We’ve seen more of these games than Brendan

693

Thus far results haven’t mattered, but if his players walk into the dressing room at halftime tomorrow without being in the lead, you can believe there will be an edge in the team- talk. You and I have probably seen more of these kind of games than Brendan. They are seldom straightforward and while the manager plays with pretty much the hand he inherited, I don’t expect a remarkable change in outcomes.

Assuming results go to plan, we’ll have six Champions League qualifiers in the next seven weeks. That’s a lot of football, hopefully most of it will be played with the benefit of one or two more arrivals.

    Geezo….sorry about your accident!

My mum broke both her wrists about 7 years ago after she fell stepping off the pavement one morning going for her paper.

She had to try to crawl back to the house as she couldnt get up, but fortunately a neighbour spotted her and came out to help.

I still cringe at the thought of that happening to her but we had a bit of a laugh about it recently.

I had been putting new shelves up for her in a cupboard and when i took the old ones down i found this strange device so i asked her if she knew what it was for.

Once she had stopped giggling she informed me it was something the NHS provided for her to wipe her bum.

Going to be a tough few weeks for you mate!

Hope this comes across as intended and you can have a bit of a laugh about it.

  2. All the Holy Cross teachers were great. Bennie Fagan great guy. Blackjack McLaughlin super.

Even the Corduroy Kid was a carry oan. Nothing wrong with wee Gall and his ingrowing toenails.

    Jimmy McCormack!

If I didn’t like a teacher, I dogged their class. Simple!

BTW Happy birthday to everyone that has one. Best wishes to one and all, even if I don’t know who you are.

I know nothing about Red Imps so would be happy to win 2-0 away in Europe.

  3. I’m spending my week off repointing a wall. If Peter Grant was here this wall would be pointed [at] in no time. After such tedious work I expect Brendan’s Bhoys to excite me and put in a dazzling performance.

    1-0 will do.

Man, how our expectations have been realigned…

Very sad. Thoughts with the families.

Deniabhoy. I see you’ve mentioned Cafe Ole. One word of caution is that Pete doesn’t open every day, but if he is open he’s usually quite accommodating unless there’s a few English fans in wanting to watch one of their teams.

Would say the same about The Railway Tavern although it’s open on more days.

There is an Irish bar in Denia behind the market but I don’t know if they show games.

BTW. Are you up near The Katmandu?

Had a techy teacher at St Gregory’s Cranhill,a bully with a very strong and unfortunately speech impediment. Whilst trying to carve out a mutated albatross,he would pick on one and call it ‘absolute lubbish son….’cue a dozen 14 year olds trying to hide the laughter and tears…..

That’s obviously where I went wrong – dogging it for most classes…!

Jimmy Cormick (Sp?) I knew very well, as he used to give me a lift many a morning when I missed the bus from Busby to EK (frequently).

    HH

  12. !!BADA BING!!

Who was the techy teacher at the Greg? It wisny Felix Porter, was it? A hard man.

    I was there 60 to 66.

    (I know I look younger)

  13. Be happy with a 2-0 scoreline and no injuries tonight.

Although I look forward to the season, I really don’t know what we’ve got in the locker. You can make plus and minus points for almost every member of our squad based on what we witnessed last season.

We have of course got Brendan, and new boy Dembele looks like a tremendous prospect.

The proof of the pudding….as they say – let’s hope we are all asking for second helpings.

  14. !!BADA BING”

    You’re just a youngster!

The Greg was in Lightburn when I was there, subsequently transferring the name to a new school in Cranhill.

I think the old Greg was renamed St Andrews.

    My memory is gash.

  15. FRIESDORFER on 12TH JULY 2016 2:33 PM

Wee Donnelly the maths teacher at Holy Cross was of the same ilk as Wee Gall

    HH

Wee Gall was hell on wheels! I hate recalling his 1 to 10s, starting off while his heels were still clicking on the corridor flagstones. “one — they would have loved. 2…….” Always struggling to get the books out before he kicked off! Got belted for less than 6 right I think. Horrible!

All the Holy Cross teachers were great. Bennie Fagan great guy. Blackjack McLaughlin super.

The late great Black Jack was a top man. He was my teacher in 6th year studies. Played fitba against us – teachers vs pupils. Happy days :))

Felix Porter became heedy in St Rochs.

That would have needed a hard man.

Plenty sadist teachers at the auld Greg. Felix Porter was strict but a good guy. A miracle worker too…..got me through my Higher Engineering drawing!

Left before it moved across the Edinburgh road.

  19. Assistant heady Mr Martin, reminds me of Darth Vader without the helmut.

I’ll check Celtic bars and get back to you

  22. ‘Big Reid’ the other Latin teacher was a tall version of Wee Gall. I alway thought what a christian name to give anybody, that was all he was ever called.

Lines were his punishment! – some pupils preferred the belt, at least you didn’t need to spend hours and hours, all weekend long, writing lines.

Some the pupils could be bigger bullies than the teachers, as some of the teachers found out to their cost.

  23. I believe the only slight problem Celtic might face tonight will be the pitch. I expect a comfortable victory for the Bhoys.

3-0 or 4-0 with Moussa Dembélé opening his Celtic goal account.

    Hail Hail.
