White shirted fitness freaks arrive at Training Centre

911

Fixtures are out and the management team are in-situ at Bobbylennoxtown; the air of anticipation for a new chapter in a 126-year-old story lies heavy over Celtic supporters.  I wish we were starting tomorrow.

If you are a Celtic player, what would your overbearing sentiment be today?  If it was me, looking at photos of those two white-shirted fitness freaks at the Training Centre today, I’d be tempted to get out for a run, before the real business starts next week.

There are only a few things a manager can do in his first few days in charge of a new squad but setting standards for fitness and training are two clear examples.  Monitoring is not just about stepping on the scales anymore, the players will have their body fat, glycogen levels and heart beats documented from when they get back and throughout the season thereafter.  With benchmarks for all, as well as performances.  I’m feeling tired even thinking about it.

Hopefully, we’ll find out after a nice wee draw, or Costa Rica win, tonight!

    Good morning CQN,

I’m enjoying the independence debate, especially both sides trying to grab moral high ground while slagging off the opposition is funny as.

    Ernie…,

I’m no a nat and I detest the BBC and all it stands for, its simply a propaganda machine. It does not matter what part of the UK you are in it is as corrupt as the SFA. When I want news I usually look at RTV for something closer to the truth.

A couple of things to ponder on- my wife is taking the dog to a grooming parlour this afternoon- is there still such a thing as a parlour?

More importantly there have now been in the region of 50 arrests of GB members since the SNP started its “even the numbers” purge. These are the charges that have reached court and don’t count the dropped charges or several court appearances that each charge entails. From this there have been 5 convictions from 50 completed cases. You tax payers should be querying the cost of this with your local MP- the court and police costs as well as the social costs to these young men. The stats back up what most Tims already know- the law is flawed and is applied to target one demographic- you!

  4. Really, England couldn’t have asked for much more last night.

Praised, despite an opening match defeat, in most quarters, facing a Uruguay team who had lost their captain to injury, whose best player was returning after a pre-tournament knee op,

who had just been well-beaten by the supposed weakest team in the group, and all this on a beautifully mild evening, temperature wise.

They don’t deserve any more than they got.

A bit puerile and unimaginative to counter criticism of posters who always moan by posting a criticism of posters who never moan.

Didn’see much of the game last night as i was on bar duty at the cricket club -however driving home i was listening to 5live. Chris Waddle had a good 5 minute rant on the evils of the epl and why it was ruining the national side.

  11. Top of the morning to you all from sunny Fife.

For all you twitchers, a pair of swifts have been checking out a nest-box I had put up on the underside of a steel balcony at my house.

The only thing is the nest is supposed to be for House Martins!

It will be intersting to see if they move in. Even though they don’t the views of them checking it out are brilliant. From below they always look black but from above they are that dark chocolate brown colour.

  13. Feeling slightly sorry for England now, strangely enough.

Maybe the current side doesn’t have as many objectionable types like Terry, A Cole etc.

Obviously, I don’t want them to win it but it’s more craic when they get through to the QF and knocked out on penalties.

  14. I’m not sure exactly what the beef is with the BBC.

It has been responsible for some of the very best and widest ranging programmes that have ever been on the telly, programmes that would never get made by commercial channels who just punt out inane drivel that pander to the lowest common denominator in search of viewing figures to suit their advertiser paylords

It’s not perfect, but the words baby and bathwater spring to mind when reading some of the comments on here

The BBC is accused by the right of peddling a left-wing agenda, and by the left of a right-wing agenda.

Maybe it’s just reporting the facts as it and its employees see them.

And it employs across a broad spectrum.

  27. Two draws in their last two games would ensure qualification for both Italy and Costa Rica. However, there’s too big a risk for Italy to play for a draw tonight, as defeat to Uruguay could put them out of the competition on goal difference, depending on what happens in the Costa Rica v England match.

I believe no team has ever qualified for the knock-out stage after losing their 2 opening games, so England are lucky to be still in with a chance of any kind.

In making these assertions, I am aware that I may very possibly be missing something !
