Win could see Celtic go top

270

After a long international break, the full Celtic squad resumed training this morning, two days before the visit of Hibernian.  With a depleted Hearts facing Aberdeen at the same time, a win for Celtic could see the champions go top of the table on goal difference.

Aberdeen, in seventh place, are enduring their worst start to a campaign in years.  The contrast between the trauma this has caused in the north east, with the euphoria of the team in sixth place is stark.  But, with the Pittodrie squad is getting back to full strength at the same time as Hearts’ has weakened.  I expect a return to trend at Tynecastle on Saturday.

The next two months will not be easy for Celtic.  With European commitments, we have two games per week, apart from when the majority of the squad away on international duty again next month, but the sight of Celtic at the top of the table will look ominous to the rest of the league, and quieten down some of the manufactured hysteria over our early season dropped points.

  1. In the Guardian today in an aside explaining the decision not to sell Wembley to the owner of the Jacksonville Jaguars, it was stated that “there was a split of opinion between the suits and the blazers”.

    What does that mean?

I always thought that both terms referred to the non-football people involved in administration of the game but now there seems to be a distinction in the clothing terminology.

Are the suits the ones that wear the trousers?

Are the blazers the (Hugo) Boss?

What other items of clothing are interfering with our game?

    The stuffed shirts?

    The empty jerseys?

    The orange boots?

I demand to know before I start clearing my wardrobe.

  2. Hoooooooooy Birthday Malorbhoy!

    67!!!!! Wow, you don’t look a day under 70!!!

    Have a good one.

  3. As a point of interest and in the interests of balance, does anyone have a view on the fact that the SFA are NOT invoking the 5 day rule on Leigh Griffiths meaning he is available for the weekend. In light of the NI FA banning Lafferty from playing for Sevco.

Are the SFA displaying a Celtic bias? Had roles been reversed we would have made comment??

My view is that the SFA are so weak at this time that they daren’t go there.

  4. Feck my mate just reminded me the Scotland game was 6 days prior to the Hibs game this weekend. Played on Sunday wasn’t it.

    Don’t think so.

It has been stated already that Leigh was released by agreement from the squad whereas Kyle Lafferty walked out of the Occupied 6 squad without permission.

No bias and no weakness just the novel idea of application of the rules.

Won’t stop the raging ones believing the opposite or stop the Hibs fans from booing him.

Is Hong Kong based Barry Scott of Ibrox Park Holdings Ltd, the 23% Workington Reds shareholder the same Barry Scott of significant control in RIFC? If so, SFA Article 13 is very relevant! What’s good for His Mikeness is good for the Taipan, surely, @ScottishFA ?

My reading (guess/useless opinion) is that at half time during the Belgium game the ginger alkie picked on Leigh and said he wasn’t fit.

Leigh went back to Celtic and Brendan told him how to deal with this. Pull out to work on the lack of fitness that the ginger alkie had identified. (Celtic’s lawyers want to to point out that at no point did Brendan or Leigh use the term “ginger alkie”). After all the ginger alkie won’t be long in post.

Leigh withdrew with permission of the sfa. What could they say? He was working on what they said he lacked; fitness.

On the fact that the Scotland game was six days before hibs; doesn’t matter. It is 5 days after the international window which ended on Tuesday.

  13. There’s been a long standing joke for a few years now between me and Bournesouprecipe centring on my inability to grasp basic computer skills, in particular hyperlinks. My only option was to post one of those endless gobblediegook web addresses which leaves viewers with no hope of guessing where the link takes you.

has all that now changed? Have I finally got the hang of it. Putting what’s left of my reputation on the line here and going to try to post my first ever proper link. And given that it was BSR who set me off on this road I feel it only proper that my first link should be toTWO UP FRONT…….

6 mins in for georgies stunner.

The start of Celtic’s run of 10 wins out of 11 that would see them win the 78-79 league the night of the famous 4-2 game.

A single George McCluskey goal won this Easter Saturday game at the same time as Rangers were losing 2-0 at Motherwell which opened the door for Celtic.

These highlights are from a rather odd camera angle, presumably the stand at Love Street couldn’t accomodate TV cameras at this time.
