White shirted fitness freaks arrive at Training Centre

911

Fixtures are out and the management team are in-situ at Bobbylennoxtown; the air of anticipation for a new chapter in a 126-year-old story lies heavy over Celtic supporters.  I wish we were starting tomorrow.

If you are a Celtic player, what would your overbearing sentiment be today?  If it was me, looking at photos of those two white-shirted fitness freaks at the Training Centre today, I’d be tempted to get out for a run, before the real business starts next week.

There are only a few things a manager can do in his first few days in charge of a new squad but setting standards for fitness and training are two clear examples.  Monitoring is not just about stepping on the scales anymore, the players will have their body fat, glycogen levels and heart beats documented from when they get back and throughout the season thereafter.  With benchmarks for all, as well as performances.  I’m feeling tired even thinking about it.

  1. Ray Winstone's Big Disembodied Heid on

Woy ‘Odgeson has an ally McLeod look about him.

Glenn Hoddle saying they would have won if they had Suarez.

And if my auntie had baws she’d be my uncle.

  2. So they’re not out yet according to itv, it’s goal difference and not head to head , when did that happen ? I know nothing.

    WC Stats:

Since the 1982 World Cup, ITV have shown 10 World Cup first round group stage games, of which England have failed to win seven (six draws, one defeat).

Perhaps most disturbingly, though, ITV have shown just one England first round group stage win in the last 32 years, and that was the 2-0 victory over minnows Trinidad & Tobago in 2006.

    :-)

  6. It was actually a cracking goal from England, from their own corner flag to a goal not to shabby. Can see big things for this young team.

  7. If Italy win their next 2 games and England beat Costa Rica then England will probably go through. The 3 bottom teams would all have 3 points and would have beaten each other in head to heads so goal difference would decide it. Not probable to happen but also not extremely unlikely either.

  8. Dallas Dallas where the heck is Dallas on

A bit off subject here. Alan Thompson is the new Birmingham City developement team coach. I’m glad to see him back in football. One of my favourite hun skelpers.

Delaney’s further to your post last night about the legned owned pub, the Rosevale.

Felix McGowan, who might have been in your year at school, was in the legned’s boozer with some people he knew to see what it was like. Just as he was about drink his pint, one of the punters at the other end of the bar shouted out his name. He scarpered pronto.

English media keep reminding us of Argentina 1978. This could be their second if they don’t beat Costa Rica. Its funny how the 1988 Euro championships when they got hee haw points is never mentioned. One of my favourite tournaments ever due to Ray Houghton’s header and the marvellous Marco Van Basten’s hat trick.

As some have mentioned, the English media are why we don’t want the England team to win.

  11. 1 of the many good things about that tonight was that Rooney scored and will not get the knives stuck into him quite like he was goin to get.

Glenn ‘Oddle says Woy must have been a bad boy in a previous incarnation.

Sorry Glenn but ALL the best players in the EPL are foreigners. The self proclaimed best league in the world ensures that Ingerlund will never be a force in world football.

  13. National Grid have just reported a massive power surge in England.

5M ovens have been switched on at full power!
