines very quickly, created goals and scored goals.

“I think this is what we’ll eventually get to, but we’re missing those certain profiles. Hopefully, we can bring that into the squad and be a lot cleaner and quicker in our play.”

Rodgers, speaking to The Scotsman, added: “I spoke to the club when I first came in and assessed the squad and we need to improve the quality in there.

“There have been a number of names mentioned, but as soon as we sign anyone we’ll let you know.”

The Hoops’ six recruits so far have been Marco Tilio (£2m), Odin Holm (£2.25m), Yang Hyun-jun (£2.1m), Kwon Hyeon-kyu (£850,000), Maik Nawrocki (£4.3m)  and Gustaf Lagerbiekle (£3m).
