We Shall Not Be Moved

674

Was it really almost 15 years since the only time Celtic beat reigning European champions?  A late goal from Scott McDonald in October 2007 was enough to secure a 2-1 win over Milan in the Champions League.  Two other Scottish clubs had already achieved this (Rangers and Dunfermline, both who beat the 1967 European champions), recording a mark the great Stein sides never did.

The reason I mention this to you is that in the days that followed we were glowing in our new European status.  Then we visited Fir Park.  It wasn’t even Motherwell we faced, it was Gretna, a team from 90 miles south of ML1 who did not have the facilities to compete in the top flight, so travelled the M74 for home games.

Gretna were leading until 85 minutes, when goals from Chris Killen and another late McDonald winner calmed our nerves.

We are now glowing at our great win and performance on Wednesday night.  ‘We shall not be moved’ from the top of the league is the claim.  I heard the same chant from Dingwall on Saturday when Newco took a 2-3 lead; chants don’t win points.  The next game is always the biggest one and for Celtic, the next two, both on the road, are crucially important.

Players are not machines, they cannot climb the mountain every time.  There will be an inevitable fall off in adrenalin at Fir Park.  There are 14 games remaining, seven away from home, every one a cup final in itself.  An acre of Lanarkshire is the stage for our next trophy.  Win and keep belief alive that not by the Hearts, the Hibs or the The Rangers, we shall not be moved!

So, I can’t critisise Petec for fraudulently entering Celtic Park with fake ID but its OK for you to call English Rugby fans “racist scum” for singing Swing Low Sweet Chariot?

Your name fits if you think swing low is acceptable!

If petec didn’t have the bug then he is less likely than any one else to pass it on.

Surely that makes sense. Worth highlighting anyone jabbed in early December will have nearly no immunity left now and will be as vulnerable as anyone not vaxed. The numbers actually suggest more so. No one is even disputing that despite the farce of passport checks etc.

More than 50% of the folk I saw going into rugby today were not even bothering to show any passports etc. No one wearing a mask apart from Princess Anne. Just as virtually no one was at Celtic on Wednesday. Except for yourself of course.

  8. If i was as ugly as Princess Horse …i would wear a mask every feckin day.

No Horses were harmed in this production…

“They’re not laughing at Big Ange now, the hacks and whacks of the SMSM; Angeball reams the lauded Dutch dillgence of Groinio Transit-Van Bungleheist. He demanded the players focus and run the drills and stick to the gameplan and move and pass and create and, finally, pump the Covidites. Instructions carried out to the letter. Every player he picked playing their role as given. 9 of the starting 11 Ange’s new bhoys.

Care to look at the official govt number of those poor people who died with only this bug as the reason for their passing ?

It’s a very small number. Less than 5 digits. It’s a lot less than those taken by the flu in any normal year.

But that doesn’t fit the narrative.

  12. Drambowie

Agree on both. The mask did enhance her look.

I have no idea if my Son is fully vaccinated?

  16. Burnley 78,

I would wager that the vast majority who sing ” Swing Low” are not racist scum. They would be unaware of the origins of the song .

In the same way that the majority of Scotland supporters who maybe read Burns poetry would be unaware of the history of Edinburgh landmarks they passed going to Murrayfield that are linked to the slave trade . Eg Melville monument, and Bute house ( The official residence of our glorious leader.

You will also be aware that Scotland as a nation benefited disproportionately from the slave trade, and that relative to population, Scots owned more slaves, more plantations and had a higher share of the transatlantic trade in plantation goods such as tobacco and sugar than England or most other European countries.

We still benefit from this wealth, so are we all Racists. ? Of course not.

    We cannot change history.

The terms racist scum, vermin etc are unnecessarily used far too loosely and frequently on this blog.

You will also be aware that there is still a slave trade in 2022. Now these participants are vile, racist scum.

We cannot change the past, but where is the outrage for slavery in our time that we can change.

    Where is the outrage.?????????

  22. “You produce a good performance and now people will be looking at us and thinking, ‘can they go again.’ And all these questions are going to be asked of us between now and the end of the season. So we have to respond properly as a group by staying humble and keep working and keep getting better. From here on in, it’s so important to try and produce the same level of performance and if we can get even better, that’s the challenge for us now. We’ll continue to play our football, be relentless and we pick up the wins that we need and put ourselves in a good position. But as I said, the hard work starts now in terms of staying focused, staying calm and playing our football and getting results. That’s our full focus now.”

“Surely that makes sense. Worth highlighting anyone jabbed in early December will have nearly no immunity left now and will be as vulnerable as anyone not vaxed.”

    ———————————-

    This is not accurate:-

The unvaxxed include a wide variety of people from ages 0 to 90 and their vulnerability doesn’t have a mean, median or mode since they don’t submit themselves for assessment.

The situation for the vaxxed and boostered is nowhere near as bleak as you paint (you come close to Johnny Nice Painter fae the Fast Show)

The true situation as measured by scientists who have to submit their data for peer scrutiny, as opposed to Philosophy students or people who want doctors to estimate theur “natural immunity” (which is guesswork no matter how much “own research” you do) is presented here:-

    ———————-

Figures show that around 3 months after they received the third jab, protection against hospitalisation among those aged 65 and over remains at about 90%.

With just 2 vaccine doses, protection against severe disease drops to around 70% after 3 months and to 50% after 6 months.

The Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) has taken this latest evidence into account in their ongoing review of the booster programme.

The Committee advises that at this present time:

there is no immediate need to introduce a second booster dose, or fourth jab, to the most vulnerable (care home residents and those aged over 80) – the timing and need for further booster doses will continue to be reviewed as the data evolves

priority should continue to be given to rolling out first booster doses to all age groups

unvaccinated individuals should come forward for their first 2 doses as soon as possible

Professor Wei Shen Lim, the JCVI’s chair of COVID-19 immunisation, said:

The current data shows the booster dose is continuing to provide high levels of protection against severe disease, even for the most vulnerable older age groups. For this reason, the committee has concluded there is no immediate need to introduce a second booster dose, though this will continue to be reviewed.

The data is highly encouraging and emphasises the value of a booster jab. With Omicron continuing to spread widely, I encourage everyone to come forward for their booster dose, or if unvaccinated, for their first 2 doses, to increase their protection against serious illness.

The latest study looked at booster doses in those aged over 65, who were among the first to be eligible when the booster rollout began in mid-September.

Whilst with a booster dose, the duration of protection against severe disease remains high, protection against mild symptomatic infection is more short-lived and drops to around 30% by about 3 months.

    ———————————-

So please do not imply your protection is gone by two months or is equivalent to someone who is unvaxxed- sure even Novak claimed to have caught Covid (sure he did?)
