We Shall Not Be Moved

674

Was it really almost 15 years since the only time Celtic beat reigning European champions?  A late goal from Scott McDonald in October 2007 was enough to secure a 2-1 win over Milan in the Champions League.  Two other Scottish clubs had already achieved this (Rangers and Dunfermline, both who beat the 1967 European champions), recording a mark the great Stein sides never did.

The reason I mention this to you is that in the days that followed we were glowing in our new European status.  Then we visited Fir Park.  It wasn’t even Motherwell we faced, it was Gretna, a team from 90 miles south of ML1 who did not have the facilities to compete in the top flight, so travelled the M74 for home games.

Gretna were leading until 85 minutes, when goals from Chris Killen and another late McDonald winner calmed our nerves.

We are now glowing at our great win and performance on Wednesday night.  ‘We shall not be moved’ from the top of the league is the claim.  I heard the same chant from Dingwall on Saturday when Newco took a 2-3 lead; chants don’t win points.  The next game is always the biggest one and for Celtic, the next two, both on the road, are crucially important.

Players are not machines, they cannot climb the mountain every time.  There will be an inevitable fall off in adrenalin at Fir Park.  There are 14 games remaining, seven away from home, every one a cup final in itself.  An acre of Lanarkshire is the stage for our next trophy.  Win and keep belief alive that not by the Hearts, the Hibs or the The Rangers, we shall not be moved!

  1. Interesting debate about Kris Boyd.

Has he crossed the line now ? I think so.

In fact a very civilised debate today on a variety of topics.

HH to all, the journey continues.

Unfortunately it’s not over – my son in law tested positive today probably 1 of 80,000.

  3. Victory for Scotland in le Rugby! Calcutta Cup two years running. Close game, not much flair on show, both teams very cautious…..

Ireland looking stongest team thus far in the 6 nations.

Thank you for your comments. I don’t “defend myself”, as you say, simply because I don’t feel attacked. It is so crude & mostly rambling that it just passes me by. I am of course well aware what prompts it.

What concerns me is that this site is disrespected by these outpourings. I would never subscribe to people being censored, or, banned, for posting their views, however different they may be to my own….but of course abuse is a different matter.

The world evolves because people change their minds, sometimes as a result of a discussion with another holding a different view – it has happened to me on a number of occasions, and will again.

Quite frankly I would be aghast if I had anything in common with those who hurl abuse…. save of course for my long-standing love of Celtic, which is non-negotiable.

Omicron was the Death Knell for this virus. Downing Streets crap during lockdown says it all.

    Well Done Scotland!!!!!

  6. Strange decision by Engurlund to go for the try when a penalty kick would have drawn the game.

A bird in the hand and all that.

I’ve lost 6 BT colleagues to this virus. Two in the last fortnight!

I haven’t been to a game for several months as my mother is very vulnerable. Your selfishness is absolutely staggering. You could be the cause of someone being hospitalised due to your attendance on Wednesday.

Its not your decision to decide the worst is over.

Re, your comment about GG’s politics on the slide I think you said?

Maybe if GG was a pedo, sexual abuser, woke winker, mysoginist, sneered at the working class, happy clapped all the lockdowns that were a vast overreaction, jumped for joy at 200,000 members leaving Labour because they don’t share the same values as the red Tory shadow cabinet, then maybe GG might still be part of Labour, but he isn’t because it wasn’t GG who changed, it was Labour under warmonger Blair, GG was sacked for kicking up hell about the fake war in Iraq, I’d call being sacked out of such a swamp as a badge of of honour, but maybe you see it differently? Whatever. Listen to GG yourself. hh

I am ok with not going to a European Final, I reckon Celtic will be doing this under Ange.

    You are seriously misguided.

Not getting vaccinated is my decision.

I do not think you are a Celtic fan.

    Thats my view.

  13. Years ago up in the Club Deck in Ibrox we Celtic were playing a semi final game ,can’t remember who were playing that night ,but one thing I noticed was the amount lawyers names were on the seats ,that alone tells us what we have been up against for years and in the present day ,That tell it all David Murray should be in the jail ,but when you have all these cronies around you you will never be sent down.

  14. Timbhoy163,

Definitely agree David Murray should be doing a lot of Time. The guy hopefully does @ sometime. He destroyed Scottish fitba.

    Ok, I’ll try.

For me, on occasion, there seems to be an element of pretence in your posts. I’ve no idea of your education background, but you seem to post in a fashion that might fool people to believe you are highly educated. Or, you’re trying to give the impression you have a journalistic background.

If it’s a) highly educated…..you wouldn’t be on this site, you’d be posting, if at all, on some high brow site spouting your political preferences to those who might appreciate it. But you’re here.

If it’s b) journalist…I’m sure we’ve had a number on here intermittently, just to get a flavour of the Celtic support…or just to wind up…but like I say…that happens intermittently. But you’re here.

You have also made some ludicrous statements that no bone fide Celtic supporter would…one I remember…ie…”we’ll do well to finish in the top six”

    before a ball was kicked.

For me…and from what I’ve read on this site…you just don’t seem genuine….it’s like an act…

    Something’s not quite right….

Oh that’s right, no Tim would ever be called Billy.

Mind you, there was that guy McNeill…

    “You are seriously misguided”

    ?

“Not getting vaccinated is my decision”.

Yes, but the decision of Celtic FC is that YOU are not currently welcome! You are in breach of stadium regulations.

“I do not think you are a Celtic fan”.

I’ve been on this site since the start.

Did you attend CQ10? I did. I sat at a table with MDW, DownforSam, Papa John, I met Lennybhoy, Mr Z and PFAyr.

Were YOU in Seville? I was.

My story was published in the CQN book to mark the occasion. Feel free to have a read.

You’ll also have read three of my contributions over on SC over the past few months.

I sit in 409. Thank God my son, who is there in my absence, is sitting nowhere near you!

I hope you now feel as stupid as you actually are.

I can only assume, from the incoherent garbage you post on here, that this life saving vaccine is the only drug you WON’T put in your body!

    Arsehole!

  19. Petec

My advice would be to get vaccinated

I also believe that those vaccinated can pass on the virus just as much as the unvaccinated

    Unless I’m wrong

  20. Ernie, Neilbhoy and any other bird watchers.

    Mega,excitement for me, today.

A female Sparrowhawk took out a feral pigeon, in my garden, this afternoon.

38 mins it stayed, eating it, before a neighbours cat spooked it.

I managed to get it on video and watch it through binoculars, not the actual kill, just the Sparrowhawk enjoying its meal.

    Ernie.

It was definitely not a Goshawk. :-)

  21. Timbhoy163

I’ll hazard a guess it was the game we lost to Falkirk. I was in the Club Deck too that night.

Those names are probably still on the seats but the “seat for life” didn’t pan out for the debenture holders. I had two colleagues who lost £1700 each in 2012 :-)

  22. Petec.

    You are wrong.

Billy bhoy is most definitely a Celtic man and he goes to the games.

I can vouch for him 100%.

  23. 31003

You’re correct I caught it from a vaccinated friend – luckily I had 2 jabs at the time and had mild symptoms – that was the Delta variant.
