Wee Oscar 4 Life

1150

If you have been in Celtic Quick News or several other places online in recent months you will be aware of Oscar Knox’ battle against Neuroblastoma.  The CQN community has never been slow to react for those in need.  On this occasion Bundoran Bhoy and Celticrollercoaster have taken the initiative and have launched the Wee Oscar 4 Life campaign.  This is what they plan:

Today we are launching the ‘Wee Oscar 4 Life’ campaign focusing once again on the generosity of the Celtic family and the Celtic Internet community. In the past your generosity has helped better the life of Kano & Vanessa to name but two. Now Wee Oscar needs you 4 life.

Over the next few months, with the full support and endorsement of Wee Oscar’s family, we will be holding a number of events where we will all be able to come together to raise money that will go to helping provide Wee Oscar the immunotherapy treatment he desperately needs to help his young body fight of further attacks of Neuroblastoma (an aggressive form of childhood cancer).

So please look out for confirmation of dates that will be posted over the next couple of weeks, book your tickets for the events, bring your wallets and were possible help us promote the following events:

Wee Oscar 4 Life Celtic Quiz Night (based roughly on the Friday night CQN footie quiz)
Wee Oscar 4 Life Bucket Collection
Wee Oscar 4 Life Race & Auction night

We are also planning a cycle from Glasgow to Belfast for St Patrick’s weekend in March 2013 and will be looking for cyclists to take part in this event to raise funds for the Wee Oscar 4 Life appeal. If you are not from Glasgow there is no reason to stop you organising/participating in a cycle (or maybe even a run or walk) from your local town to Belfast on the same weekend.

Around £80,000.00 pounds has already been donated to the Wee Oscar Appeal and we hope that the ‘Wee Oscar 4 Life’ events detailed above will take Wee Oscar closer to the target of £250,000.00 the family require to raise.

As ever our thoughts and prayers are with Wee Oscar Knox, his Dad Stephen (CQN’s very own Knoxy2000), his Mum Leona and Wee Oscar’s sister and best friend Izzie.

We welcome your continued support and look forward to seeing you over the coming months.

    No.

I don’t like all this suggestion and inference that NL has been told he can have X,Y or Z if A,B, or C happens and I wouldn’t imagine he does either.

How do you plan if you’re told you £0 for no Europe, £2M for Europa League or an extra £7.5M for Champions League? (numbers made up for example).

Once we were guaranteed EL group should he have gone for a £2M CB, or does he wait to see if we make CL Group and get £4M CB and £4.5M striker?

I’d far rather be told you get £5M max and if we make CL Group you’ll get no more unless we sell.

It’s all conjecture but it does seem to be the scenario year after year. You need something concrete to make a solid plan.

Not been in a Kilwinning hostelry for years – just as well, because I think there are people still looking for me!

A p*ss-up in deepest Ayrshire sounds great – wont be back ’til Xmas I think, maybe sooner, and coming to a town not a million miles from Kilwinning!

    ASonof Dan,

I know a shareholder who doesnt have a season ticket and he has every right to rag the board, unless your a shareholder he has more right to slag the board than you have to defend them and cast aspertions that some how your a better supporter than he is

It is worth remembering that there is a category of shareholder who gets no dividend and is never likely to do so.

That particular shareholder more than any other, is entitled to see a dividend on the park.

I think Ki is overrated to be honest. His main attribute is his passing accuracy but most of his passes are about 10-15 feet!

I have never seen him take any game by the scruff of the neck and 11 goals in four seasons is poor for a Celtic midfielder.

Anything north of £6m is good business in my opinion, especially as his contract has less than 18 months to run.

I don’t think he’ll be missed as we have plenty of good midfielders. I hope he goes on to have a successful career and if he develops into the world class player that so many folk seem to think he’ll become, we should benefit from an appropriate sell-on clause.

    ohits @ 16 51.

Dreher is Hungarian but is brewed under license in Milan .

I think it tastes like Heineken.[ not a good thing ]

  8. ohits

There is indeed an Italian beer called Dreher.

Not a very Italian sounding name I grant you – but if I am not mistaken it is brewed in the North near the Austrian border where many of the inhabitants are of ‘Germanic’ origin and have ‘Germanic’ family names.

  9. Paul67,

I;m just in, what’s the fee for Ki, media saying 5m but didn’t we turn down 6m+ at the start of this transfer window??

All over. South Africa win the match and the series and take number-one spot from England.

The fee is supposed to be 5M rising to 8 depending on appearances and goals for the team.

One of my biggest regrets whilst working there was I was only 25km from Monte Cassino and never visited the place. My auld Da god rest his soul was also in an American hospital in Caserta during WW11 and I would have loved to have a better look around the area.

A couple of weeks ago, PL was issuing a rally round the flag Bhoys cry for loyalty.

However, PL ignores that loyalty has to be a two way street.

The fans loyalty must be reciprocated by meaningful investment in the team.

Not the usual wait and see what dross is available on the cheap at the last minute of the transfer window.

The monastery at Monte Cassino, I would suggest, is a must-see for anyone.

The only time I was there was almost 30 years ago.

It is hard to imagine that it was almost totally destroyed by allied bombing, but was , thankfully, restored.

    wonky radar

I hope he scores 10 – 15 goals down there if it gets us more cash.

  22. I don’t know if Ki has been sold or not or for how much but I doubt if any of the money will be used to buy a CH or CF. The reason I say this is not because I believe that Board are mean but because class players are NOT going to come to the SPL (and the Ross County’s of this world are just going to make it worse with their approach to the game). I don’t believe we can be compared with the likes of Ajax or Porto either. Football players, imo, would far rather play in Holland or Portugal (besides which Portugese teams seem to be able to import any Brazilian they want).

We need a complete change in attitude from all those involved in Scottish football, if the game is to improve as a spectacle and prove attractive to class foreign players. Allan Pardew was right in his estimation of the Scottish game. I had hoped for better this season. So far, that hasn’t happened and now doesn’t look likely.

  23. is Ki goes for £5m imo that is a disgrace..

cost £2 prob paid about the same in wages, where is the profit apert from in PL pay packet… Ok £1m

  24. Greenjedi – The only thing that matters in August this year is Europe and so far it’s played two won two!

weeminger – when was the last time we spent £5m?

Nail on the head after watching our game against Ross County I thought to myself how do you sell this s**t to a football player, Celtic are a big name but with the money you can earn elsewhere and everywhere these days the SPL becomes an increasingly hard sell for us.

When you see the likes of Dongcaster and Regan running our game into the ground that job gets tougher and tougher, to see this as a slight by Celtic on the fans is to miss the point of the dire state of the game at management level in our country.

I sometimes have a look at a Swiss game and although nowhere near the standard of the Bundesliga the players can all control and pass the ball, I have never seen any team here play ten men behind the ball and kick everything that moves.

Champions League qualification will be a big motivation in bringing players to the club…

    Bring on the Swedes..
