White shirted fitness freaks arrive at Training Centre

911

Fixtures are out and the management team are in-situ at Bobbylennoxtown; the air of anticipation for a new chapter in a 126-year-old story lies heavy over Celtic supporters.  I wish we were starting tomorrow.

If you are a Celtic player, what would your overbearing sentiment be today?  If it was me, looking at photos of those two white-shirted fitness freaks at the Training Centre today, I’d be tempted to get out for a run, before the real business starts next week.

There are only a few things a manager can do in his first few days in charge of a new squad but setting standards for fitness and training are two clear examples.  Monitoring is not just about stepping on the scales anymore, the players will have their body fat, glycogen levels and heart beats documented from when they get back and throughout the season thereafter.  With benchmarks for all, as well as performances.  I’m feeling tired even thinking about it.

You really can’t make it up with England and their media. They’ve been going on for weeks about dropping Wayne Rooney and yet this evening he went close three times before scoring and then got the tap-in. Given that he also set-up their goal the other evening against Italy whilst also going close to scoring, it’s fair to say that he has proved what the rest of us all knew, namely that he’s their best player and he should be the first name on their team sheet. Of course, that wouldn’t be the case if Luis Suarez was English!

I can’t help but think that Fraser Foster would have prevented three of the goals that England have conceded so far, including the two this evening. Like others, I don’t know what the English see in Hart.

I predicted earlier that England would lose this evening. Too many people read too much into Uruguay’s performance against Costa Rica. And now England not only assume that they will win their remaining match but seem to think that they will do so handsomely.

Apologies if already posted but Suarez second goal was so much like Tony watts against Barca.

Brilliant gamble and movement and class finish.

Been a huge fan of Stevie Gerrard but he’s been so poor it’s depressing to watch.

  14. I hope England go through if only because it gives big FF a better chance of getting a game. And because I remember Wayne Rooney being in with us at Ipox.

    Hi All,

After watching that magnificent result against poor olde Engurland ( I had to leave the bar early in case I blootered out ya beauty at the winner) Hail hail to all Celts.

What about Paul’s header? does that mean the 7 a side bhoys need to get seriously fitter what about the CQN golfers.

Are we a bunch of fat bassas?

What about the 10k this October?

We need to shed a shed load of weight, especially since I’ve just been blootered for 2 weeks.

Let’s start a CQN fitness and diet club. All suggestions to Paddybhoy1888.

Ian wright god bless you and yours what a terrible horrible thing to go through.

I saw him at palace a few times and what a player.

Unfortunate timing at Celtic, but a scapegoat for me.

Next, big ff would have saved all the goals against england.

  20. Pogmathonyahun aka Laird of the Smiles on

Wayne Rooney will be getting it in the neck again tomorrow. The goal he scored will be conveniently forgotten. What will be highlighted will be his header off the bar and the shot saved by the keeper in the second half – ” he should have put both chances away”

    Englandshire needs a scapegoat.

The good thing about now having a crap memory is I can now watch films again and again

Henderson is the new amalgam of Gareth Barry, James Milner and Stewart Downing. “How to play 100 games and be anonymous in all of them”

It’s been great watching England play so many players out of position, mainly because they selected lots of players whose favourite position is the same place. They made the same mistake with Lampard & Gerrard in 3 successive World Cups and they’ve done it again.

I like Hodgson as a manager but he bowed to pressure and selected players based on club form rather than select a proper squad based on his favoured formations.

Shame England haven’t won the tournament, would’ve been a stick on yes vote on 18/9. The best we can hope for is a few mentions of ’66 in the next couple of weeks.

Italy v Costa Rica is a stick on draw tomorrow. 1-1 for me.
