White shirted fitness freaks arrive at Training Centre

911

Fixtures are out and the management team are in-situ at Bobbylennoxtown; the air of anticipation for a new chapter in a 126-year-old story lies heavy over Celtic supporters.  I wish we were starting tomorrow.

If you are a Celtic player, what would your overbearing sentiment be today?  If it was me, looking at photos of those two white-shirted fitness freaks at the Training Centre today, I’d be tempted to get out for a run, before the real business starts next week.

There are only a few things a manager can do in his first few days in charge of a new squad but setting standards for fitness and training are two clear examples.  Monitoring is not just about stepping on the scales anymore, the players will have their body fat, glycogen levels and heart beats documented from when they get back and throughout the season thereafter.  With benchmarks for all, as well as performances.  I’m feeling tired even thinking about it.

Just saw interview on STV with SIR Tom Devine. Always liked him but so

    disappointed he took the Knighthood.

Anyway he told a nice wee story on

Sectarianism within the jail. When (olden days) the tic played the huns supporters of both teams would dress up in their colours and regardless of the result their was never ever any trouble. Whatever team lost their fans would go back to their cells no problem.

So he knew about this (phenomenon) and asked why this was on a visit. A big heavy guy stood up and said, ‘ this was a non alcoholic prison. Absolutely superb response and answer.

CRC – Good on the wee yin :-)

HT has been extremely complimentary on my predictive skills … really encouraging and supportive ……nothing like losing at the 5s at all :-)

  5. It was surprisingly good play by the linesman to spot Gerrard heading that ball back rather than the Uruguay player (Homer has ruined me trying to spell Urugay)

Every time I see the 2nd goal it gets more appalling. There is no way that goal would be lost by any other team. Punt down the park !

    Sorry, Billy Bhoy 05.

Please explain as I have missed something

  8. At kick off Samaras sees goalie is off his line and almost scores from the half way line.

What a goal that would have been

  9. See the Greeks.. .Chile they are not.

What are they saving themselves for ?

    Lazy bassas…

  10. Watch the second goal tonight, then watch Tony Watts goal v Barca in the 2-1 game, they are very similar. Very.

Good point. Clear on replay, but not so much in real time. And great anticipation from LS.

  12. EPL, best League in the World, not in my opinion, but…..

What percentage of English players play in that league to make them possible World Cup Winners?

  13. You could have 100% English players in the league, won’t make them world champions.

You need 5 or 6 excellent players in a generation and the rest to be decent.

  14. The_Huddle, but with increased % chance do increase.

More players from a country playing top level football must mean a better international team.

More players to pick from, more chance of a balanced team.

4-6 great individuals may be a poor team if they play as individuals.

  15. England played Ricky Lambert tonight, 100 more Rickys isn’t going to make you more likely win a world cup.

England produce some very good players, they produce 100s of average players. I’d be surprised if by playing more of them in the top league would move them from the average pile to the very good pile.
