We Shall Not Be Moved

Was it really almost 15 years since the only time Celtic beat reigning European champions?  A late goal from Scott McDonald in October 2007 was enough to secure a 2-1 win over Milan in the Champions League.  Two other Scottish clubs had already achieved this (Rangers and Dunfermline, both who beat the 1967 European champions), recording a mark the great Stein sides never did.

The reason I mention this to you is that in the days that followed we were glowing in our new European status.  Then we visited Fir Park.  It wasn’t even Motherwell we faced, it was Gretna, a team from 90 miles south of ML1 who did not have the facilities to compete in the top flight, so travelled the M74 for home games.

Gretna were leading until 85 minutes, when goals from Chris Killen and another late McDonald winner calmed our nerves.

We are now glowing at our great win and performance on Wednesday night.  ‘We shall not be moved’ from the top of the league is the claim.  I heard the same chant from Dingwall on Saturday when Newco took a 2-3 lead; chants don’t win points.  The next game is always the biggest one and for Celtic, the next two, both on the road, are crucially important.

Players are not machines, they cannot climb the mountain every time.  There will be an inevitable fall off in adrenalin at Fir Park.  There are 14 games remaining, seven away from home, every one a cup final in itself.  An acre of Lanarkshire is the stage for our next trophy.  Win and keep belief alive that not by the Hearts, the Hibs or the The Rangers, we shall not be moved!

Blueish with yellow belly will be a Blue Tit.

Watch out for Coal Tit and Great Tit.

Coal Tit is smaller, than Blue Tit has a black head and light brown/ cream breast.

Great Tit bigger than both, Black head and yellow breast.

I hope I’ve not bored you too much.

  3. Saw a couple of Nuthatch in our garden last year – got a family of 7 magpies still hanging around – tits everywhere – oooh missus

  4. Gene it’s not really my cup of tea but as I am getting older I seem to be noticing these things.

I have to say I was thrilled, I know the pigeon, wouldn’t have been, I must have just missed the attack, as pigeon was still flapping with Sparrowhawk on top, when I looked out.

I couldn’t believe how long it stayed.

It was really lucky, as I should have been elsewhere but it was postponed, so ended up in house.

Brilliant about Nuthatch, lovely bird, one of the big success stories in recent years.

I know some are relatively close to me,but I’ve not managed to get one in my garden, yet.

  7. I don’t think Tom or Maeda will start – my worry is if Callum plays someone will take Boyd’s suggestion.

  8. Jimmynotpaul – Never boring me sir I love a good natter about anything in life.

    Especially Hmm birds and t#$

    Sorry I had to.

But seriously great stuff and I will be watching out for those.

In the summer I thought I saw a yellowish/green bird like a budgie or small parrot type, but I was either pashed or it was an escaped house pet.

Unless we are well ahead, I think Juliienne will make his comeback next week against Raith.

    I think Callum will start.

If the yellowish green bird had a black head, then probably a Siskin.

I get loads of them, in the garden, I’m not that far from you, in Cumbernauld.

  11. Jimmynotpaul – Cheers might have had a black head I cannot remember but again I’m going to keep an eye out.

    D :)

  12. I travel home and away and neutral. I have never seen Newco and never will whilst they are deemed to be Oldco, which probably means I never will. Celtic have been complicit in this farce with their prices for Newco fixtures. They sicken my happiness.

Anyway another Archbishop for Craigneuk. That’ll dae.

  13. Laxalt Could you tell me who the Sky Sports editor is ,I would like to ask him how he is getting away with employing retired Sevco players ,he needs to be removed,is Cairns his name .

“The ludicrous & oft repeated “we’ll be lucky to finish in the top six”, or words to that effect, was said tongue in cheek ”

    ————————————————

    Aye Right?? So it was??

Your tongue was in your cheek.

Your cheek was in your heid

And your heid was up an orifice into which no tongue should venture

  15. BURNLEY78

    GT played well enough.

But Juranuvic is the standard we should be looking to achieve at left back.

Petec is far less likely to have endangered anyone than those who had been vaxed.

Simple fact that he had to do a lat flow test pre game. Unlike others.

As for your friends recently. They are very unlucky. The recent death rate is far below even the flu in any normal year. Blaming and abusing petec and the infantile name calling is not big or clever.

Just because he does not believe the MSM narrative and does his own research does not merit your abuse. Clearly those in power at the time did not believe their own messaging either.

  17. St Tams

Josip is an amazing find. In any other season he would be lauded way more than he is.

We have so many others to chose from and Anthony has been so good also.

  18. Win our next 6 league games and I reckon we can relax and focus on the Europa Conf and Scottish Cup in late April and May. Not that Ange would allow that in reality.

Not hospitality today. Just had a wee notion to go this morning.

I was actually sat amongst 30 or so English in west stand. It was fun at the end. I had let them know my thoughts on swing low sweet chariot. My stare and mouthing racist scum probably gave it away.

Really gutsy performance from a team who had backs to the wall for 75% of the match but have grown into men now and saw it through.

Lovely to see some kids I have watched since playing with and against my own son at age grades coming through and performing at this level. Jamie Ritchie and the Fagersons are great lads.

Hopefully a result in Cardiff and we could be heading toward a 6 nations win and a Quadruple trophy season for Celtic this year.

But maybe that’s the 3rd glass of wine talking.
