We Shall Not Be Moved

674

Was it really almost 15 years since the only time Celtic beat reigning European champions?  A late goal from Scott McDonald in October 2007 was enough to secure a 2-1 win over Milan in the Champions League.  Two other Scottish clubs had already achieved this (Rangers and Dunfermline, both who beat the 1967 European champions), recording a mark the great Stein sides never did.

The reason I mention this to you is that in the days that followed we were glowing in our new European status.  Then we visited Fir Park.  It wasn’t even Motherwell we faced, it was Gretna, a team from 90 miles south of ML1 who did not have the facilities to compete in the top flight, so travelled the M74 for home games.

Gretna were leading until 85 minutes, when goals from Chris Killen and another late McDonald winner calmed our nerves.

We are now glowing at our great win and performance on Wednesday night.  ‘We shall not be moved’ from the top of the league is the claim.  I heard the same chant from Dingwall on Saturday when Newco took a 2-3 lead; chants don’t win points.  The next game is always the biggest one and for Celtic, the next two, both on the road, are crucially important.

Players are not machines, they cannot climb the mountain every time.  There will be an inevitable fall off in adrenalin at Fir Park.  There are 14 games remaining, seven away from home, every one a cup final in itself.  An acre of Lanarkshire is the stage for our next trophy.  Win and keep belief alive that not by the Hearts, the Hibs or the The Rangers, we shall not be moved!

Livingston getting disturbingly close to Top 6. Not a place we’d rather visit post split. Dundee and St. Johnstone becoming adrift at the bottom.

Law of averages says we’ve got to put in a good performance there eventually :O)

  4. In fact…. Your post is outrageous and both you and I know that… for that reason I will publicly ask a moderator to remove it and I will also ask Paul67 to look into this. You sir have just outed yourself for the liar you are

    —–

I can answer very easily & quickly.

I am me – I have been me for so many years and there is little chance of me changing now. I can’t help how you perceive me, but you’re entitled to your opinion. I would never attempt to make a judgement about someone of whom I knew nothing about – it’s the content of the posts that interests me – but then people are different.

The ludicrous & oft repeated “we’ll be lucky to finish in the top six”, or words to that effect, was said tongue in cheek when after losing three of our first six matches this season and were lying in seventh place. There were many on here and elsewhere that were seriously scathing at that time. But, hey, if that’s the best-shot that some have got, my sleep pattern won’t be affected.

I’m a Celtic supporter and I express my views honestly – my guide is that I never post anything that I would not be prepared to say face to face.

I worked for someone who was a friend of his.

My fight begins today. Thank you and good afternoon.”

This is not only blatant lies, but also defamatory.

Please make this poster own up to the lie on the blog, or, do as many have asked, and bar him from the site. This statement is devised to divide and disturb.

    When and where?

  15. I’m one of the idiots that pays Sky £1600 a year to watch the football.

I watched the full coverage on Wednesday in the house.

Sky never showed the occasion in a good light.

They never showed any of the tifos or banners.

They never showed one single shot of the whole stadium.

They never once showed the lights adding to the atmosphere.

They showed groups of 50 fans doing the incredible ‘ Let’s all do the huddle’ instead of the awesome sight of the whole stadium taking part.

Add in, Kris Boyd and Andy Walker and you start to believe the story of the Sky Sports editor being an Orangeman and sharing a masonic

    or orange lodge with Boyd.

This guy was in charge when Morelos was maliciously misquoted about Celtic fans and racist abuse.

Now, Celtic will know all this too and I think they have no choice but to tell this mob to GTF .

If they don’t, this will be ramped-up as Sevco fall away.

Yeah, threesy they call you because of the numbers, yeah it was definitely you.

The numbers ring a bell. I used to check back on the blog for days after the post was posted and the posts from you and the other poster were still up, amazing. No doubt they’ll be deleted now that you’ve called your solicitor.

Ernie, Neilbhoy and any other bird watchers.

    Mega,excitement for me, today.

A female Sparrowhawk took out a feral pigeon, in my garden, this afternoon.

38 mins it stayed, eating it, before a neighbours cat spooked it.

I managed to get it on video and watch it through binoculars, not the actual kill, just the Sparrowhawk enjoying its meal.

    Ernie.

It was definitely not a Goshawk. :-

    ——-

Jimmynotpaul – I had a Kestrel on my neighbours fence last week right here in the Garngad 15 mins walk from city centre. I was amazed I managed to photo it but dont know how to post pictures on herI am sure it was a kestrel, defo a bird of prey though.

  19. Jimmynotpaul – I actually just googled the bird with the photos I have and it looks like a sparrow hawk.

    Never heard of them.

Are they common in built up areas?

I have never seen one before up here in the 25 years since we bought this house.

  21. David 66

Used to see sparrow hawks regularly over the fields in Toryglen – but that was a lifetime ago

  22. David 66

Hunting they hover for ages looking for mice weasels even rabbits, very impressive birds then dive straight on top of what they have spotted, dont know about the city but in semi rural areas they are about, as are buzzards now, they also like road kill

  23. David 66. 9.01.

    They are not uncommon.

Their diet is almost just other birds, so wherever birds are, there is a chance of a Sparrowhawk.

Of course, as we build more and more houses, the birds are becoming more urban, as their natural territory is destroyed.

Sometimes you will see them on street lights.

Majestic birds, the female is a lot bigger than the male and the breast is a different shade.

  24. Dessybhoy – Cheers, I was really excited to see it sitting on the neighbours fence and I managed to get a photo before it flew away.

I sent the photo around a load if family and friends some who stay in our Crescent of 26 houses.

To see if anyone had seen it or seen it before but nada.

    How sad am I??

Years ago I would be looking for a different type of Burd :)

  25. Well Martin at least you confirmed you are Kev , not that any of us had any doubt about it,

Why anybody would create multiple blog names, talk to themselves and about themselves escapes me,

There must be a better way to pass your time.

    Hope you are OK.

  26. Jimmynotpaul – Thank you.

I will certainly be paying attention to the wildlife in our gardens now.

Since we moved in here we have the usual stuff foxes, squirrels, loads of sparrows and small birds some blue ish with a yellow belly, Robbins, magpies – bloody nuisance and loads of wee fueld mice as all the back gardens back onto each other. Probably the same as any urban development.

    D :)

  27. I am also sure there are bats in the church steeple at the top of Roystonhill just to the side of our houses.

    Anyway. Thanks for info.

  28. I see tomorrow’s kick off is 13.30 for some reason thought it was 12.

Anyway Scales for Taylor and maybe Bitton for calmac – if he’s not suspended. I’d start with GG
