Wee Oscar 4 Life

1150

If you have been in Celtic Quick News or several other places online in recent months you will be aware of Oscar Knox’ battle against Neuroblastoma.  The CQN community has never been slow to react for those in need.  On this occasion Bundoran Bhoy and Celticrollercoaster have taken the initiative and have launched the Wee Oscar 4 Life campaign.  This is what they plan:

Today we are launching the ‘Wee Oscar 4 Life’ campaign focusing once again on the generosity of the Celtic family and the Celtic Internet community. In the past your generosity has helped better the life of Kano & Vanessa to name but two. Now Wee Oscar needs you 4 life.

Over the next few months, with the full support and endorsement of Wee Oscar’s family, we will be holding a number of events where we will all be able to come together to raise money that will go to helping provide Wee Oscar the immunotherapy treatment he desperately needs to help his young body fight of further attacks of Neuroblastoma (an aggressive form of childhood cancer).

So please look out for confirmation of dates that will be posted over the next couple of weeks, book your tickets for the events, bring your wallets and were possible help us promote the following events:

Wee Oscar 4 Life Celtic Quiz Night (based roughly on the Friday night CQN footie quiz)
Wee Oscar 4 Life Bucket Collection
Wee Oscar 4 Life Race & Auction night

We are also planning a cycle from Glasgow to Belfast for St Patrick’s weekend in March 2013 and will be looking for cyclists to take part in this event to raise funds for the Wee Oscar 4 Life appeal. If you are not from Glasgow there is no reason to stop you organising/participating in a cycle (or maybe even a run or walk) from your local town to Belfast on the same weekend.

Around £80,000.00 pounds has already been donated to the Wee Oscar Appeal and we hope that the ‘Wee Oscar 4 Life’ events detailed above will take Wee Oscar closer to the target of £250,000.00 the family require to raise.

As ever our thoughts and prayers are with Wee Oscar Knox, his Dad Stephen (CQN’s very own Knoxy2000), his Mum Leona and Wee Oscar’s sister and best friend Izzie.

We welcome your continued support and look forward to seeing you over the coming months.

Birra Moretti will indeed suffice in an emergency, as it has often done for myself! Drinking it just now as a matter of fact – 33cl can from the local supermarket: 75 cents!

Ah, the auld Tennent’s ‘cooncil’ lager! Wonderful (??!!). I’m also partial to red wine (meal-times), and, whisper it, G n T and Campari and Soda!

    HH!!

  2. Proudbhoy,

Thanks for the info – just seen the interview with Neil on SSN – very disappointed that he is mentioning that he not sure about seeing any of the money. By all means, “service the debt”, but we also have to re-invest when we make money. Otherwise, we will stagnate.

If we do have funds made available, then I don’t see us rushing to buy in this window – we always seem to sell late in the window, so I’m OK with January. What I’m definitely not OK with is further downsizing when we don’t need to.

Re Bangura, injuries are part of the issue, along with only fleeting opportunities in the 1st team, for good reasons. Not sure we’ll offload (or be able to), but also not sure we’ll ever see much of him in a Celtic shirt.

Totally agree with your point …..BUT sadly, every agent in the game and hence every chairman will know exactly what terms, money, incentives, etc etc were signed up for. Next week or so they will also see out accounts in all their glory.

We will have to use our alternative plan….I will outline that later…..after my dinner and another side helping of skunk – part of my 5 a day!

  4. I dont believe for one minute that we wont spend but i think NL is sincere when he says he doesnt know if he will see any of it Cause it just goes to prove that PL runs football side as well as everything else

Remember the story of Dermot asking if we should really be spending 6m on Chelsea reserve who had only scored 2 goals Our Manager reminded our owner that Martin O’Neil was in charge of football matters 2 days later a certain Mr Sutton arrived

Unfortunately whilst i love NL he knows that he wont get as big a job elsewhere so he needs to accept whatever PL decides Critically PL knows this as well

    My fave is Birra Castello

2nd choice would be Nastro Azzurro

    3rd choice would be Peroni.

    4th choice would be Moretti.

My nearest neighbors are 2 elderly brothers who are not on speaking terms [ told it’s lasted @ 30 years —–]

One of them drinks —- Moretti La Rosa [ @ 8/%]-the other drinks Peroni Gran Riserva. { 7 %] Both taste like Benelyn mixed with Carlsberg Special to me.

I never could get into any of those locally produced dramas somehow. I’d rather read about their themes than watch someone’s interpretation of a character.

Ah,man,if yer ever back in Kilwinning, let me know.

We shall hit the town, confuse the barstaff and confound the locals.

Do you want cucumber with that?

  8. Hi,

Can anyone recommend a pub to watch tmrw’s game in the Broughty Ferry / Carnoustie area ?

    Ta.

  9. HT still going. England have three wickets left and were looking at an impossible number of runs but Prior and Swann have run riot since tea and the mood is changing.

England need another 70 or so to win the match.

  10. I didn’t need the Monday club whilst employed by probably the world’s best

lager (bp)before peroni. Life was one big Monday club,3 hrs work,3-4 hrs lunch in Vogue,

clock out and retire back to pub.

A toil ,but someone had to do it.

  11. Has awe naw had a nevous breakdown? He seems to have gone radio.

And as for philvis : if he keeps hooverin’ the Colombian marchin’ powder,it’ll all end in big non-existent septum snotters and tears. Perhaps behind bars,if he keeps admitting to illegal drug use on an open blog. Silly capitalist arrogance tends to land its cheerleaders in the dock.

Or is philvis just really Jeffrey Archer?

    : > ))

  12. HT

Just as the bowler was coming in to turn his arm over, a mole stuck his head out of his hole and tripped said bowler who went skidding along the turf and triggered the sprinkler system which short circuited the under soil heating causing the batsmen, fielders and umpires to be burnt to electrocuted crisps, and the stands to catch fire barbecuing the spectators to a light tasty consistency.

The game was therefore declared a draw.

And that is the end of the CURRENT series!

    All of the cash.

Or yer gonnae have a riot on yer haunds!”

    HH!

  14. The vast majority of the seasaon ticket holders from last season have reinvested in the club. despitr this seasons league campaign being a foregone conclusion. However from both the league games so far it looks like the players are acting like they feel they just need to go on the pitch to win the game. If this continues (and the resulting performances) with no investment in the first team then this time next season the board will be praying to sell 20,000 season tickets and will probably end up disapointed!

This is not a ‘defend the board’ post. Lennon needs money – if Ki is sold I think he should get at the very least part of the money.

However NL hasn’t said he’s not getting any of it, and that it’s all going to debt servicing. He’s said he’s not sure if he’ll get any money and that it might go to debt servicing.

NL is an intelligent man and he knows how to spin just as well as any at CP. If he was looking to get a fan reaction to try and convince the board to give him some cash, what do you think he’d say?

  18. Thank God I just support the team on the park. Too many people on here, a few who dont even buy a season ticket seem to be obsessed with the Celtic board.

I know a shareholder who doesnt have a season ticket and he has every right to rag the board, unless your a shareholder he has more right to slag the board than you have to defend them and cast aspertions that some how your a better supporter than he is
